ABOUT THE GUEST
Former beauty editor Lauren Ezekiel’s understanding of the UK beauty market is second to none. With over a decade of experience, writing one of the most eagerly-awaited columns in the UK’s most read magazine, Lauren gained popularity with brands and retailers vying for this all-important nod of approval. From writing long investigative features to interviewing celebrities, she spearheaded all the beauty content in the magazine, regularly directing and producing photoshoots in the UK and abroad.
Lauren's role enabled her to gain experience working on commercial campaigns for the likes of Rimmel London, Maybelline, Braun, Kiehl's Since 1851, St Tropez, Olay, Herbal Essence, Max Factor, Redken, L’Oréal Professionnel, Clairol, OPI, Aussie and Superdrug.
Aside from her role at the magazine, Lauren has consulted for a number of leading beauty brands including Fake Bake, Batiste, Maybelline, Superdrug, Floral Street, Let’s Sanitise, Haze and Le Jeune Skin. As part of her consultation, she has provided brand and product development, copywriting, PR material, and visual direction.
During the first lockdown, Lauren decided to use her time and contacts to show NHS and care workers we were grateful for them, we appreciated them, and we saw them. With her eye for strategy and hardworking ethos, she turned her appeal We C U 2020 into a nationwide success. Managing to secure over 350,000 products from nearly 100 different brands and retailers. These products were then distributed to over 400 hospitals throughout the UK. She inspired a team of 120 volunteers from a hub in London and Manchester to create in excess of 40,000 goody bags. The appeal also donated tens of thousands of essential toiletries to food banks and homeless shelters, as well as over 6000 bottles of hand soap to schools. The appeal was recognised by the Prime Minister (Point of Light award, June 2020) The Telegraph, Independent, Metro, British Citizens Awards, The Sun and Sunday Times Style.

Leigh Easthope, Star Of BBC1's Glow Up After applying for BBC1’s Glow Up series one on a whim and reaching the top three, Leigh Easthope has overcome his colour blindness to achieve his makeup artistry dreams. On this episode Leigh chats about how he has learnt to adapt and use his colour deficiency to his advantage and inspire others.
Brought to you by Timely Business Management Software
KEY TAKEAWAYS

When we are affected by colourblindness, the prevailing wisdom from those above us can often be negative - industries can be closed off. But this isn't the case. There is always a way.
When you are brought up with issues that don't affect anyone else, it forces you to work harder. it also allows you to gain a stronger insight into what makes things work.
When anyone puts their art into the world, you simply have to be brave and develop a thick skin very fast. Not everyone will love what you do, and you need to accept that.
If you are trying to get into a creative industry and you have some kind of deficiency, then remember that the more you work with an issue, the easier it becomes to adopt into your work.

S.3 Ep.12: Deirdra Burley - Cancel Culture in Education Join me as I sit down with Deirdra Burley to discuss cancel culture in education. She is a Sophomore at Chapman University majoring in strategic and corporate communication with a minor in political science. Burley's passion for politics originated in middle school, but her involvement in politics began when she experienced the impact of cancel culture for being conservative:
"After going through a long battle, fighting students and administration for months, I have only become more vocal in my beliefs. Since the start of college, I have interned for the Lincoln Club Institute in Orange County and am currently interning for Congressman Ken Calvert in Corona. My experience has shown me that I belong in politics, and I hope sharing my message will push other students to want to share their stories too. The more we speak up, the stronger we are when fighting the far left."

Celebrity Make-Up Artist, Justine Jenkins As a trailblazer for cruelty-free, vegan products celebrity make-up artist Justine Jenkins has been one of the major forces in raising awareness in the cosmetics industry. This passion led to her writing Sustainable Beauty in December 2021 and today she discusses how if you speak your truth and show passion you can have an impact – and find success.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

A lot of marketing language covers up the truth about the lack of awareness in the beauty industry. Only by raising our voices and making them heard can we get the message out there.
When most people think of sustainability, they think of packaging. Packaging is only the tip of the iceberg. We need to ensure that other factors are added, including living wages to employees and waste management.
Sometimes the fear of failing can hold us back from our dreams. However, we must balance this fear withe the fear of never trying at all.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

Contracts between artists and brands are not easy to obtain, but if they do connect it can take your work to a global audience.
When people try to tell you that success doesn't belong to you, it can fire you up and make you want to prove them wrong. Always use negativity as rocket fuel to push you further.
When you're a freelancer, one of the hardest skills to master is separating your emotions from the job you're doing. It takes mental and emotional resilience to remain positive during quieter periods.
In order to attain longevity, you need to master the art of thinking ahead and staying organised. Ask questions, remain alert and give it everything you have.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

It takes courage to not just choose the path in life that we will follow, but also to identify our true personality, and share it with the world.
Challenges are there to help us grow. We learn far more from setbacks than we do from mediocrity. There are no such things as failures. There are only lessons.
Travel gives us not just the opportunity to see for off places, but also opens up our lives to a world of new opportunities and experiences that can enrich us.
Never be afraid to say yes to an opportunity, even when you might not believe you're ready. A passion for art usually comes with a sense of perfectionism, but you need to let that go.

"A PSA for Car Tweezers" | In Conversation with makeup artist and author Lauren Vena I'm back! Not with part 2 of the last episode, which I released a month ago (more?) but with an incredible conversation with Lauren Vena.
Lauren is a pro-makeup artist with decades of experience and is currently the cover and features MUA for Bella Magazine. Her first book, My Mom: the best mom ever! seeks to accept the messiness of womanhood and motherhood that we all encounter (because it's human and that's super cool!). Lauren is super cool, too. A Jersey girl at heart, we talk about East Coast living, coming up in the beauty industry, and the one product she can't live without (spoiler: its car tweezers).
I hope you like this episode! I'll be back with part 2 of MUAs who revolutionized the game as soon as I'm done with research. There are so many cool people I'm learning about and I can't wait to share them with you! ❤️

What I Wish I Would have Known BEFORE I Stepped Into My Highest Version In this episode, Anita breaks down not only the science and practical side of manifestation but the spiritual side as well, touching on all the things she wished someone told her as she started her manifestation journey.    Tune in as Anita guides you through what to expect when you make the shift, because what it means to release an old version of yourself in order to step into a new one can be difficult. Letting go of an identity and releasing what no longer serves us, but feels safe, is a process and one that needs to be felt and sometimes even mourned. So with Anita’s help, give yourself permission to feel through the process and get clear on who is the next level version of yourself.   KEY POINTS:  - What is quantum leaping?  - Understanding you are already meant to achieve what you desire  - Are you holding on to an old version of yourself? - Why you must release to step into your new reality  - When you shift your perception of yourself, the external world follows    QUOTABLES: “I specifically wanted to make this episode to give everybody that permission to just truly feel this out. And allow yourself to mourn the old version of yourself, the old lifestyle, the old friends and family that you used to hang out with all the time, the conversations that you usually have. So it's really important for you to give yourself the permission to even go through this shift. And then again, allow yourself to feel through the process.”   PRODUCTS / RESOURCES: Sign up for the 31 Days of Abundance Course here: manifestingmoneypodcast.thinkific.com/courses/31-days-of-abundance   Introducing the Manifesting Money Academy!
