The Adventure Zone Podcast Review

The Adventure Zone is a long-running comedy and adventure actual play podcast spanning D&D and other games. One of the best Dungeons & Dragons podcasts out there, there are plenty of reasons to love this podcast. It’s homey feel and great production make it easy to get into.

The Hosts: Justin, Travis, and Griffin McElroy are behind the microphone for this podcast. For these three brothers, D&D has been the way they stick together since long before people started recording it. Their familiarity leads them to natural chemistry, which is easy to pick up on while listening.

The Guests: Guests on the show usually only stop by for an episode or two, and have all sorts of backgrounds. Almost all guests are friends of the brothers, but friends they’ve made from different places. They might be from childhood or fellow tabletop RPG podcasters. Recently, their father Clint has been joining the show.

Why You Have to Listen: The Adventure Zone feels just like playing D&D at home. If you find yourself missing your Dungeons & Dragons friends, this will scratch the itch. And while the brothers are good storytellers, they’re not so intimidating as the hosts of podcasts like Critical Role. Beyond their natural charisma, the stories being told are easy to get sucked into.
