BRAIN MAPPING FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Brain mapping and Mental Health. Just like a phone repair is able to ask a couple of questions to run a few diagnostic measures to rule some things out, well think about brain mapping in the same way. It’s a tool that allows us to see what is exactly going on in your brain that could be causing you to feel some of the symptoms you may be reporting.

IN THE 21st CENTURY

It’s no longer enough as professionals to just go based on symptom reporting. We need assessments and tools that look at physiology we need to start training in the 21st century if we want to be optimal and mentally healthy.

79. LOVE ARCHETYPES – And how they influence all your relationships… Following on from the ever-popular Love Languages episode, Jimi and Libby dive even deeper into the realms of love in intimate relationships, this time discussing Love Archetypes – aka the personal attributes you bring to a relationship and how they impact the decisions you make and how you treat those around you.
Revealing their own love archetypes they dissect the benefits and pitfalls of each type and talk about how being on complete opposite ends of the spectrum helps them work together to find the best ways to share a life together.
They explain how an understanding of your own and your partner’s love archetype can be a useful tool for your relationship. 76. PROFESSOR JESSE BERING – SUICIDE; Why we kill ourselves and what we can do to stop it… TRIGGER WARNING: Discussion of suicide.
This is a positive and proactive discussion about suicide and it is a topic that should be discussed. But, if you are not in a good place right now or sensitive to the topic then please place your mental health first and go and seek help if needed.

Jimi talks candidly with experimental psychologist, Professor Jesse Bering, a leading scholar, essayist and science writer specialising in evolution and human behaviour.
Focusing on Jesse’s most recent book; ‘Suicidal – Why We Kill Ourselves’, Jimi & Jesse have an honest and frank discussion about their own history with suicidal thoughts and what helped them get through.
They talk through some of the research about what causes people have suicidal ideations and urges and outlines some of the ways to help get through and overcome them.
A greatly important topic that needs to be discussed, suicidal thoughts affect a huge, and perhaps surprising, percentage of the population at some point. It’s a uniquely human phenomenon, it all depends on what we do with them.

Allen graduated with honors in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. Kim went on to attain a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and works within the financial services industry, but her love of sports and her desire to teach kids basketball and volleyball led her to become a coach at the middle school and

Kim currently coaches the Lincoln Charter Varsity Girls basketball team and has been at the helm for the past 7 years and has compiled a record of 117 – 53, with 6 Conference Championships, 4 Conference Tournament Championships, 4 Coach of the Year Awards, 3 Player of the Year Awards and a host of All-Conference Awards.

Although Kim has had much success and coached many girls that have gone on to play at the collegiate levels, her greatest joy is to be able to “Pay it forward,” providing a child with the same opportunity and guidance that was given to her. 73. GRIEF (and how to overcome it…) with Dr John McEwen Returning to the podcast once again is one of Jimi’s favourite human beings of all time, the person who he credits as helping him make the very first moves up the mental fitness continuum, Dr John McEwen.
In this episode, they dive deep into the waters of grief.
Death is inevitable and grief can appear in many forms throughout our lives. It’s unavoidable, but are we handling it well as a society? And how do we move forward when we’re experiencing grief?
Jimi and John discuss how to move through grief in an active way, not letting it consume us or become part of our identity.
They offer effective, actionable steps to take to process grief and the feelings and emotions that come with it.
They talk about the difference between pain and suffering and how understanding that difference that can impact our ability to move through grief.
Believing that grief is a gift, John explains how to build on what grief teaches us, not wallowing in the emotion – as he so eloquently puts it:
“Let the grief educate the life.”
“The active processing of pain is that we are dealing with it, and we’re confronting it and we're being honest with ourselves and with the pain.
Suffering is ‘oh, woe is me’. I think suffering is defined in terms of narcissism where we’re starting to get ‘secondary gain’ so rather than recovering, we’re getting, actually, a gain by being debilitated.”

Another question, I often ask myself as a licensed mental health clinical and mental fitness consultant is do we even know how to assess how we’re doing from a personal mental health perspective, let alone being able to recognize a mental health concern or emergency in our loved ones and others?

It’s time to talk about mental health and go a little deeper into some of the questions and signs that you can ask yourself so that you can begin to make it a habit of checking in on your mental health.

Stay tuned to the end of the show, as I will be sharing some ways that we can naturally support our mental wellness, improving our energy levels and mood. I think no matter where we are, we should all have tools in place to support our mental health.

On today’s show, I’m going to talk specifically to help you ask the questions for yourself so that you know if there is some underlying anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts that need to be addressed and a closer eye.
