#91 S5E17 Flourishing Compassion (Epilogue) Dear Friend,
Over the course of 90 episodes divided into 5 seasons, I have shared the best of what I can offer on how to experience a humanistic worklife by embodying healing through everyday pursuits.
In the very first episode we asked, "Why healing in the workplace?" Over these 5 seasons I trust we answered that question together many different  ways. In this concluding episode we now ask, "How can compassion flourish?"
Although this is a new question, we arrive back at the beginning of our exploration. And the best way I know how to answer this question is to speak from my own experience. We are very much the same. I trust my conclusion on flourishing compassion will resonate for you.
I invite you to go back through the full catalogue of the Workplace Healer. Although production of new episodes has concluded, the material is very much evergreen:
Season 1: "Why Healing?"
Season 2: "Spiritual Profits"
Season 3: "Intentional Magic"
Season 4: "More Than Mindful"
Season 5: "Thrust in Thriving"
You can now listen to the new follow-on podcast, A Healing Being, fearlessly lighting the way for modern westerners to re-connect with their innate capacity to be a healing presence for themselves and others.
The Workplace Healer podcast is a complement to Healeology, my well-being practice of modern meditation. Here you'll find a variety of options for supporting you to be a more healing presence by remembering how to access your own inner wisdom.
#90 S5E16 Entrepreneurs Can’t Do It Alone For this episode we welcome Lara Gryffn, a small business owner just like so many more striving to create value for her customers and a good life for her team. Lara bravely models vulnerability as she shares her story, her struggles, and the strength and wisdom that she draws from these experiences.
You will hear the insights bubbling to the surface from within. You will feel a connection to what she shares.

#89 S5E15 A Healing Paradox for Leaders Leaders, we know, have many responsibilities. Among them is the responsibility to create an environment for their team that is conducive to doing good work. Yet in the course of responding to their many demands, leaders run the risk actually causing harm. Even when a leader is self-aware and filled with sound intentions, they sometimes fail. They sometimes cause harm.
How does the leader show up as a healer? What are the pitfalls? Can they go too far? Do they focus first on their self or on others? Taryn Sydow, the founder of LightWalker Consulting, joins the conversation to lead us in sorting through the paradox of healing as a practice of leadership.

#88 S5E14 Leaders’ Despair Why do so many invest so much in leadership training and coaching yet continue to struggle? Some might say that for all the research and for all the wonderful assessments and frameworks supporting effective leadership, matters seem to be getting worse! As a former leadership coach and consultant myself, I have seen many of my own former clients' struggle. As a leader myself, I am faced my own doubts and fears.

Recently I read a book on leadership that really provoked me with its cynical views. But reading it helped me see the cynicism I myself had developed, and brought about the reflections shared here. There is one core truth about leadership once we strip away all the noise: it's all about self-possession.

#87 S5E13 White Folks’ Responsibility for an Anti-Racist Workplace Diversity, inclusion and equity efforts are being increasingly understood as far more than "special initiatives." Instead DE&I is understood as changing the very DNA of an organization, embedding new ways of thinking and behaving into every facet of organizational life. Yet we cannot achieve any systemic change without doing the work at the individual level.

In this dialogue with anti-racist facilitator Valerie Spain, we talk about the humbling and necessary work white folks need to do, at the personal level, to help build anti-racist work environments.

#86 S5E12 Faith in Diversity with La’Wana Harris Have we gone too far in making faith taboo in the work setting? We talk about inclusion and belonging, yet we expect colleagues to keep their spiritual beliefs to themselves. We are each guided by our values and our personal faith--or philosophy if you prefer--plays a major part in shaping those values.

If we bring our "whole selves" to work, then how do we navigate the question of faith and spirituality? This emerged as the theme in this interview with leadership and diversity coach La'Wana Harris.

#85 S5E11 Work vs Calling: Truth on Winter Solstice We live in a time and in an economy where many of us can be attracted to the idea of becoming a thought leader, an entrepreneur, an influencer. And there are many appealing voices in our ear encouraging us to pursue our sense of purpose and translate that calling into a career. For some folks, this may be great advice. But be careful. Be thoughtful.

If what you are pursuing is as meaningful to you as "your soul's purpose," then we are encouraged to take a step back from the buzz of the marketplace. Before to plunge forward crafting a strategy to commoditize the outcomes of your soul's purpose, consider the various options to express that purpose. Here is my one story about this struggle.

#84 S5E10 Does Forgiveness Belong in the Workplace? You may immediately respond to this question with the answer, "Of course forgiveness belongs in the workplace!" You'll find the eleven guest voices here broadly agree, yet they each offer a different perspectives. Dave Hamilton, Karen Weeks, Vince Tuckwood, Mariana Cruz, Garrison Gibbons, Lara Gryffn, Eric Meade, Michelle Strasburger, Valerie Spain, Taryn Sydow, and Achebe Powell.

This episode is intended as a contemplation on the place for Forgiveness in our worklife. As you listen, try to do so in a quiet space paying attention to the speakers and to your own responses--rationally, emotionally, physically, and energetically. My hope is that you may be inspired to being a more healing presence in your professional life by allowing for more forgiveness.

Toxicity in Remote Work Remote work is convenient in one sense and requires more NEW kinds of work, Audio-only calls, far more asynchronous collaboration tools, much more prep prior to a meeting so people are prepared to participate meaningfully. Regarding culture, remote work requires even MORE clear relationship between company goals and individual contributions. Finally, in a remote culture you GOTTA find virtual means to create human connections.

#46 S3E3 - Achieving a Sense of Balance Here we begin our exploration of the Essence Map by looking to the North for the essence of Balance. We all are prone to one form of extreme or another. When we are "always" this or that. We are all prone to relying on a particular approach or posture. And gradually we learn the particular ways in which we may benefit from moderation or from taking a different perspective. By allowing ourselves to experience Balance in our work life, what do we find? Rather than a destination, Balance is never ending process..a flow. Balance is water. Balance is cyclical. Balance prepares us to begin and balance supports us to come to an end.

How do you truly experience Balance when you allow it? Mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually?

Leaders' response to hybrid conditions Many leaders and managers would just as soon return to the status quo of full-time presence in the office. One of the chief roadblocks to effective hybrid work, may be the biases of the leadership, This resistance itself can contribute to a work culture where old command and control tendencies resurface, creating a crisis of trust.
3 Challenges with Hybrid Working Be reminded about three of the challenges with hybrid working: productivity, communication and career progression.

#81 S5E7 A New Perspective on the Toxic Workplace Vince Tuckwood is a coach and consultant fascinated by two simple questions: 1) Why do people do what they do?; and 2) How do we help them do more of what we need them to do? Driven by these questions, he has experienced a two-decade trans-Atlantic career in Talent & Organization Development with Pfizer Inc and, since 2010, a life of independent coaching and consulting. In spirit and action, Vince is always a force for beneficial change and loves nothing more than the thrill of connecting the dots to identify what’s holding a person, team or organization back.

In this episode Vince walks us methodically through his assessment of what we call a "toxic workplace." He holds up for us an awareness of history, of our tendency to seek an easy answer through blame, how we may contribute to the conditions we wish to change, and staying centered despite toxicity.

She has been a human rights and LGBTQ+ activist for over four decades. As a Black lesbian-feminist Achebe is noted as one of the vanguard activists of the 1970’s and 80’s who consistently shone light on the linkages between the Black Civil Rights Movement, the Women’s Liberation Movement and the LGBTQ+ Liberation Movement.

In this episode, Achebe speaks with me about how the work we are doing through this podcast and through Healeology is part of a bigger movement. Achebe speaks about her work anti-racist with organizations, forgiveness, and the birth of a new workplace paradigm -- a more compassionate, soulful, healing work culture.

#79 S5E5 One Voice on Gender Non-Binary This is my personal experience on identifying as a non-binary person. I offer it here motivated by the hope to help nudge our collective understanding just a little bit further. Each story is different, and each story counts.

You will note I don't even mention my pronouns except in passing: I am not my pronouns. Pronouns are a grammatical tool of convenience. I am not necessarily concerned about being convenient for anyone. My particular story is one of understanding my non-binary identity late in life. It is a story of ageism. It is a story of white male power. It is a story of spiritual discovery. I don't actually ask that you understand me. Only that you dignify me.

#78 S5E4 Done with Data, Work with Wisdom When we prepare to confront the stresses and harms in worklife that require healing, we first seek to understand. And so we gather data. We analyze. We try to diagnose the root cause of the symptoms. This is all reasonable. Yet while analysis of data helps us determine the steps we may need in order to heal, before we act we need to move on and then listen to our wisdom.

What is wisdom and how do we access wisdom? In this episode we remind ourselves to draw upon both data and wisdom, and take a meditative pause to listen actively to our inner knowing.

#77 S5E3 The New Duty of Care Harm comes to people during their worklife in many different forms. At a time when we are fundamentally redefining the terms of work, we need to include a fresh approach to "duty of care." Beyond occupational safety, anti-harrassment, and other traditionally understood responsibilities, our times call for humanistic obligations as well.

In this episode we re-evaluate the definition of "duty of care" using surprising findings in chapter 7 of the 2021 UN Happiness Report, "Work and Well-being."

#76 S4E2 Is Your Boss Irredeemable? So many of us experience that frustrating, sometimes harmful, experience of working for a difficult boss. One who's behavior pattern demeans, controls, intimidates. It's not unusual for the team to collectively shrug because, after all, this is a person on a position of authority and power. And we're living in a time when people in power seem to resist accountability. We can be forgiven for being discouraged. But we need to have some trust, to empower ourselves and our colleagues...including that boss.

Here we reflect on this question: Is your boss irredeemable? And we end together with a four-minute guided meditation to find some insight to find a path forward.

#75 S5E1 Trust in Thriving - Season Opener Welcome to Season 5 of the Workplace Healer podcast! This season we will engage in conversation and critiques on programs and practices in the workplace wellness and well-being space. How are they different? What works? How can we enhance these practices?

In this introduction to season 5, we'll briefly review the themes of the first four season, reflect on the meaning that phrase: "trust in thriving," and look at one specific example of how we need to lay a solid foundation for wellness and well-being. There are no shortcuts.

#74 S4E12 Essential Connection - Season Closure This final episode of season 4, More Than Mindful, is dedicated to my long-distance teacher (and companion in being a bit different) Kriket, the creator of Shaman's Way podcast. In February of 2020, I had the great pleasure of being joined by Kriket for episode $50 of this podcast, entitled "Medicine Wheel with Kriket." I find it fitting that I recorded this final season episode on the day of a New Moon, and that it is imbued with Kriket's memory and, perhaps, her Presence.

"Essential Connection" is the third and final practice of the LightHeart Cycle, a systematic approach to self-care and self-empowerment using guided meditation and visualization. I like to describe Essential Connection as the ultimate destination of the LightHeart Cycle, but it is at the same time the foundation. I invite you to consider your relatedness to everyone and everything around you. You may think of this relatedness to the whole world, or your community, or your workplace. Consider the comfort to be found in that idea of being part of something more than just yourself. I then invite you to create for yourself habits -- dare I say "rituals" -- of reminding yourself of that relatedness, that connectedness, that essential connection. Just imagine how that sense of a larger whole can transform how you go about your everyday tasks and duties!

The LightHeart Cycle is one of the primary components of workplace well-being practices now being introduced through Healeology. A workplace well-being partner, Healeology offers audio and video content in pursuit of its mission to embed healing as a strategy of team success for 21st century workplaces.
#73 S4E11 The Heart of Empathy Here we share a guided meditation enabling ourself to connect more meaningfully with the essence of Empathy. Empathy is an innate capability unique to us humans, and can be a tool for productivity as we navigate our professional relationships. Some may challenge us, asking whether we can take this sensitivity too far. Isn't it more practical, they ask, to just carry on and get things done? Maybe the answer is somewhere in between. We're not about wallowing in others' feelings, but we are about understanding, openness and mutual support. So let's journey together to the heart of Empathy.

#72 S4E10 A Hard Truth for Essential Connection As we turn to the third principle - Imagination - and the third practice - Essential Connection - of the LIGHTHEART CYCLE, let's first recognize the hard truth. People face serious challenges in both their personal and working life. Here we don't naively assume we shall will adversity and suffering away. It is important even as we apply these practices to recognize this, but also not to surrender over our sense of possibility and Hope. A deeper, harder truth to accept than the differences that divide us is the common humanity that binds us. Let's pause to reflect on that we we proceed.

#71 S4E9 Science & Wonder Our sense of wonder serves as an indispensable ingredient for practicing the LIGHTHEART CYCLE meditation techniques effectively. #68 S4E6 Give Your Ego Some PTO It should come as no surprise that the concept of "ego" is central to the LIGHTHEART CYCLE techniques that we are exploring through this season. Our ego carries us through each day, through our perceptions and decisions and interactions with the world around us. Our ego is critical to our professional success. But at what moment might we benefit from stepping back from that ego of ours, even if just for a few moments? In this episode we reflect on the promise of giving our ego a brief rest from time to time...an invitation to the next episode when we will experience a guided meditation exercise, Stepping Back from Ego.

#67 S4E5 Doubt: the Gateway to Mindfulness As we work our way through the LIGHTHEART CYCLE, we come to practice #2, Mindfulness (aka Step Back from Ego). This is an idea and a practice that is earning increasing attention, even in our 21st century work environment. But "Mindfulness" is a big idea, and a rather esoteric idea for some. Here, we begin a sequence of episodes digging into what we mean, specifically, by mindfulness in the context of the LIGHTHEART CYCLE technique. We start with a good, healthy dose of...Doubt.

#65 S4E3 The Exalted Mind - Creating Your Own Meditation In learning the LIGHTHEART CYCLE we look to better balance the experience of our mind, body, heart and soul in the workplace context. But by all means do we recognize the beauty and, let's face it, the preeminence of our rational mind, our consciousness. So we recognize and accept that. And at the same time we see how we use that beautiful mind and its imaginative abilities to open ourselves up to the other dimensions of a whole human experience.

#64 S4E2 Love Where You're Starting From Experience a guided meditation in Self-ish Presence. This is a technique you can return to yourself, on your own, in the middle of a busy day. An act of self care, self-empowerment and productivity.

#63 S4E1 Self-ish Presence Welcome to Season 4, "More Thank Mindful," where we are exploring the LIGHTHEART CYCLE, a distinctly 21st century westerner's approach to bringing connectedness and spirit into our working life. We start with the concept of "presence" as typically applied to leadership. How might we want to work with Presence in a difference way? A more self-ish way? And how might that empower us? Join me in this reflection.

#53 S3E10 - Trust Trust is not earned, it is given. Those wise words ring true in our mind, but how do we allow ourselves to open up to this truth? In this episode we return again to our Essence Map tool to remind ourselves of cycles. We gain confidence in accepting Trust by working with, and working through cycles. Join Dan for his sharing of how he connects rationally, physically, emotionally and spiritually with this essence that we all so deeply depend on. And there may even be a little drumming thrown in for fun!
#28 S2E1 - Why NOT Spirit? We open Season 2: Spiritual Profits, with the question, "Why NOT encourage spirit in the workplace?" Spirituality is not about religion. It's not a repudiation of science or reason. Spirituality is a fundamental aspect of our whole humanity. The very same humanity that we now seek to bring into the work environment in the 21st century. We can't thrive if we deny our wholeness, and we are not whole without Spirit.
#32 S2E5 - Personal Accountability to Connect Ritual means taking action to lift ourselves up and out of mundane reality, if only temporarily, to re-establish connection to something bigger than ourselves. Ritual is the method through which we introduce spirit to our work environment. And we must begin by accepting personal accountability to achieve that connectedness. So what might our personal rituals look like?
#41 S2E14 - Team Spirit "Team spirit" is about giving of ourselves for the sake of a joint effort. It's about putting our heart into our work with a sense of loyalty and care for our colleagues. We can help create the conditions that are conducive to team spirit, but in the end everyone needs to make a choice to be willing to give. This episode offers a guided meditation aimed at facilitating each individual to make that choice. To make that commitment. To be willing.
#27 - Season 2 Introduction In this introduction to Season 2, "Spiritual Profits," you'll hear a bit about what to expect -- form as well as content -- and what brought about the inspiration to focus on spirit and spirituality in the work setting.
#39 S2E12 - Facing Conflict We all experience the fear of a conflict that we just know we need to face. Many of us turn to a purely rational approach, and some of us additionally address conflict on an emotional level. But what if we also choose to approach a perceived conflict on an energetic level...on a spirit level? This episode offers a 10-minute guided meditation to support you to do just that. Shift yourself with compassionate intention to show up for that conflict in a whole new way.
#18 - 5 Truths for Disciplined and Compassionate Feedback No we cannot control how another person responds to feedback we offer, but we can be intentional and deliberate about creating the conditions that lead to more a productive conversation.
#50 S3E7 - Medicine Wheel with Kriket What is Medicine Wheel and how does it related to the Essence Map tool Dan's using throughout this season? Dan is joined by long-time shamanic practitioner Kriket who offers her perspective. Firstly, this exchange serves as a great primer on the certain aspects of the foundations of shamanic practice, as well as an overview of Medicine Wheel structure. Secondly, Kriket deftly discusses the alignment between the core of the Essence Map -- East/Joy, South/Trust, West/Hope, North/Peace -- and her own application of Medicine Wheel. Thirdly, Dan and Kriket share their hopes for a time in humanity's near future where, just perhaps, shamanic wisdom is brought back into the fold of contemporary Western culture. Fourthly, Kriket offers several practices we can all use in our work life to call upon the Essence of Resilience.

#44 S3E1 - Intro to Intentional Magic Welcome to Season 3, Intentional Magic. During this season we ask the question: What would happen if a group of colleagues were to open themselves up fully -- mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually -- to a single idea? The idea may be Joy, Collaboration, Inclusion, Innovation, or any other concept that we believe would strengthen the workplace. We can't simple declare any particular value to be present; we must be truly willing to invite the experience of its presence. Collaboration, for example, is merely a stale word on paper unless we connect deeply with the intention of Collaboration. During this season we'll energize our intentions to bring practical magic into our everyday experience at work...the magic born of our intention.
#40 S2E13 - Power of Love Stretch your mind and challenge that rational paradigm for understanding the world of work. Consider the practice of Reiki as a new method for growing leadership, teamwork, innovation and inclusion. We can transform even the most sterile boardroom into an envelope of universal Source, and create experiences that strengthen colleagues' connection to a higher purpose--however you choose to define that in your business context. If you're looking for a means to bring more Love into the work setting, Reiki is your ticket!
#36 S2E9 - Doing Daily Tarot Whether you're an executive, a manager or a colleague in any role, it's critical that you make well-considered decisions. This requires your best thinking that draws on all the data available. Have you considered, then, using the Tarot as a tool to accomplish just that? The Tarot can serve you well as a means of sparking your intuition and opening up access to levels of knowing that you may be missing. So let's consider the practice of starting your workday by drawing on the Tarot.
#35 S2E8 - Inspirational Gatherings For the final of four episodes on working with ritual we look at bringing a deeper sense of purpose to "all staff meetings" or "town halls." Aside from sharing information and building team, what is the deeper meaning that you wish to bring to a gathering of your workplace community? What are some examples of rituals you might include in these gatherings in order to grow a more spiritually sound, and thereby more productive, work culture?
#34 S2E7 - Generous Trust Over and over we come back to issues of trust as a source of woundedness in the workplace. But the solution isn't about system change. The solution to workplace trust issues lies in each of us...in our own willingness to shift energetically. We must be willing to release our own mistrust and reconnect with our natural inclination to freely offer our trust. Building on the prior two episodes on working with ritual, here we walk through a small group ritual comprised of the essential elements --- invocation, symbolic action, gratitude and commitment -- to build generous trust.
#33 S2E6 - Warrior's Compass Learn about the Warrior's Compass tool that can guide us to identify the intention for rituals we decide to develop. On a day to day basis our needs may change and what blocks us may seem to shift. We need to be prepared to listen and respond with rituals that serves us in the moment. By using the Warrior's Compass we can respond to our shifting needs while uncovering patterns over time, and in this way establish a way of living that carries us forward to grow into our best Self.
#31 S2E4 - Surrender the Glorious Ego Wrapping up the first theme of this season, Why Spirit at Work?, we review the highlights of episodes 1 to 3 in order to draw out a common call to action: balancing our Ego. We choose to develop our spiritual Self in the professional context in order to be more successful AND in order to contribute to a more harmonious world through our words, deeds and presence every day. This is personal work, at times lonely, and is the effort of a lifetime even when we are intentional and dedicated. But it's so worth it.
#29 S2E2 - Signs Point to Spirit Business literature over the past several decades has been pointing us indirectly toward the need to allow for a spiritual element to management practice. Here we read passages from works have half a dozen thought leaders whose writing stands as prime examples of these signposts. Taken together they create a compelling composite answer to our question, Why spirit at work?
#26 - Why We Pause We all know the wisdom of pausing. In the midst of an important meeting, maybe we'd really be served by pointing out an elephant in the room. In the midst of our busy week, we'd be well served by doing some breath work or meditation for the sake of maintaining a clear head or finding more creativity. In the midst of our career we may recognize a moment when our big important initiative needs a re-fresh or a re-think. Yes, we see the wisdom in the pause...yet do we allow ourselves?
#25 - The Neutral Zone Practice - for Trust and Understanding The Neutral Zone is a simple active listening ritual that I habitually find teams need. Even workplaces for a strong sense of values and effective leadership can need to create space for building trust and understanding, and that's what The Neutral Zone aims to achieve. Don't be fooled by its obvious simplicity -- you may discover it requires a lot of intention to practice, but the results will be worth it!
#24 - Quiet Forgiveness Over and over when working with people to improve leadership and teamwork, I find myself thinking, "If only we can just forgive." But I hold back, often. Why? Why is "forgiveness" such a relatively shunned concept in the workplace? Are we so intent on showing accountability and professionalism that we deem forgiveness a weakness? Maybe we can challenge ourselves and just a little more often choose to offer forgiveness in our heart and mind...quiet forgiveness.
#23 - Mantras Work at Work Shaping our mindset, outlook, attitude and behavior isn't always easy, least of all in the work setting where we've got a lot on our mind! So adopting the use of mantras as a tool for both individual effectiveness as well as the success of a team can make an important difference. Be disciplined...adopt a mantra that helps you meet the challenges you face today. It's about motivation, focus, positivity, and productivity.
#22 - Coming Out Each one of us, every day, makes calculations about whether it's necessary and it's safe for us to come out. We may need to come out with an aspect of our self identity, with a need or with a fear, with our feelings, with an opinion, or with a big new idea. And everyone around us experiences the same thing. So where do we each decide to draw the line?
#21 - Story Circles Discipline We spend a lot of time talking, meeting and composing emails, yet all of this communication has mixed results. Storytelling has been thoroughly documented as an effective work practice when employed in various ways, but few of us apply it as a regular discipline. The discipline of "story circles" is a work practice you can believe in when you commit to it. Here's a walk through what it could look like.
#17 - When Do We Give Up On Each Other? Over and over through our careers we have to face the calculation of whether we're ready to give up on a colleague. Because of their performance, or their communication style, or their rogue attitude. This is a judgment call with most of the time, so what is it that pushes us to that place of giving up?
#16 - The Tarot of You Tool One preventative measure -- prophylaxis -- that contributes to a more healthy, thriving work environment is for each of us to cultivate our self-awareness. This simple, creative exercise, The Tarot of You, has been a powerful way for me to do just that.
#15 - The Hard Truth About Trust These days I'm hearing constantly about trust being broken, and how challenging it can be to restore trust with colleagues. There is a hard truth -- and a fortunate truth -- about trust. Trust begins with us.
#14 - Accountability Can Be Painless We often bemoan how colleague So-and-So isn't sufficiently accountable, but do we ask what we contribute to this state of affairs? Here are the 6 steps to painless accountability.
#13 - Need to Know How my "need to know" what to do next in order to succeed with my work -- this podcast -- leads me act in five counter-productive ways.
#12 - All About the Bottom Line Healing as a management principle is practical. And how much more practical can we be than to talk about the financials. Let's walk through a model showing how a healing environment translates to your bottom line.
#10 - Supervisory Check-In Tool A tool to help prepare for your regular, meaningful supervisory check-ins where you "see and hear" your team members and create the conditions for empowerment.
#9 - Judy's Dilemma: Do You Have the Power to Heal? Reflection's on feedback from my friend "Judy" who believes the idea of "healing in the workplace" is outside her reach because she doesn't have enough power to influence change.
#8 - Empathy Wheel Tool A simple tool for reflecting on your Self--how you show up--as the starting point to being more open and curious about your colleagues, because we're all equally complex.
#30 S2E3 - Spotting Where Spirit Works Our rational efforts take us far, but only so far. What about Spiritual Intelligence? Each and every day we encounter scenarios where the application of spirit-driven understanding and practices could contribute to even better outcomes than we otherwise already can achieve. Let's think about where we find those opportunities to leverage spirituality.
#7a - A Singer-Actor's Take On Empathy Part one of an interview with Wendy Lane Bailey, singer-actor-producer-teacher, taking lessons from the world of live performance to apply in any workplace.
#7b - A Singer-Actor's Take On Empathy Part two of an interview with Wendy Lane Bailey, singer-actor-producer-teacher, taking lessons from the world of live performance to apply in any workplace.
#38 S2E11 - Crystals Rock Is the air you breathe real? You can't see it. Can scarcely feel it. Yet you believe in it. Another practical tool for strengthening your connection to something bigger is working with crystals, gemstones and "common" stones from your garden. More than lumps of inanimate matter, they are orbs of energy. Consider expanding your repertoire to encompass this new set of friends as a means to be your best.
#37 S2E10 - Afternoon De-Stressor Some time in the middle of the afternoon we have a choice as to how we finish the rest of a productive day. By this time of day we're often in high gear, pushing to get more done before the day ends. What would be the result if we chose this moment in time for a pause? A brief mediation to reconnect with our self...and THEN return to our important business. In this episode you'll experience a ten-minute guided meditation for the mid-afternoon. Call your warrior home and return to your best self.
#54 S3E11 - My Meditation on Hope We need Hope. We all, at times, need to allow ourselves to experience Hope again. Please accept this sharing of a personal self-reflection for opening up to Hope. Friend, this is not a polished episode, but it is heartfelt. Be Lighthearted, DAN.

#11 - A Meditation When You Feel Stressed We often push ourselves hard and experience a sense of burden and stress. This meditative visualization exercise can help you regain your center before pressing on with your responsibilities.
#20 - Energy Vampires You Can Work With We've all encountered them, and maybe we ARE one of them: Energy Vampires. We type-caste them as the Bully, the Showboat, the Rebel, the Naysayer, etc. And we just wish they'd stop. But what's really going on for them and what different energy might we give them so that we can be our best together?
#19 - Take Your Original Medicine Our Original Medicine is that amalgam of gifts and talents that we uniquely bring to the world. Since we spend so much of our life in the workplace, wouldn't it be a good idea to express our Original Medicine in some way? And are you clear about what yours is?
#43 S2E16 - Surrendering on Solstice The winter solstice is a time for turning inward, a time for opening to ask questions, a time for surrender. How does this apply to our working life? We can pursue goals and ambitions without judgment. But if we are to show up as the best version of ourselves that we may offer, what more may we manifest in support of our success....however we may define that? No, no...don't answer the question. For now just verbalize the question. Allow the questions to resonate. What may you release, restore and remember?
#42 S2E15 - Shamanic Potential New does not always mean better. Perhaps our bias to dismiss old ways leads us at times to set aside valuable wisdom. We're all here today because our ancestors survived in part due to a connection with Spirit through the mediation of their shamans. As we enter a new decade of the 21st century increasingly aware of the great risks posed by our economic activity, oughtn't we draw on the full breadth of wisdom accumulated by human kind? Shouldn't we open up to at least a curiosity about the potential for shamanic practice to return as a respected tool for guiding our choices? Count me in!
#59 S3E16 - Making Space for Resolution (Part 2) "Resolution" is one of the more challenging essences on the Essence Map. Join me and my special guest Mariana Cruz, workplace wellness and inclusion expert, of Inclusive MindBody. Over a special two-part interview, we explore the discipline of embodying Resolution for a more productive work-life. In Part 2 we explore resolution more deeply, sharing the practice of "shaking," and exploring the fertile place of "emptiness."

#61 S3E18 - The Forgiving Path to Peace It seems we're increasingly divorced from what is an innate capacity to experience Forgiveness. In this concluding episode of Season 3, Intentional Magic, Dan maps out fours areas in our working life where forgiveness may often be needed, and provides a practical exercise for gaining clarity and release. Identify a situation you're experiencing where forgiveness would be a welcome gesture...by you...and settle in to this episode. Experience Peace.

#60 S3E17 - Poetry for Creativity and Growth The essences of Creativity and Growth are closely related, and also tied to the many experiences reflected around the essence map. In this episode, we consider the application of poetry as a tool or practice for accessing our creativity and allowing ourselves to step back and notice our growth. Yes, poetry in the workplace can be a mechanism for finding our most productive self. Try it!

#58 S3E15 - Making Space for Resolution (Part 1) "Resolution" is one of the more challenging essences on the Essence Map. Join me and my special guest Mariana Cruz, workplace wellness and inclusion expert, of Inclusive MindBody. Over a special two-part interview, we explore the discipline of embodying Resolution for a more productive work-life. #57 S3E14 - 3 Steps to Experience Courage and Empathy Courage and Empathy are two traits or competencies that get a lot of attention in leadership and team development. But we focus too much on these as capabilities we need to develop rather than as latent energies that always exist within us. In this episode, we shift our orientation and consider 3 primary blocks that get in our way of allowing this potential.

#56 S3E13 - Practical Inspiration Inspiration arrives on our doorstep in unexpected ways, but we need to be open and available to receive it. Sometimes inspiration arrives in the form of unexpected or unwelcome feedback. Yuk. In this episode, Dan shares just such an example or hearing a message that was at first uncomfortable. Then we back up and consider the inspiration of the Essence Map tool itself, reviewing exactly how we can apply it as a practical means leading to a more productive and fulfilling work life and personal life.

#55 S3E12 - A Story of Finding Belonging Everyone wants to feel like they belong, including in our work environment. Many of us fall into the trap of seeking that sense of belonging from teammates or from the rewards and recognition we may be able to receive if we just try hard enough. But this isn't the path to experiencing true belonging. We allow ourselves to experience belonging by turning inward. Join Dan and his special guest Rick Sanford, who shares his own beautiful story about finding belonging within and using the new perspective to build community with others.

#52 S3E9 - Power Returning to our Essence Map, we look back to the East and spend some time here unpacking the Essence of Power. This is not an unfamiliar word to use in the work setting, yet the manner in which we respond to the idea of Power relates to everything we bring in the door with us as a result of a lifetime of experiences and influences. So let's play a bit here with the idea of Power. What is our relationship with Power? How would be personify Power? In what ways can be choose to be a leader or a colleague who empowers others?
#51 S3E8 - Commitment Commitment is one of the more familiar essences in the workplace context. Almost goes without saying that we expect to bring a sense of commitment to our work. Yet as obvious a desired state as commitment may be, when Dan sat down to record this very episode, ironically, he had to admit that a sense of commitment just wasn't there. So, he threw out his script and offers here an example of his approach to a self-guided ritual, inspired by shamanic practice, for restoring a sense of connection to a productive endeavor...in this case, Season 3 of this podcast.
