Uncomfortable Conversations Curt and I went a little off the rails on this one.  This is not the episode topic we thought we were sitting down to talk about. Our goal isn't to hurt feelings or offend.  But let's not pretend what we're doing here. This is an uncomfortable topic, and episode.  But it is exactly what someone may need to get the train moving in the right direction.  What do you think?
Officers, Lead The Conversation The Uncomfortable Conversations episode spurred a lot of interaction and engagement.  One of the resounding comments was from officers who are uneasy starting the conversation because they feel they are not in a physical condition to tell someone else that they need to be better. In this episode, Curt and I speak from our perspectives as a senior FF and officer respectively to give some tips and outline our expectations for those who have raised their hand to lead.We don't all love business inspections, but they gotta get done.  I have no problem with a daily fitness routine being approached in the same manner.  Of course, there's more on this in the episode. To support the show and the conversation, go to 4thShiftFitness.com and hit the Buy Me A Coffee button.  We appreciate it, and you.Talk to you soon.

Ep. 70 Your Ability To Believe Determines Your Level Of Success Are you ready to get FIRED UP?!?

I'm not gonna lie, I brought the FIRE in today's solo episode! A quote from the current book I am reading "The Magic of Thinking Big" brought a word that we are all super familiar with into a new perspective. It really helped me think of this word in a new light and I know it will do the same for you!

If you need a kick in the ass to get your week started off right, then this episode will do that for you!!

Check it out, share it and let us know what yall think!

Happy Monday, team!

Let's Get it!
Ep. 71 These THREE Principles WILL Set You Up For Success! I was extra fired up! This wasn’t just a message for y’all but a reminder for myself! I hope this lights a fire under your ass! You ARE capable!
Ep. 72 CHT #6 Secretly Wishing Failure On Others - Your Sh*t Is Broken! Happy Monday Team!
Comin' in HOT! The reigns are off with this episode!
We jump right into today! This episode is jam packed with content on dealing with people who love to hate you! Whether you've experienced it yourself, or have seen it happen to others, we all know there are people out there who just love to see other people fail for no good reason. It's confusing to us to know that there are real people out there who legitimately want to see us fail. Are we vocal about what we do? Hell yes! Do we apologize for it? Hell no!
Here's the thing, when you couple 100% belief in what you do with passion, you get people who not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. What really irritates people is not just the talking or just the executing - it's the combination of both. When you are vocal about the dreams you have and you follow it up with action, for SOME reason (we haven't figured it out yet) people hate it. They like to hear the goals you have. They might even act supportive. Then, when they see you consistently taking action and living out the goals you set for yourself, something changes in them. Something about you executing on your goals makes them resent you.
Let's make this 100% clear - if seeing other people chasing dreams bothers you... if hearing them talk about the big goals they have and the progress they're making irritates you.. if seeing them make progress and hearing them talk about their execution gets under your skin and you secretly wish they fail - YOUR SHIT IS BROKEN!! You have deeper issues inside of yourself that you need to focus on. The fact is that you are afraid they are going to pass you up and live a higher quality life than you do. You hate the fact that someone else is doing something bigger than you are. You want them to fail because you know you aren't fulfilling the dreams you have. Or maybe you don't have any dreams in the first place. Maybe you live the same life every day. Wake up, go to work, punch the clock, do whatever else you do every single day just to waste time, then repeat the next day. How about try coming up with some dreams of your own? How about focusing on making your own life better instead of filling your time with stalking others on social media just to look for them to fail or get annoyed by their posts?
PSA - We aren't going anywhere! We're just getting started. So, if you're watching just to see if we fail, clear your schedule for the next 50 years because you'll be watching and waiting for the rest of your life.
Or you can find something more productive to do with your time. Find a goal to chase. Focus on becoming a better human being. Show some support for your fellow Americans who are doing exactly what this country was created for.
Fix your f*cked up mindset. Ask yourself - If someone else fails, how does that improve my life at all?
More importantly, if you get gratification out of others failing, you have some legitimate issues you need to root out because you're on track to be miserable for the rest of your life. Get the hate out of your heart. It's not doing you any good.
Hope y'all get some value out of this episode! We get pretty fired up, but believe it or not, it is coming from a good place and we want to help others who may be experiencing the same thing. Love you guys and we'll catch ya next time!
Ep. 73 Donut Friday, Guilty Pleasures, Dealing With Struggles Welcome to another episode of The MVMNT!
Who loves donuts as much as we do? (No one. The answer is no one)
We dive right in today! We asked the question on our gym IG a few days ago, "What things fitness, mindset, and nutrition wise do you struggle with?"
We got a lot of great responses and answered a lot of them on the story (to see all of them check out our Q&A story highlight on our IG home page @vigormvmnt) but we didn't get to all of them, so we took some time on the episode to take a dive into a few questions. This was a super productive episode, and we loved answering all the questions!
Some of the struggles we covered include:
- Feeling mediocre at a lot of things, but great at nothing.
- Eating enough to gain weight.
- Cooking my own meals at home.
Ended with another one that we'll start the next episode off with!

Guys - WE LOVE ANSWERING QUESTIONS! Don't hesitate to ask away! It not only gives us an opportunity to help, but it also gives us some great topics to discuss and cover on the podcast!
Hope y'all enjoy the episode! Catch ya next time!
Ep. 74 Know Your Worth. Raise Your Standards Happy Monday, team!

Welcome to another solo episode where our focus is to hit you with some high level motivation to help kick off your week!

This episode is one that I was inspired to do from a main thought that I had all last week and that thought is, until I expect more of myself I will never get more.

I believe this will relate to a lot of you and if it does I hope in encourages you to take action ASAP!!

Enjoy this and as always, if you feel like you got any amount of value from it make sure you share it with a friend or family member!

Thanks for all the support!
Ep. 75 The Importance Of Solitude Happy Hump Day!
This episode is short and sweet - That's for a reason!
It's been a long time since we've given y'all a solo episode with just Trev, and today is the day!
Give this short episode and quick listen and try doing the exercise I suggest at the end! Solitude is so under-practiced. I get it, who wants to just sit in silence? Doesn't sound like a great time, but spending time in silence with just you and your thoughts is so vital to self growth.
I genuinely hope you guys try this mental exercise after you finish the episode. Talk to yourself. Look under every rock that's in your mind and explore why you feel the way you feel and think the way you think.
Hope y'all enjoy! Steph and I will be bringing some fire on a duo episode later this week!
Ep. 76 Self Belief Is Created By Consistently Taking Action Are you constantly doubting yourself, yet somehow feel like you're underachieving? You feel like you can do better, but at the same time have zero confidence when it comes to fitness, health, mindset, or really just anything in general..
We've all been there at some point in our lives. It's a weird place to be. We know we can do better, but at the same time feel like there's no way we can be "like that." Whatever "that" is for you... great job with a big income, nice body, big house, fancy car, whatever it is.. guys, we have to understand that belief does not just happen out of the blue. You're not just going to wake up one day with all the confidence in the world, feeling like you can take on whatever comes your way. Confidence comes from consistent ACTION! If you're just sitting there watching the world go by, wishing you could be or have this or that, you will never be or have it! You don't have to start huge.. you just have to START! Little actions every single day that are going to help you move toward your goals. That's how you build confidence. One day at a time, one action at a time. Consistency + time = success. It's that simple.
The lack of confidence you have in yourself stems from consistently NOT taking action. You don't believe you can do a specific thing because you have been sitting there just wishing you could have it. Wishing does nothing. Wishing without action is just thinking.
If you want to build confidence in yourself, start working towards your goals. Expect hard days. Have a plan. Continue to work towards your goals every day and be patient.
Ep. 77 CHT # 7 (Part 1 of 2) You Are Causing Your Own Stress Welcome back to The MVMNT!
Think of some things that "stress you out." Politics, unfortunate events like car trouble, relationship problems, money, home repairs.. None of which are fun things to deal with. You claim "this" or "that" stresses you out, failing to realize that those things just happen. They don't cause your stress. Your perspective on them is where the stress comes from. Literally what you tell yourself about things that happen is what decides whether they are good or bad.
It seems like we all skate through life picking up as much stress as we can. Flat tire - bad. I'm stressed out. Gas prices sky rocket - bad. I'm stressed out. Some new law gets thrust upon us that we don't agree with - bad. I'm stressed out.
Can you do anything RIGHT NOW to fix whatever the hell it is that you're stressed about?
Yes? Good. Fix it and stop complaining.
No? Good. Move on, stop filling your brain with shit that is just going to make you mad, move on, and stop complaining.
Stop blaming other things for the stress in your life and take accountability knowing that you LET IT "stress you out!" Nothing can cause you stress unless you let it!
Guys, we have full control over the things we CHOOSE to spend our time on. Whether that's reading about something some "idiot" did or said that pisses you off, or doing something productive with your time instead.. you have a choice. You can CHOOSE to fill your time with stuff that you KNOW is going to get under your skin, or you can let that shit go and do something that is going to make you better.
We got fired up in this episode and are excited to bring part two to you! Until then, we hope y'all enjoy this part one episode of our CHT series and get some value out of it!
*BONUS* Ep. 78 A Different Type Of "Motivation" Know this. When we talk on this podcast it's because we CARE about each and every one of our listeners! We genuinely want to see you WIN! Like our intro states, "We are on a mission to create a MVMNT of like-minded people that want to win and want to see others win."
As coaches, mentors and leaders, often times that means we have to speak the truth from a place of love, compassion and empathy. That's what today's episode is all about. I (Stephone) am speaking from the heart. I believe this message is one that you don't hear that often and it's one that is NEEDED for a lot of people.

With our culture today the way it is, glorifying sadness and struggle, I feel like more and more people are just giving into this way of living. We are mentally weak. We have no drive and we feel like they only way we can get attention is when things aren't going well.

Why is this? Well, in my opinion, people don't want to tell others "good job" because if they do, they will feel bad about the stuff they aren't doing with their life. So, we get ignored when good things happen. We get made fun of when we chase a goal or dream. Which in turn forces a lot of people to life of mediocracy.

It's time to stop relying on the opinions and approval of others and start relying on YOU! You have all you need to achieve the goals and dreams you want!

Believe it and act on it!
Ep. 79 CHT#7 Continued You Are Causing Your Own Stress (Part 2) Continuing our convo from episode 77. If you haven't listened to that episode yet, go back and give it a listen.
Hope y'all enjoy! Catch ya next time!
Ep. 80: Stop Defending Your Goals - You Owe Zero Explanations Comin' in HOT with another episode!
This one is something we've all done, or at least felt the need to do at some point. And that's defending our goals. Justifying why we're chasing something. We choose a healthier entree at dinner.. we tell our friends we aren't going out tonight.. we focus on getting some work done instead of going to a social event.. And what happens? Push back. "Come on man. It's just one night." or "You work too much." Or "You need to loosen up and come have a good time."
Here's the thing guys - If people won't support you doing something to better yourself, then they don't really want the best for you. If you have people telling you any of these things, the real matter is that they feel guilty for not doing better for themselves. It may not necessarily be that they want you to be worse, it's more so that they just don't want to be better themselves. They can't stand the thought of getting passed up. When someone pressures you to do something unhealthy or tries to talk you out of chasing a dream, the truth of the matter is that they know they aren't going to put in the same work, so they want to bring you down with them. Crabs in a bucket. They don't want you to level up because then they would feel like they have to level up. They aren't willing to do the work you're willing to do, so instead of doing better themselves, they try to keep you down on their level.
People like this are dangerous because they come off as caring. They say things to make you second guess yourself ONLY because they don't want to feel less than. And that's what we HAVE to understand. If you're getting push back - GOOD! It means you're doing something right and people know your potential! They're ok with being mediocre. But YOU AREN'T! Stand your ground. Stop defending yourself. Why do we feel like we need to explain ourselves when we're simply just trying to be better?
You don't owe any explanations to anyone. That doesn't mean we're telling you to be an asshole. You can still respond, but there is no need to go into detail and try to defend yourself. If they don't get it, they don't get it. That's ok. Do your thing and expect support from NO ONE. The quicker you understand that, the quicker you'll be able to accomplish whatever it is you've set out to accomplish.

Hope y'all get some value out of the episode! Catch ya next time!

[Solo Sesh] Not Everyone Has to Like You Do you take it personally when someone doesn't like you? Do you find yourself annoyed by people who remind you too much of yourself? On Chrystal’s recent Italy retreat, she had an incredible time with the clients who accompanied her. However, one woman didn’t seem to enjoy Chrystal’s presence at all. Instead of being offended by this woman’s negative behavior, Chrystal recognized that happy and healed people do not treat others poorly. [Interview] From Opera Singing to Corporate Coaching with Elena Armijo “This was the piece that I brought as a coach. I can go into those rooms and bring a new idea or approach to maybe something they had forgotten about themselves,” says Elena Armijo, Founder of the C-SUITE COLLECTIVE. After working as a Professional Certified Coach for years, Elena launched her half a million dollar company toward the end of the pandemic. With the C-SUITE COLLECTIVE, Elena supports women in the workforce by providing them with the resources they need to succeed professionally and change the workplace from the inside out. When Elena first began coaching, she assumed she would work best with creatives, as she came from an opera background. However, she found she worked best with corporate professionals because she could reinvigorate their sense of creativity. Now, Elena is motivated to inspire workplaces to become more inclusive and diverse and provide coaching to marginalized groups who may never have had access to that type of support before. Tune into this week’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast for an inspiring conversation on coaching in the corporate world and career transitions. Because if you just work, and you're not connecting with yourself, that's hard.” (10:50 - 10:58 | Elena)• “What I love about coaching is that you can sit with somebody and trust that person across from you to know all the answers for their life and that you are just holding up a mirror and supporting them in their journey towards what they're creating.” (12:16 - 12:32 | Elena)• “What I found is that with upper-level management or middle-level management, I would bring a boldness that was welcomed because everybody is bold and driven in those spaces. But they'd forgotten their creative edge. This was the piece that I brought as a coach. I can go into those rooms and bring a new idea or approach to maybe something they had forgotten about themselves." (13:21 - 13:54 | Elena)• “If you're gonna be a good leader, it's not just about being like, “Follow me, you know, leading the way.” You got to be open to feedback, and then you got to be open to making mistakes.” (26:55 - 27:06 | Chrystal)Connect with Elena Armijo:https://elenaarmijo.com/ Connect with Chrystal:http://chrystalrose.com/https://www.selflovebreakfastclub.com/https://www.instagram.com/xtalrose/https://www.instagram.com/selflovebreakfastclub/To join our Self Love Breakfast Club text community, text SLBC to 704-270-6577.Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm
[Girlfriend Chat] The Dangers of Unfair Criticism with Deb McCollum Have you ever been publicly criticized for how you dress or what your opinions are? Have you ever openly criticized others for the same things?Deb McCollum returns for a girlfriend chat about people who tear others down on this week's episode of The Self Love Breakfast Club. It may seem harmless to make fun of a celebrity on a blog, but our words have an impact. Not only does this behavior hurt others, but it also doesn't address the reason why we feel malice towards them. Whether someone triggers you because of unresolved insecurities or jealousy, it's important to work on yourself and trust that all people are capable of change.Tune into Deb and Chrystal's conversation on the subjectivity of fashion, accepting life's triggers, and the divisiveness of our current social climate. Learn how they became more supportive people, who try to make others feel good about themselves to create a kinder, more accepting world.Quotes• “There's so many things in life that are subjective right? Beauty being one of them, fashion, clothing. We all forget that we're not going to be the same. This is what frustrates me, especially, if it's women criticizing women specifically. We are all different, do you want someone to be exactly the same as you?” (6:01-6:22 | Deb)• “If someone activates something in you or triggers something in you, that's your problem. That's something that you need to look at. That's either something you're seeing reflected in them that you haven't made peace within yourself or you're battling in yourself or it's a fear you might have for yourself. Or, it could also be on the flip side, you're seeing something and you don't believe that you can have it, right?” (14:28 - 14:52 | Chrystal)• “We're in this time where everything is so divided and people are ‘this’ or ‘that.’ And if you're not ‘this’ or ‘that,’ it's really kind of frustrating because you're like, I don't even fit in with any of you people and you guys are fighting each other. And you'll probably just fight me too, because we don't fit here.” (15:30-15:50 | Chrystal)• “I've tried to teach myself to just be supportive. If you're going to say something out loud, just know that if it comes back to you, you better fucking own it.” (25:40 -25:50 | Deb)• “Fundamentally at our core, people are capable of change and we're supposed to change for the better ideally. So, just because someone has been unkind before doesn't mean they deserve it. You know, no one deserves to be shit on really.” (28:36 - 28:55 | Chrystal)• “Your words have an impact. Wouldn't you rather, to a stranger, make them feel good about themselves or help them to feel good?” (32:36 - 32:44 | Deb)Connect with Chrystal:http://chrystalrose.com/https://www.selflovebreakfastclub.com/https://www.instagram.com/xtalrose/https://www.instagram.com/selflovebreakfastclub/To join our Self Love Breakfast Club text community, text SLBC to 704-270-6577.
[Girlfriend Chat] Giving Yourself Permission to Quit with Deb McCollum Does the idea of quitting a job or a hobby make you anxious? Is there something you are still doing that no longer serves you, but you’re sticking with it because of what other people might think about you?Deb McCollum returns for a girlfriend chat about quitting and how liberating it can be. We grow up with so many negative connotations around the concept of quitting. We tend to avoid quitting things because we have internalized the idea that this shows vulnerability or causes others to look down on us. People grow over time and what used to serve us may not anymore. Therefore, it is important to give yourself permission to move on to new things that will better fit into your lifestyle and bring you more happiness. Tune into today’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast to learn why it doesn’t reflect poorly on you as a person if you choose to quit something that is no longer serving you. Learn how empowering it is to recognize that if something isn’t for you anymore, you have the ability to stop doing it. Quotes• “No one’s mad at you, and if they are, it’s fine. They can be mad.” (12:25-12:29 | Deb)• “I think we’re moving into an era and it’s really exciting to see people owning that they just don’t want to freaking do something anymore. You deciding that this was no longer for you doesn’t mean anything bad about you.” (17:37-17:56 | Deb)• “As a society, we attach to identities and run with them… But we grow and change and evolve over time, so there’s going to be a point where an identity that felt really freaking good just doesn’t fit anymore.” (26:25-26:49 | Chrystal)• “Quitting is okay. It’s okay to quit. You’re not the same person you were 10 minutes ago.” (30:00-30:08 | Chrystal) Connect with Deb McCollum:https://www.instagram.com/gingerspice28/Connect with Chrystal:http://chrystalrose.com/https://www.selflovebreakfastclub.com/https://www.instagram.com/xtalrose/https://www.instagram.com/selflovebreakfastclub/To join our Self Love Breakfast Club text community, text SLBC to 704-270-6577.
[Girlfriend Chat] How to Say Goodbye to Overextending Yourself with Deb McCollom Do you question your self-worth if you’re not always hustling? Do you wear being “busy” as a badge of honor despite being in a constant state of burnout?Deb McCollom returns for a girlfriend chat about letting go of the constant need to overextend yourself. We grow up believing that if we’re not always padding our calendar, then we’re lazy and not doing enough to succeed. When our friends ask how we’re doing, we quickly answer “busy” without honestly reflecting on how we feel. Although it is normal to have a full life and many passions, it is also okay to relax and fill your space with the things that bring you joy.Tune into today’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast for an honest conversation about simplifying your schedule. Learn how to separate your worth from your hustle, take a break when needed, and realize that the world isn’t over if you stop doing the “most.”Quotes• “I think it is this hustle culture and feeling like we have to hustle for our worth. Right? Like, if I'm not doing the most, then I'm not good enough.” (04:01-04:11 | Chrystal Rose)• “I had to come up with this concept of feeding the beast. Everything I do has to feed the same beast. And if I'm feeding multiple beasts, we have a problem.” (07:56-08:10 | Chrystal Rose)• “Whoever's listening, if you're like, yep, I'm busy, it's okay to be multi-passionate, but have that break and do not feel the need to fill your calendar when you don't need to fill your calendar.” (11:00-11:12 | Deb McCollum)• “I'm filling that space with things that I want to do and the things that give me joy. I try to make a concerted effort to be like, nope, not doing anything this evening. I'm getting better at saying no to those things so that I can just relax.” (14:06-14:23 | Deb McCollum)• “The world has not shattered and fallen apart. And I'm like, here I am. Two businesses. Not doing the most. And everything's going great.” (22:36-22:48 | Chrystal Rose)• “We are not going to rush; we are not going to go crazy. We're not going to fucking kill ourselves at work right now. We have to be mentally okay.” (25:39-25:52 | Deb McCollum)Connect with Deb McCollum:https://www.instagram.com/gingerspice28/Connect with Chrystal:http://chrystalrose.com/https://www.selflovebreakfastclub.com/https://www.instagram.com/xtalrose/https://www.instagram.com/selflovebreakfastclub/To join our Self Love Breakfast Club text community, text SLBC to 704-270-6577.

It's not serving you anymore.” (8:44 - 9:00 | Deb) • “Isolation, for me, is good because then I have to force myself to go through my brain and move through it. Otherwise, I would bury that shit.”  (24:22 - 24:35 | Deb) • “In these deep, deep relationships with my clients, my job is not to fix them. Not only is it not my job, but that's not what they need.” (27:10 - 27:23 | Chrystal) • “Some things you just need to leave alone and work through. Why do I have to be the cat lady? Why can't I just be the single lady who has no kids?’ (18:27-18:40 | Deb)• “There's so many different shades of love. And you can love someone like a child whether or not you birth them.” (24:02-24:09| Chrystal)• “If you're so bothered by someone else's life choices, you probably made some choices you're not happy with.” [Chrystal] (34:51 - 34:58)• “I just want to give women permission that it's okay if you want to be child-free.” [Deb] (41:19 - 41:25 |Deb)Connect with Chrystal:http://chrystalrose.com/https://www.selflovebreakfastclub.com/https://www.instagram.com/xtalrose/https://www.instagram.com/selflovebreakfastclub/To join our Self Love Breakfast Club text community, text SLBC to 704-270-6577.Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm
[Solo Sesh] Enjoying The Process Do you struggle to appreciate your milestones? Do you focus too much on where you want to be versus where you are?In honor of Self-Love for Breakfast’s 60,000th download, host Chrystal explains why you should celebrate your journey to success as much as the destination. As an ambitious woman, Chrystal understands the pressure we put on ourselves to get to where we want to be. We often forget to appreciate the small things and then automatically move the target when we achieve our goals. However, if we honor the milestones along the way, we can enjoy the present and every stage of our lives.Tune into this week’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast for an uplifting conversation on self-appreciation. Learn more about Chrystal’s podcast goals, why you shouldn’t put yourself in a box, and how to give yourself the gratitude you deserve.Quotes•  “Many social media and marketing experts will tell you my biggest mistake is that I do not have a niche. I don't like the idea of putting yourself in a box. I don't like the idea of putting myself in a box. I don’t think that benefits either of us. And if that means that I'm slower to success with my podcast, so be it.” (5:13 - 5:44)•  “I get to decide, and so do you. When we're talking about getting to where we want to go, we get discouraged that we're not “there.” But I will tell you, when you get there, it's not going to feel the way that you want it to feel if you don't do the work to be here today.” (6:19 - 6:43)•  “When you get to where you want to go, the targets have already moved. This is why it's so crucial to celebrate. This is why it's crucial to enjoy this journey as if it were the destination.” (10:05 - 10:18)•  “Celebrate every damn thing in your business that's good. Even if it feels silly.” (11:23 - 11:29)•  “You owe it to yourself to celebrate every day if you can—something small, something big, something medium. You owe it to yourself because when you get to the big thing and are not used to celebrating, you're not going to celebrate it. You're not going to give it what it deserves.” (21:15- 21:35)Connect with Chrystal:http://chrystalrose.com/https://www.selflovebreakfastclub.com/https://www.instagram.com/xtalrose/https://www.instagram.com/selflovebreakfastclub/To join our Self Love Breakfast Club text community, text SLBC to 704-270-6577.Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm
[Girlfriend Chat] Not Here To Judge: The Alpha Female with Deb McCollum Are you a strong woman who others call “intimidating?” Are you afraid to stand in your power? For today’s girlfriend chat, Chrystal shares an episode of Deb’s podcast, Not Here To Judge, where they discuss the “alpha female” type. Many women will stray away from seeming alpha because they don’t want to seem off-putting. Or they believe they have to act overtly masculine to be considered strong. However, Deb and Chrystal remind their listeners that an alpha woman is simply someone who is not afraid to stand in her power and be proud of who she is and what she brings to the table.  Tune into this week’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast for a stimulating conversation on the alpha female. Learn more about the defining features of a strong woman, the distorted versions of feminine and masculine traits, and how you can open up your world by stepping into your divine feminine power.Quotes•  “I'm not intimidating, you're intimidated. There is a difference.” [Chrystal] (3:58 - 4:01)•  “An alpha female is a strong woman standing in her power and strength.” [Chrystal] (4:31 - 4:36)•  “I think more women are alpha females than they realize. And I think it's important for women to stand in their power and to stand their ground and to be proud of who they are and what they've accomplished.” [Deb] (6:42 - 6:56)•  “When we take a step back and into our actual divine feminine power, the whole world opens up and we can fucking do anything.” [Chrystal] (16:19 - 16:30)•  “I love when alpha females can stand in their energy together.” [Deb] (33:04 - 33:08)Connect with Chrystal:http://chrystalrose.com/https://www.selflovebreakfastclub.com/https://www.instagram.com/xtalrose/https://www.instagram.com/selflovebreakfastclub/To join our Self Love Breakfast Club text community, text SLBC to 704-270-6577.Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm
[Solo Sesh] Digging Into “Toxic Positivity” Have you heard the term “toxic positivity” but are unsure what it means? Do you find yourself in a never-ending negative feedback loop?  Host Chrystal recognizes that bypassing your anxiety and depression is a form of toxic positivity. However, allowing yourself to give in to your worst feelings without attempts to move forward can trap you in a permanent state of negativity. Ultimately, if we honor our emotions, whether good or bad, we can learn to let go and attract the life we’ve always wanted and deserve. Tune into this week’s episode of Self-Love for Breakfast for a truthful conversation about toxic positivity. Learn more about the difference between honoring your feelings and a negative feedback loop, the power of our subconscious, and how having a better life is possible if we believe it.Quotes•  “If you're in a negative feedback loop, you're not really feeling your feelings, you're feeling a story.” (6:23 - 6:28)•  “If we want to feel better, grow, and move onward, we need to let it go. And the only way to truly let it go is to feel it and let it be there. Meet it with love, sit with it as long as it needs to be there, and then release, surrender, and let it go.” (7:09 - 7:26)•  “There's a big difference between someone who is honoring their feelings and someone who is toxic and negative. Negativity and sadness are not the same. Negativity and anger are not the same. Negativity is a refusal to get out of it. Negativity is a refusal to move through the feeling.” (11:06 - 11:38)•  “Your reality is a direct reflection of your subconscious. Your reality is a direct reflection of your belief system.” (16:09 - 16:18)•  “If I decide that the better life gets, the better it gets, then it's going to keep getting better.” (17:16 - 17:24)•  “Everything you have or don't have in your life is a direct reflection of how you feel on the inside. And if you are working towards things and you don't have them yet, they're coming. If you believe they're coming.” (20:35 - 20:49)Connect with Chrystal:http://chrystalrose.com/https://www.selflovebreakfastclub.com/https://www.instagram.com/xtalrose/https://www.instagram.com/selflovebreakfastclub/To join our Self Love Breakfast Club text community, text SLBC to 704-270-6577.Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

It doesn't have to be hard.” (11:48 - 11:56 | Chrystal)•  “We get to decide if it's going to be difficult or if it's going to be easy. And I've decided it's going to be easy.” (12:09 - 12:17 | Chrystal)•  “When we can zoom out, sit back, and look at our lives and have gratitude for what's here now, that is when we can enjoy life.” (17:30 - 17:40 | Chrystal)•  “Have gratitude for the ups and the downs as you get to where you are inevitably going because if it's what you want, and if it's what you desire, and you believe it in your heart, then it is for you.” (21:20 - 21:32 | Chrystal)Connect with Chrystal:http://chrystalrose.com/https://www.selflovebreakfastclub.com/https://www.instagram.com/xtalrose/https://www.instagram.com/selfloveforbreakfastclub/To join our Self Love Breakfast Club text community, text SLBC to 704-270-6577.Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

Ep 230 Do You Have a RELEASE? ft. Coach Chris Wilson Is all of the worry, tension and stress of life festering inside your body? How do we manage our emotional state from one day to the next?  Without establishing healthy outlets to rid yourself of the anxiety of life you will spend your time treading water and fighting for air. Never happy, never content.   Today on SBD coach Chris Wilson talks about the necessity of finding positive ways to deal with the stressors in life. Simple things all people can do to infuse joy and purpose in their lives.  We must discover beneficial habits and routines that can revitalize us while squashing anxiety and worry. Ep 227 Are YOU the Victim? ft. Chris Wilson Overcoming the victim mindset begins with you and some accountability. If you see yourself as someone who does not have control over their own life, that everyone is responsible for your feelings, actions and results, then you are suffering from the victim mentality. Your actions can absolutely dictate what does or does not happen to you. In life it is necessary to get uncomfortable to change and to grow. Having the hard talks when you don't want to and the necessary confrontations in the workplace, at home and in any meaningful relationship. Today on SBD coach Chris Wilson shares his personal struggles and successes with accountability and what in his opinion are the best 'simple' strategies to begin holding yourself accountable in life.   "We must train ourselves to use new language in our own heads. The words we use internally matter. What you tell yourself repeatedly you eventually believe... right or wrong." -Chris Wilson   Time Stamps 00:00 – The true meaning of living in the present moment 1:17 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design’ podcast 7:19 – Victim mindset: Ways to navigate through it 11:44 – The power of knowing your ‘WHY’ 14:34 – The importance of living in the moment 16:59 – Host Chris Wilson on dealing with difficult times in life 19:43 – Discover the best strategies to get out of the victim mindset 25:38 – The power of positive self-talk 26:40 – The importance of being grateful     Connect w/ Chris: Facebook Instagram   Connect w/ CriticalBench:  Youtube Facebook Instagram CriticalBench.com StrongByDesignPodcast.com
Ep 229 Do Baby Baptisms Count? ft. Jared Haley Baptism does not bring salvation.   So then, why do believers in Jesus Christ as the Son of God get baptized?  The concept of baptism seems so simple, get dunked under water by a church pastor and recognize Jesus as your Lord and Savior. But there are so many differing beliefs about ‘why’ we should or should not be baptized and when that should occur.  Why do babies get baptized in many denominations of the Christian faith? And what are the three big reasons why adults should get baptized?  On today’s SBD episode, our guest Jared Haley, pastor and video production specialist for Critical Bench, answers all of these common questions regarding baptism in the church.    "Baptism is not for salvation... My decision to follow Jesus and my salvation,  I have to be old enough to make that decision in my own heart and for my own life. Nobody can make that decision for me." - Jared Haley      Time Stamps   00:00 – The power of walking in obedience to God  00:48 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design’ podcast  05:55 – Get to know today’s special guest, Jared Haley  07:40 – Jared shares his kids’ baptism experience  12:56 – Is Baptism necessary for salvation?  21:01 – Baby baptism vs. baby dedication: What’s the difference?  26:51 – The true meaning of Baptism  32:24 – Why was Jesus baptized?  34:08 – Jared on why you should get baptized  46:33 – Is baptism a public declaration of your Faith?    Connect w/ Jared:  Facebook  Instagram    Connect w/ CriticalBench:   Youtube  Facebook  Instagram  CriticalBench.com  StrongByDesignPodcast.com
Ep 231 Passion is the Fuel behind All Success What is passion? And are you living a passion filled life?  For our team here at Critical Bench we define passion this way… Passion is a deep love of who we are, what we do and who we serve.  It is one of our 7 core values that guides us, leads us and creates the foundation for our purpose at work and in the world.  Another important question to explore is, “Are you a slave to your work?”   In this episode on SBD, coach Chris Wilson passionately discusses these questions and more based on an article he recently read in Forbes. Remember, you are not a robot, you were designed for greatness and passion is one of the keys to unlocking it.    "When passion is fueling what you do, you will naturally outwork and outlast your competitors." - Chris Wilson    Time Stamps   00:00 – From TGIF to TGIM: Start looking forward to Monday  00:41 – Welcome to the ‘Strong by Design’ podcast  4:04 – Host Chris Wilson recounts the creation of the company’s core values  09:06 – Why PASSION is the key to success  14:12 – Do you lose yourself in your work?  17:20 – How PASSION sets you apart from your competitors  25:01 – Discover the 7 Keys to be ‘Strong By Design’  26:02 – How can you identify your passion?    Connect w/ Chris:  Facebook  Instagram    Connect w/ CriticalBench:   Youtube  Facebook  Instagram  CriticalBench.com  StrongByDesignPodcast.com

Episode 56 - Adam Powell - "Darkness is a hell of a coach" Before his MS diagnosis, Adam Powell was an athlete, workaholic, partier, and concertgoer, just doing whatever he wanted to do. Over the course of five weeks, he lost the ability to walk and drive, which, combined with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, turned his world upside down. However, Adam fought back with physiotherapy, yoga, and an intense fitness routine. In our chat, Adam talks about his early symptoms, the importance of getting the right health team, and, of course, the benefits of exercise. Adam doesn't let his MS define him but don't call him positive, even though (at the time of recording) he will soon be taking part in the 2022 Milford Walk MS. Episode 58 - A Message From Kathy About Courage Inspired by my recent chat with Adam Powell, I share some personal thoughts about Courage, my word of the year.In my experience, people within the chronic illness community don't give themselves enough credit for all of the courageous things that they do. Episode 60 - Medical Injustice in MS Care Part Two I'm continuing my exploration of what the MS diagnostic and treatment processes are like for MSers of color. As I mentioned previously, MS is considered a white person's disease. So how does it feel to go through it all when people don't believe that you can have it?For the second part of this series, Dawn Morgan is joined by Tyler Campbell and Mike Stafford. We talked about my guests' health and lifestyle choices, the difficulty of adjusting to an MS diagnosis when there is no one who looks like you in the MS space, and their need to be proactive and become the advocates that they wish they'd had when they were first diagnosed.Thank you so much to all of my guests for sharing their experiences in these two episodes.Links and resources:Connect with my guests: Dawn Morgan, Mike Stafford, and Tyler Campbell Read Some Days: A Tale of Love, Ice Cream, and My Mom's Chronic Illness by Julie Stamm Find out more about my new DMAT Fitness Training programYou can find Kathy Chester atdisruptfitnessgym@gmail.com moveitorloseit109@gmail.com Instagram - @msmoveitorloseit @disruptfitnessgymHere are some additional products that help Kathy deal with beating the Heat and Migraines.  Take advantage of the coupon code.Koldtec - Cool Head WrapKOLD10To save $10 off every item in-store.2 items = $20 savings3 items = $30 savingshttps://www.koldtec.com/ Cold bean bag Releafpack. 15% discount use code Disrupt15https://www.releafpack.com
Episode 51 - Dr. Anthony Feinstein and the Neurobehavioral Consequences of Multiple Sclerosis We've been talking a lot recently about depression, cognition, and Multiple Sclerosis. It makes sense that, as MS can affect the brain, it's probably going to change what's going on up there. But it's still a relatively recent idea that physical changes to the brain are going to affect the way we feel, how we think, and how we interact with others. My guest today is Dr. Anthony Feinstein, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and a neuropsychiatrist. His research and clinical work focuses on people with multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and Conversion Disorder. He's also the author of the book,  Mind, Mood, and Memory: The Neurobehavioral Consequences of Multiple Sclerosis. In this interview, we talk about how he became interested in working with people with MS, how changes to the brain can worsen cognitive issues and levels of depression, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) as a means to manage the way we think and behave, and what patents can do to maintain their brain health.I always say, Move It Or Lose It - but in this case, it could be Use It Or Lose It. And Dr. Feinstein gives us examples of things we can do to keep our brains healthy.Links and resources:Connect with Dr. Anthony Feinstein at the Sunnybrook Research Institute and University of TorontoBuy Mind, Mood, and Memory: The Neurobehavioral Consequences of Multiple Sclerosis by Dr. FeinsteinYou can find Kathy Chester atdisruptfitnessgym@gmail.com moveitorloseit109@gmail.com Instagram - @msmoveitorloseit @disruptfitnessgymHere are some additional products that help Kathy deal with beating the Heat and Migraines.  Take advantage of the coupon code.Koldtec - Cool Head WrapKOLD10To save $10 off every item in-store.2 items = $20 savings3 items = $30 savingshttps://www.koldtec.com/ Cold bean bag Releafpack. 15% discount use code Disrupt15https://www.releafpack.com

Dr. Banik is internationally known for her expertise in ophthalmic and neuro-ophthalmic care. An Energetic Chiropractor? This week’s guest, Dr. Diana Salazar, is an Energetic Chiropractor specializing in gentle adjustments, proactive postural training and intuitive healing. Her goal is to help people feel better and learn how to take care of their unique bodies. She blends Reiki, energetic breath work with manual therapy and exercises to create an introspective mind-body-spirit experience. We became quick friends when Zoom and/or we were having sound issues and we were both able to see the humor in our situation. After we got that taken care of we found that we shared a similar view that health involves a lot more than just your “numbers”. She wants her patients to increase their awareness of themselves and to feel better day to day and not just when they walk out of her office. I’m sure you will enjoy listening to her refreshing view on her role as a chiropractor. If you’d like to learn more go to her website bodyinbalanceny.com

Simple Self Connection This week’s podcast is with Michaela Ellis, an Alberta, Canada, based coach. Michaela, like so many of us, spent 17 years in government and corporate work where she discovered her natural ability to connect and help people. In 2020, after many years of self-doubt, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and substance abuse she came across a simple understanding of the spiritual being she is and how her experience of life was actually of her own doing. Today she helps people trust themselves by separating truth from story, reducing conflict within themselves, their bodies, and their life circumstances. You’ll enjoy hearing more of her story and learning about how this new understanding changed her life. You can contact Michaela at  michaela@simpleselfconnection.com

Healthy Skeptic Returns Robert Davis, The Healthy Skeptic, was on HTA50 in October of last year to talk about his book Supersized Lies. Today he’s returned to talk about his newest book, Fitter Faster which answers how to get fit in just minutes a day. Fitter Faster is an update of an earlier book which reflected Robert’s interest in fitness. For this new edition he’s teamed up with Brad Kolowich, a personal trainer from Atlanta, to go deeper into, among other things, how to select your best routines, weights, at a gym, what time of day to workout, and how to keep exercising. They have also included a comprehensive program that you can use as a blueprint for creating your own program that you will enjoy and consequently stick with. And one thing Robert says on the podcast is that exercise is the closest thing that we humans have to a fountain of youth. So listen in to the whole podcast - then go out and buy his new book to start, change, or just continue your exercise routine. You can buy it here on amazon - https://amzn.to/3N8TTpA

How Jake Went From Anorexic and Dying to Fit and Healthy This podcast is going to get dark. And graphic. This episode is a cautionary tale of just how grim it can get in the throes of disordered eating, anorexia, and mental illness. But it’s also a tale of hope, because my guest Jake tells his story of how he came out the other side of his eating disorder with a newfound respect for his fitness, and a far healthier body and mind to show for it.
Before finding my work, Jake developed body dysmorphia and an eating disorder. He was diagnosed with anorexia at the age of 17, hospitalized, and relapsed a number of times.
In this interview, Jake tells his story of what it was like navigating his mental illness and eating disorder, losing his college tennis scholarships, dealing with refeeding syndrome, and more.
Things could’ve ended very poorly for Jake, but luckily things turned around for him. When he found The Little Black Book of Workout Motivation, he was able to change his relationship with fitness (and even his performance in school). Now he’s been able to find what works for him with his training and diet, and not go down a bad path like before.
I wanted to bring Jake on the show because while his exact story isn’t commonplace, perhaps it can be motivating for anyone who’s taken a misstep in their life or fallen on dark times. After all, everyone has their own demons they're battling and can overcome.
So if you’re looking for a jolt of inspiration and like motivational stories, definitely listen to this episode.

The Best of Muscle For Life: Full-Body Workouts, Habits to Keep Weight Off, & Elon Musk Should you be doing full-body workouts? What habits will not only help you lose body fat, but keep it off for good? What can we learn from Elon Musk?
Some people—my favorite people—listen to most or even all of my podcasts, but my wizbang analytics tell me that while many listeners tune in on a regular basis, they don’t catch every installment of Muscle for Life and thus miss out on insights that could help them do at least a little better inside and outside the gym.
That’s why I do “best of” episodes that contain a few of the most practical and compelling ideas, tips, and moments from the more popular episodes I’ve published over the years. This way, you can learn interesting insights that you might have otherwise missed and find new episodes of the show to listen to.
So, in this installment of The Best of Muscle for Life, you’ll be hearing hand-picked morsels from three episodes:
