Comedic movie review podcasts are pretty popular right now, but the Who Shot Ya? podcast (which is produced by Maximum Fun) is probably one of the best ones out there. And that’s because Ify, alongside Alonso and Drea, talk about the latest and greatest flicks with such enthusiasm, that you can practically see the smile on their faces. They’re also joined by many notable guests, who all seem to have worked in the film industry at some point in their lives. Now aside from reviewing movies like The Invisible Man or Birds of Prey, Ify and his friends also talk about anime (have you ever heard of Your Name?) and fun movie scenes, like the best mouth-watering food scene in movie history.
The Hosts: Who Shot Ya? is hosted by a talented trio of hilarious film fans, who are Ify Nwadiwe, Alonso Duralde, and Drea Clark. So let’s start with Ify first. He acts, writes, and pretty much does it all in the comedy realm. In fact, you might have seen him on Key and Peele or IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang!. Alonso edits film reviews for TheWrap and wrote several books, including: Have Yourself a Movie Little Christmas and 101 Must-See Movies for Gay Men. Drea loves to imitate character accents and has produced a number of feature films, some of which are Lake Los Angeles and The Last Time You Had Fun.
The Guests: Many of the guests on this podcast are comedians, and you may recognize names like Myq Kaplan, Dani Fernandez, and Luce Tomlin-Brenner. But Ify also talks to directors, writers, actors, TV editors, and podcast hosts. So if names like Sarah Kuhn (writer of Shadow of the Batgirl) and director Barry Sonnenfeld sound familiar, then you’ll love all of these entertaining episodes.
Why You Have to Listen: So what did you think of Joker? And did you think that Jojo Rabbit should’ve won that coveted Best Picture award last year? Well, whatever your movie-related opinions are, be prepared to laugh alongside Ify, Drea, and Alonso as they discuss the good and the bad parts of films like Terminator: Dark Fate, Rambo: Last Blood, and IT: Chapter Two.
