Search Engine Optimization Trends 2023 and Beyond: Accelerated Mobile Pages One of the trends we’ve seen in 2023 is the use of AMPs or Accelerated Mobile Pages. They provide a seamless experience to users which can lead to higher conversion rates and sales for businesses. However, there are also some downsides you need to consider before applying them to your business. In this episode, Arti Sharma wraps up the 2023 SEO series by talking about AMPs or Accelerated Mobile Pages. She shares the pros and cons of using them to help you make the right decision if you should hop on this trend for your business. Listen and learn in this episode!   KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THIS EPISODE Accelerated Mobile Page (AMP) is an open-source framework developed by Google Developers that allows web developers to create fast loading lightweight versions of web pages for mobile devices. Why businesses are using AMPs? AMPs are designed to load quickly and provide a smooth, seamless user experience on mobile devices, which can improve user engagement rates.  Faster loading times tend to rank higher in search results, so implementing AMP can improve a website's ranking and visibility. AMPs are eligible to be displayed in the top stories at the top of Google search results, which can increase the visibility and credibility of a website.  Improved user experience and faster loading time lead to a better experience, which can lead to better conversions and sales.   Some downsides of using AMPs: Limited functionality Reduced control over the site’s appearance May impact SEO negatively if not done properly (according to some experts) Creating separate versions of pages may lead to content duplication and potential penalties from search engines Privacy concerns   Make the right decision by weighing the pros and cons of AMPs and analyzing what is the right fit for your business. Parenting, Psychedelics, & Trauma… Oh My! w/ Jamie Glowacki My friend Jamie Glowacki is a badass mother. In the rainbow tapestry of influences on my parenting style, Jamie is one of the gorgeous threads. We met over five years ago, when she was a client for another marketing agency I worked with. At that time, she was the foremost respected expert on… drumroll please… potty training. Now, Jamie is an internationally recognized parenting expert. She's the author of the best selling books Oh Crap Potty Training and Oh Crap I Have a Toddler. It turns out that her former careers as circus performer and social worker make her uniquely qualified to deal with toddlers… and poop. And… as her work grew, she realized unhealed trauma in parents vastly affects parenting. She's now committed to helping parents heal that trauma through some pretty unconventional healing modalities. Jamie and I have always had some fun parallels. When I was moving to Costa Rica, she decided to buy a house in the exact community I moved to. We both play and work in the realm of plant medicine and psychedelics. We are both total renegade mamas, navigating the shift from old school to new paradigm parenting. She's got a son, Pascal, much older than my Indy, but who reminds me of what my son could be like as he matures into a young man. We went deep on boundaries, transparent communication with our children, and the importance of healing our trauma. Jamie's in-your-face insight is both empathic and confronting. 'The State of the CMO' Report: Key Findings In this podcast episode, Sarah Kimmel, the vice president of research at Simpler Media Group, casts a discerning eye on "The State of the CMO" survey, offering a rare glimpse into the shifting landscape of chief marketing officers (CMOs) and the competencies they must cultivate. The study's revelations place creative thinking at the top of vital skills, trailed by strategic management, leadership prowess and executive aptitude. The CMO's role has been undergoing a remarkable metamorphosis, marked by heightened collaboration with sales divisions, mounting demands for enhanced customer experiences and active participation in digital transformation initiatives. Intriguingly, CMOs say only 59% of leadership expect measurable outcomes from them, indicating not all undertakings lend themselves to direct ties to the bottom line. Kimmel sheds light on the turbulent journey of CMOs as they navigate a perpetually shifting sea of expectations and responsibilities. We caught up with her recently to discuss the survey.

Ep. 161 With Nick Gray "The thing that I found for building relationships is that I have to give value first. I have to give, give, give before I ever ask for anything. One thing that I like to do, by the way, is occasionally I will pick people up at the airport. Nobody does that, who's crazy enough, just get an Uber, right? But I'll go to the airport, I'll pick somebody up.

The give, give, give idea is that even in hosting, I don't like when, when folks host at a bar or at a restaurant, cuz then we all pay our bills and that's not generous. I think you have to host your party in your home because it's so vulnerable and it's so generous to invite someone into your home that that very act is so vulnerable and similar.

In building these relationships, I look to, how can I give, give, give. To give to a person before I ever ask for anything, and so that would be my general advice. I'm happy to go on specifics, but that's generally how I think about and in hosting a party to build your network. Why this works is you give a ton of party invitations.

Remember, a party invite is like a little gift that you give to give somebody. You're saying, I like you, would you come to my home? Everyone wants to be invited. I've sent thousands of invites and not once has a mega millionaire ever said, stop inviting me to these free parties where you'll introduce me to interesting people."

-Nick Gray

Nick is the author of The 2-Hour Cocktail Party, a step-by-step handbook that teaches you how to build big relationships by hosting small gatherings. Over 75,000 people have watched his TEDx talk about why he hates most museums. He’s been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and New York Magazine called him a host of “culturally significant parties.”

Utilize a Documented Sales Process (Building a Framework of Sales Management – Part 2) Do your salespeople have the liberty to sell however they please? While that may occasionally work, having a consistent sales process can regularly work. This doesn’t mean your salespeople become robots; it means they have a flexible framework to solve every customer’s problem. They go from thinking, “This is how I do it,” to “This is how we do it.”In today’s episode, Tim will teach you how to develop and document your company’s sales process to hold all salespeople accountable to a performance standard. In this episode, you’ll learn:

The five steps of utilizing a sales process (this will allow you to go from having nothing to everything).

The structure of the document you need to create to document your sales process (this will become your salespeople’s bible).

The sales process that The Fire Time Magazine utilizes (this process works very well for our industry, and you can replicate it).
As the economy continues to tighten up, now more than ever, we need to play offense if we want to be successful. By choosing not to build a sales management framework, your company will likely not grow in the long term. This tool will allow you to track opportunities that have not closed in a much more granular way, making your life easier and making you more money. In this episode, you’ll learn:

The things you should consider when creating a sales dashboard (this is everything you need to see and everything you don’t).

How to rate the attractiveness of a job (this is a systematized way of always knowing what customers are the highest priority).

"By the time I left, we were generating an average $200 million a year in revenue sourced from organic search."—Eli Schwartz

He systemized his learnings at SurveyMonkey into an approach called Product-led SEO. A methodology used by companies like Canva, Coinbase, Language Drops, and more to drive explosive growth.

In this episode, we learn all about it:

Going Into the Archives: Bonus Special #9 Welcome to the ninth bonus episode of the Confident Live Marketing Podcast, where we’re celebrating the run-up to our 200th episode and 4th anniversary! In this bonus episode, I re-run the interview with two amazing guests: Michelle Levitt, Marketing and Creative Director of Heil Sound, a professional audio equipment manufacturer, and Izabela Russell, the CEO of Music Radio Creative, a company specializing in audio branding. We dive into the importance of audio branding and its role in reflecting your personality. We also discuss the technical aspects of microphones and how they can impact your voice’s authenticity. Here are the key takeaways from our conversations:Audio branding: How you want to be perceived and how you want people to feel when they listen to your content. Consider the intro, outro, and elements in between, along with suitable music and voice artists.Reflecting your personality with Izabela Russell: Think about how your audio branding can reflect your personality. If you’re quirky and fun, incorporate that into your branding. If you’re more serious, choose music and voice elements that match that vibe.Energy and authenticity: The energy you project on camera should be a slightly heightened version of your true self. Be authentic, and don’t be afraid to showcase your energy.Microphone frequency response with Michelle Levitt: The range of frequencies a microphone can capture. Look for a small rise in the 2-5 kHz range for better articulation on the human voice.Choosing the right microphone: The difference between microphones like the Heil PR 30 and PR 40 lies in their unique frequency responses. The PR 40 has more low-end and gives a warm, traditional broadcast sound, while the PR 30 has more mid-range presence.Authenticity in your voice: Choose a microphone that makes you sound like yourself. When people meet you in person, they should not be surprised by how your voice sounds compared to your podcast or live show. Please Subscribe! Don’t miss an episode! How to help Owners focus on the most Important priorities In this episode of the Advisory Board Podcast, we're joined by Kyle Barr who shares some valuable insights on how to help owners focus on the most important priorities, and not just the loudest ones. Here are some of the highlights:Before implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), they had too many distractions from various marketing campaigns, trade shows, and random ideas that ate up their bandwidth and resulted in unfocused leaders, staff, and reduced quality of support and results. They chose EOS as a framework to align their strategic plans with their goals, and after testing it with one location, they convinced 7-8 owners to roll it out, and found that it helped to streamline their processes and improve their grasp of metrics, focus, clarity, and productivity. EOS helped to eliminate shared accountability, place accountability on the right place in the business, and create confidence in franchise owners in their subordinates Kyle Barr is the Vice President of Franchise Operations for Storm Guard Roofing and Construction. Storm Guard specializes in restoring homes and repairing exterior damage caused by natural disasters to homeowners and businesses. Kyle has been working in the construction industry since he was 15 years old. He started working with Storm Guard in 2010 in roofing sales. In 2014, when Storm Guard began franchising, Kyle took the lead and has played a key role in growing the brand across the country, helping communities everywhere prepare for and recover from severe weather. To listen to more franchising experts share the secrets of the trade from marketing to operations, listen to more of our episodes here: https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-adv… , or on Apple, Google, Audible, iHeartRadio, or anywhere else you like to listen to podcasts.
Timea Nagy-From Bad to Worse to Better Looking for a better life, Timea Nagy is lured by an international sex trafficking ring. Timea Nagy was 20 years old and hoping to escape a childhood of trauma and abuse. She answered a newspaper ad in Budapest, Hungary, calling for young women to work as babysitters and housekeepers in Canada. On the flight over, her dreams were big, and her hopes soared. But from the moment she landed in Canada, her story went from bad to worse. The ad was a front for international human sex traffickers. The abductors took her passport, and with no command of the English or French language, Timea was a prisoner forced to be a stripper and prostitute. Timea first shared her story through the Salvation Army campaign The Truth Isn’t Sexy. In this episode, she talks about how she escaped and moved back to Hungary, only to be raped by the authorities and targeted by the Mafia. Timea returned to Canada and has since worked tirelessly to help human trafficking survivors, and she consults with the RCMP and other police organizations to fight sex trafficking. Caroline Tutakiewicz, one of Canada’s top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada, and Senior Director, Fraud & Security Risk Oversight at RBC, joins the show. We talk about her work with the Survivor Inclusive Initiative to support and help people like Timea Nagy who are backed into a horrific corner with no way out. An inspirational story of tragedy to transformation, from seeing yourself as a victim to finding a way to love yourself. From surrendering to trauma to controlling one's destiny and finding a silver lining and higher purpose inside the darkest of clouds.   To purchase Timea Nagy's Out of the Shadows:  https://www.amazon.ca/Biographies-Memoirs-Timea-Nagy-Books/s?rh=n%3A934986%2Cp_27%3ATimea+Nagy

Building Cyber Community with Luke Tucker In this episode, Luke Tucker, VP of Marketing at Lightspin, joins Maria and Gianna to discuss building cyber community.

To begin, Luke unpacks his cautious optimism for the current market and shares why startups need to celebrate even the smallest wins. Prior to his current position, Luke held leadership roles in marketing at HackerOne as well as an executive role in the community side. As his very first VP marketing role, he is focused on making the lives of end users and cloud engineers better. Lightspin understands that the most efficient way to secure a cloud is to think like an attacker, then build like a graph. This is how they make their mission, to best support cloud engineers along every stage of their journey, possible.

Community is a popular topic within cybersecurity lately. Luke explains Hackerone’s flywheel model. It is the outliers on the fringes of communities that need to be focused on at all times. Having moderation, best practices, and onboarding experiences early on will help to instill company culture. Luke defines community as people who consistently show up to collaborate together on a common cause. It took a physical location to really collaborate on the platform. Luke recounts what it was like seeing the security team face-to-face with the hacker community. It all began with allowing collaboration as bounty sharing and reward sharing within the platform itself. Thankfully due to some of the early adopters, Hackerone was able to build some momentum As the business began to scale, it became necessary to stay up to date with the CFO. The next step was asking users what they wanted to see next on the platform. The majority of users were there to further their careers, so they were given Hacker 101 and CTF. Luke shares that the majority of these hackers just want to have a safe space to share their discoveries with other people. Another key component of community, and where a mission really accelerates, is to give your community members the stage.

Before wrapping up, Luke encourages listeners to join the Cybersecurity Marketing Society.  Finally, he engages in a fun guessing game and reveals what career he would pursue outside of the cybersecurity field.

MIP Markets with Shawn Hacket – Strong El Nino This Summer? MIP Markets with Shawn Hackett – A Strong El Niño This Summer?

OPEC is making moves with Oil Production, Ending Stocks were the story for the last USDA report, and the price of pork cutouts have fallen out of bed. For a Strong El Niño to develop this Summer, with current conditions, it will be the third time since 1950 it has happened. Conditions might be more in tune for an epic drought this Summer. Something similar to what was seen in 2012 and could affect the same area. If you thin inflation is bad now, wait until food price skyrocket.

Letting Go of Perfection Letting Go of PerfectionThis is another listener suggestion, from Walter in New Jersey. He knows that he’s a perfectionist, but it sometimes gets in the way of getting the work done on time, especially when it involves other wedding/event pros. Can you relate? When we know we can do better, we want to do better. If we have an unlimited timeline, as when making art for yourself, that’s fine. But when your timeline is restricted, and when others are affected by you not getting your part done, that’s when problems can occur.Listen to this new, 8-minute episode and see if I can help you let go, at least a little, of your need for perfection every time.If you have any questions about anything in this, or any of my podcasts, or have a suggestion for a topic or guest, please reach out directly to me at [email protected] or visit my website Podcast.AlanBerg.comPlease be sure to subscribe to this podcast and leave a review (thanks, it really does make a difference).
