Dream Sounds I want you to feel at peace. That is why I began this station: to offer a space for you to rebalance the relationship between your mind and body through beautiful and calming music.

I have composed each song on this station with the intention of offering you an aural respite from the noise of everyday life. Here, you will find long audio to help you sleep through the night, or shorter ones, if you only have a few minutes to relax. :)

I compose and play/sing all the music you will hear on this station. You will also find nature sounds we record exclusively for Dream Sounds.

Sometimes work, school, difficult times, etc. can be overwhelming, but I've always found that being surrounded by music has made all these circumstances more bearable for me. My hope is that my music can do the same for you.

Love,
Clarisse xo

Episode #239 Tuesday the Fix; The Journey to Acceptance A view of the journey

As a people of recovery, we have agreed to go on a journey that is filled with challenges and opportunities. There are times when these realities of life seem overwhelming and difficult to understand or accept. We have a human response to embrace what makes us feel good and reject that which feels terrible. Gandhi said “One cannot do right in one department of life while attempting to wrong in another department. Life is one indivisible whole.” The point is, there will be times when the journey is filled with goodness and at other times sadness will take hold. Either way, it is the same journey.

EP 1109B - Chemotherapies that Target Mitochondria: New Leukemia Killing Compounds Researchers have discovered potential new drugs that work in concert with other drugs to deliver a deadly one-two punch to leukemia.Researchers from Rice University and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have discovered potential new drugs that work in concert with other drugs to deliver a deadly one-two punch to leukemia. The potential drugs are still years away from being tested in cancer patients, but a recently published study in the journal Leukemia highlights their promise and the innovative methods that led to their discovery. In previous studies, the research groups of Rice biochemist Natasha Kirienko and MD Anderson physician-scientist Marina Konopleva screened some 45,000 small-molecule compounds to find a few that targeted mitochondria. In the new study, they chose eight of the most promising compounds, identified between five and 30 closely related analogs for each, and conducted tens of thousands of tests to systematically determine how toxic each analog was to leukemia cells, both when administered individually or in combination with existing chemotherapy drugs like doxorubicin.During times of extreme stress, cells can temporarily forgo mitophagy to get an emergency energy boost. Cancer is notorious for hijacking these sorts of programs to fuel pathological growth. For example, previous research has shown leukemia cells have far more damaged mitochondria than healthy cells and are also more sensitive to mitochondrial damage than healthy cells.Natasha joins us today to discuss her findings.

At the root of her practice is, you guessed it, compassion and intuition. In this discussion, Chase and Michelle break down a few controversial health topics along with what we can do to empower ourselves to have greater health. Michelle shares her thoughts on the effects of diet culture and anti-diet culture, fasting, intuitive eating, and functional nutrition practices that actually work for human beings. She also speaks on the relationship between body positivity, body image, physical health, and mental health.  This is a very insightful episode you certainly won’t want to skip over!   Follow Michelle Shapiro @michelleshapirord Visit her website Follow Chase on Instagram @chase_chewning Follow him on Twitter @chasechewning   Key Highlights Michelle sheds light on the role of “new-ancient” health and wellness modalities and the rising anti-diet culture movement. “Overtime, as we’ve seen, chronic illness rates in America have consistently gone up, regardless of the fact that we’re putting more and more [modern Western medicine] interventions into place,” she says. How do you separate yourself from the noise of diet culture and find information that serves you and your needs? Michelle emphasizes the power of intuition and intuitive eating in developing your ideal diet, lifestyle, and wellness practices. Ask yourself questions, especially when making changes to your diet or lifestyle.  “The way that I describe the body positivity movement is that it is an extreme knee jerk reaction to a tremendous amount of very real trauma after a really long time,” Michelle says. She then details the principles of compassion and coddling she uses with her clients to make health changes as well as with her opinions on HAES (Health at Every Size). Michelle shares her unique opinion on the individualization of fasting, highlighting the types of people that would benefit or would not benefit from fasting. Is fasting right for you? Botanicals and Back Pain with John Slattery Could a couple of drops of an herb tincture enable someone who underwent open heart surgery to feel her chest for the first time in four years? Could it help you mitigate and prevent back pain?In our society, it’s easy to think that the most complex, advanced medicine is the best cure for any and all pain. And yet, a powerful tool for pain treatment could be an overlooked plant growing in your backyard. In this episode, Dr. Sanjiv Lakhia and his guest John Slattery of Desert Tortoise Botanicals dive into herbalism and its potential. Botanical medicine has held a key role in medicine since ancient times. Herbalists and indigenous people have preserved wisdom on medicinal plants and how to use them, and they are reviving awareness about botanical medicine.“In the way that the nature of a plant resonates with the nature of an individual, it can allow for opening and release in their physical tissue as the consequence of where that resonance meets, such that a healing experience can be facilitated within their physical body,” says John. “That may sound a little bit metaphysical, and it is, but it's also observable.”Listen to this episode of Back Talk Doc to learn all about botanical medicine and how it can help you treat back pain and other ailments. 💡 Featured Expert 💡Name: John Slattery What he does: John is a bioregional herbalist, forager, and author. Inspired by his desire to improve the accessibility of botanical medicine, he founded Desert Tortoise Botanicals, a company that sells products made from sustainably foraged herbs. Words of wisdom: “Because the body and the mind are inextricably linked, the so-called placebo effect is actually extremely powerful, meaning that how we hold our mind in wave form within our body consolidates into particle form into the tissue.” Connect: Website | Instagram | YouTube Subscribe & Contact👉 If you enjoyed this episode of Back Talk Doc, check out our recent episode The Vagus-Trigeminal-Pain Connection with Sharik Peck, PT.🔎 For more information on Dr. Sanjiv Lakhia and the podcast visit BackTalkDoc.com.🎧 Subscribe in your favorite podcast app.Back Talk Doc is brought to you by Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates, with offices in North and South Carolina. Why Feet Affect Your Whole Body with Karen Kipp & Khalil Elgharsi “The health of your feet is critical to your overall well-being.” - Karen Kipp  Many people are often afraid to seek help for pain due to fear of requiring surgery or medication. However, most don’t realize that small changes to your foot health can make a big difference, if not eliminate it completely. In today’s episode, Karen Kipp and Khalil Elgharsi join Dr. Michelle Robin as they embark on a conversation about why our feet are responsible for so much in our bodies. They both discuss their line of work – reflexology and pedorthy – and explain some common problems they are seeing in people’s feet today. This includes why people are wearing the wrong-sized shoes, why tennis shoes are sized differently than other shoes, why hip pain is higher in the summertime, and how to know if you are wearing the right shoes. Khalil also explains the importance of making sure all 26 bones in your feet and the 18 muscles attached to them are being used and supported at all times.  About Today’s Guests:  Karen Kipp has been a reflexologist for over 25 years and loves helping people feel empowered by providing the tools they need to manifest their wellness vision. In addition to reflexology, her services include wellness coaching, juice fasts, and cleanses for groups and individuals, facilitating a variety of retreats and wellness presentations. Khalil Elgharsi is a pedorthist who has been in the foot industry for over two decades, beginning in New York City and later relocating to Kansas City. He is the owner of Wealcan Medical Equipment, Supplies & Orthotics. 96 | 75 Hard and The Live Hard Program as a MOM! On August 2, 2021 I started 75 Hard for 2 reasons. I like a good mental toughness challenge and I wanted to get super disciplined. At the time, I'd heard of the Phases that follow the initial 75 days, but didn't have any expectation of doing them or not. Well, August 1, 2022 was Day 30 of Phase 3 and my life was in a completely different place.

I completed, as a mom of 2 little boys, a full year of the Live Hard Program. What I didn't know was that the past year would change my business, my mindset, and my LIFE. This podcast and my business were both birthed during this time. And while it wasn't about weight loss for me, I did get back to my pre-kids weight within the first month of 75 Hard. A big chunk of the time during this challenge my husband was gone too. Yet — I did it.

In this episode, you get to hear HOW all of that went down, what 75 Hard entails as well as what is required during Phase 1, 2, and 3 of the Live Hard Program, what I loved about it, what I will not miss ONE bit, and some of the biggest lessons I learned.

If you're thinking about taking on 75 Hard or just need a bit of inspiration for your week, this episode is a MUST listen for you! Enjoy, mama friend!

Life updates, Mid-Year Reflection, Creating a Gratitude Practice for Radical Shifts I'm back! After a long hiatus, I'm so excited to share that I'm officially back to hosting these empowering podcast episodes for you. In today's show, I'm sharing with you why I took a year long break from the podcast along with how I've co-created the life of my dreams since we spoke last. Quote:  "What's the greatest lesson a women should learn? That since day one. She's already had everything she needs within herself. Its the world that convinced her she did not." -Rupi KaurThank you for all your continued love + support! _____________________________________RESOURCESJoin a upcoming breathwork session with me. Steps for Letting Go, Creating a Morning Practice + the Art of Surrender In this episode of the Heal Podcast, I'm sharing practical tips for letting go and practicing the art of surrender. When we learn to ebb & flow with the constant challenges that life throws our way, we become unstoppable. And when we feel grounded within ourselves, we begin to take our power back instead of seeking it from external sources.  Learning how to release the task-master that is our mind is no easy feat so try using the simple breath technique I share with you here anytime you're  in need of extra support.Poem"I was the type of person,That held onto things too tight,Unable to release my grip,When it no longer felt right,And although it gave me blisters,And my fingers would all ache,I always thought that holding on,Was worth the pain it takes,I used to think in losing things,I'd lose part of me too,That slowly I'd become someone,My heart no longer knew,Then one day something happened,I dropped what I had once held dear,But my soul became much lighter,Instead of filled with fear,And it taught my heart that some things,Aren't meant to last for long,They arrive to teach you lessons,And then continue on,You don't have to cling to people,Who no longer make you smile,Or do something you've come to hate,If it isn't worth your while,That sometimes the thing you're fighting for,Isn't worth the cost,And not everything you ever lose,Is bound to be a loss."~e.h I hope today's episode leaves you with tangible action steps you can begin for you're daily journey towards healing + growth.  _____________________________________RESOURCESJoin a upcoming breathwork session with me. HOW TO MASTER THE ART OF SELLING How to Master the Art of Selling Quotes“How many no’s am I willing to accept on my way to success?”― Tom Hopkins, How to Master the Art of Selling“On a piece of paper, write down the formula for our human reaction: S-P-R This stands for Stimulus—Pause—Response.”― Tom Hopkins, How to Master the Art of Selling“If you stop training and learning you start sinking. Nobody can float: You're either rising or sinking. It's been this way for a thousand years. The only difference is that you can rise, or you'll sink, a whole lot faster now.”― Tom Hopkins, How to Master the Art of Selling“I know personally how lonely and frustrating the life of a salesperson can be. When I started, I was as much a failure as anyone until I was able to get the proper training to ensure my success. At that time, I swore if ever I could share my success with others, I would do it with high quality and at an investment that anyone could afford. You may feel that I am trying to sell you something-—and that is true. I’m in the business of selling just like you. However, if you know something is good, you have an obligation to offer it to your client.
