Episode 4 New fiction podcast. Love and loss in 1940s Oregon. A love affair turns deadly when an obsessive man is forsaken.Oregon, 1940s: Eve Miller, a young war widow, rebels against the ordinariness of womanhood in the post-war era. Eve is enlightened as she succumbs to the sensual temptation of an adulterous affair. In its aftermath, Eve Miller's life unravels and leads to unexpected violence and moral isolation. Exuberance Is Beauty, is a contemporary interpretation of Adam and Eve's biblical allegory and Eve's fall into desolation.Exuberance is Beauty -- 5 beautiful stars.Amazon Customer Review"This story is intense! The time period is 1940s and the setting is Oregon. The main character, Eve, is whisked away to the middle of nowhere to have her illegitimate baby by a married man who seduced her. When he finds out about the child, he starts terrorizing her. He is a classic sociopath, sucking her in and manipulating her. His character infuriated me, and the author did a great job of provoking strong emotions from this reader. At one point, Eve even ends up in a mental hospital. That section of the book was of great interest to me. The ending of this story was perfect, in my opinion. It was realistic and matched the story itself. I love the way the author pulled it all together, and gave us a terrifying glimpse into the mistreatment of women in the 40's and the utterly disgusting way mental health systems were run. The author's writing was beautiful, despite the dark and intense nature of the story. The characters were well-drawn and the story immensely powerful. Looking forward to reading more from this author. Definitely a 5 star read."Amazon Customer ReviewDonna Barrow-Green Creator, ProducerDarlene Sorensen as Eve MillerEric Schneiwind as Jeff LambertShelley Bryant, Carmen/ Mary / VariousRoss Laguzza, Harry / Frank / VariousOutro Music "Flowers" by Raf Greenhttps://music.apple.com/us/artist/raf-green/896037108https://www.illuminusproductions.com/exuberance-is-beauty/Donate!https://www.patreon.com/illuminusaudio

Episode 8 Exuberance Is Beauty is an audio book brought to life! The immersive pacing of a novel in a fully scripted audio-drama. Do you love fiction podcasts AND audio books? Looking for something to transport you deep into the psychology of compelling dramatic characters? Do you love the narrative structure of a longer piece of fiction? Exuberance Is Beauty is the story of a young woman named Eve who has fallen in love with the wrong man. The 1940s post-war society offers her few choices when she becomes pregnant. As she goes through her pregnancy in this first season, we see Eve in love, ambivalent, but beginning to change. Her lover, Jeff, also see that Eve is changing. Eve's growing independence brings out a terrible side of him. The 1940s view of women allows him the power to force her will or destroy her. In this complicated emotional game, Eve has an ally in Mary-a farmers wife- who has taken her in to have the baby. Together Mary and Eve believe they can secure Eve's choice to build a new life for herself and her child. In Season 1 Eve leaves her home in Portland, Oregon and moves to the country to live with an older couple on their farm. Through letters and telephone calls we are privy to Eve and Jeff's secret life, a world where art, passion, and spirit justifies indiscretion and dishonesty.Written by: Donna Barrow-GreenStarring:Darlene SorensenEric SchneiwindShelley BryantRoss LaguzzaEpisode 8 Appearances:Robin GrayWren IngberOutro Music by Raf Green https://open.spotify.com/artist/2gPagjf5oAnieCbalgmNTo?si=StQCNcR8Tpyek5UOTr9nTgMore about the show:https://www.illuminusproductions.com/
