As we learned on the last episode, everyone has voices in their heads that influence their day-to-day life—for the better and the worse. Once we become aware of those voices and can identify who is speaking at any given time, that's when we can begin to implement the secret formula of life… in other words, find success, happiness, and fulfillment!
Today, we welcome back Amy VanDeWater of Glue Veterinary Coaching for the second installment in our series on emotional intelligence, a.k.a. our ability to be aware of and manage our emotions and the emotions of others. She believes EQ is a superpower that can have a massive impact on our lives, and the sooner we learn to wield that power, the sooner we can achieve our heroic quest to find happiness, success, and fulfillment.
In this episode, Amy defines the second tenet of EQ: Self-management. Along with self-awareness, this is the cornerstone of the secret formula of life. Once we have achieved self-awareness, we can use the formula to begin reprogramming our brain's default responses and gradually improve our experience. With a little bit of work, this can be the key to fulfillment, both professionally and personally!

While most know Rick for his Man in Motion tour and his incredible advocacy for spinal cord research and awareness for individuals with disabilities, we were eager to explore Rick's passion for the outdoors and his commitment to conservation.Inspired by the dream of creating an accessible and inclusive world and finding a cure for spinal cord injury, Rick Hansen set out on a journey that would make history – the Man In Motion World Tour (MIMWT).From March 21, 1985 to May 22, 1987, Rick and his team wheeled over 40,000 km through 34 countries raising awareness about the potential of people with disabilities, creating accessible and inclusive communities, and finding a cure.Despite all the accomplishments Rick has achieved through the Rick Hansen Foundation, he has also found time to give back in the conservation realm. Cami’s 10-year-old sister Stormy kept the tradition going when she harvested her first Dall sheep. You are going to enjoy this visit with Cami and Russell. Check out Cami's hunts at: https://youtu.be/ZIufi0D4J94

Listener Questions Revealed! Elevating the Conversation about Project Management, with a twist. In this episode cohosts Mike Hannan and Kendall Lott take on some Listener Feedback. A running theme in the show is the actual and delineation of project manager, product manager, and program manager–so we jump on that! Of course, our main theme of its all about value, adding value and understanding projects as investments is once again threaded through the answers. But new things lurk–how do you agile on a fixed-price contract? What's the danger and opportunity in cross-functional teams and accountability when managing scrum teams in a matrix world? How can AI be used (or useful) to help project managers understand architecture, dependencies, and level of effort in order to generate a critical path. Listeners got questions; we got answers–listen in for them and send us your questions!
Episode 135: Exploring Repressed Trauma Repressed trauma refers to traumatic experiences that an individual has experienced but has consciously or unconsciously suppressed or repressed the memory of it. This can happen as a coping mechanism, as the memory of the traumatic experience may be too overwhelming or painful for the individual to process. Repressed trauma can have a profound effect on a person's mental health and well-being, as the memories and emotions associated with the trauma may resurface later in life and impact the individual's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

In this episode, VSC's Violence Prevention Educator, Hannah Jenarine, speaks with Survivor, Ralph Reinert, and VSC's Victim Advocate, Nicola Prichard. They delve deep into the topic of repressed trauma share information to understand the mechanisms behind repressed memories and the effects they can have on mental health. We also hear about Ralph's experience with repressed trauma and learn about his journey towards healing and recovery.

Dr. Sabrina Robins on African Heritage Inc. & Other Opportunities for MBEs In this episode, David Ponraj talks with Dr. Sabrina Robins, COO of AbaCor (an Abaxent Co.) and Member Board of Directors of African Heritage Inc. Dr. Robins speaks on the connection of underrepresented business owners and workers to more opportunities. Dr. Robins focuses on a population of society that is marginalized and overlooked in different ways, and she works with companies that have a need for a talented workforce. This helps to increase an employee’s sense of belonging and inclusion and addresses negative turnover.Dr. Robins is on the board of African Heritage Inc., with a mission to advance the wellbeing of African Americans in NE Wisconsin. Through African Heritage Inc., Dr. Robins has been part of the digital literacy program funded by local workforce development boards. The lack of significant digital literacy skills results in an increased employee turnover rate. Dr. Robins desires to replicate this program, to address the employee turnover concern, based on its successes. From several studies, it has been found that Black and Hispanic individuals were hit the hardest as far as job opportunities, while being faced with a lower earning potential. Dr. Robins is determined to empower these minority workers, to allow them to gain more skillsets and enhance their employability.Throughout the discussion, Dr. Robins emphasizes her need to keep a strong sense of character and grit. This includes having compassion and being the voice of reason and speaking up for those who are underrepresented and underserved.Community development and economic development are strongly intertwined, Dr. Robins highlights this in her everyday life while developing her relationships with her local community. She actively serves on committees and boards, and loves being involved in conversations on corporate responsibility and sustainability. She believes in the power to navigate in multiple networks in order to support, share and build the region. In her role, there is a responsibility to contribute to the community, and she carries this into everything she does.Dr. Sabrina Robins loves to partner with those who share the same mission and values as she, especially those who share the readiness to help others. Ep. 111: Ray Jarrett on race relations through faith and doing One Good Thing Periodically on this podcast since February, we've been introducing you folks who have turned doing "one good thing" into life-changing experiences and moments for people in the Kansas City community (and beyond). The series is part of the new book, titled "One Good Thing," that was co-authored by CYITML Founder/Board President Dayton Moore, CYITML Executive Director and host of the C-10 Podcast Matt Fulks, and this week's guest, Ray Jarrett, the Executive Director of Unite KC. (You can learn more about the book at OneGoodThingBook.com or through one of the links in the show's notes.)So far in this occasional series, you’ve heard from Jeremiah Enna of The Culture House, Will Gurley, founder of the You Matter Festival, and Rex and Jennifer Hudler from Team Up For Down Syndrome. As mentioned, Ray is the ED of Unite KC, a relatively new movement in Kansas City that wants to bring racial healing in the Kansas City community through faith and our churches. They’re doing so with a diverse group of folks from every sector across the board — “domain leaders” — with the idea that we can bring about racial harmony and justice to this community. Jarrett, who’s also the CEO of Impact Leadership Resources, has a proven track record of coaching leaders and helping them to understand and correctly interpret the vision for their business and translate it into actionable items and a tangible direction. Ray consistently delivers results by establishing a strategic direction that facilitates company growth and profitability. We hope you enjoy it. LINKS:To order the new book, "One Good Thing," from Amazon, go here.To get a copy of "One Good Thing" signed by Dayton Moore, click here. For more about Unite KC, click here.To listen to Episode 38, Ray's previous time on the C-10 Podcast in January 2021, click here.Register here for the 2nd Annual C You At Topgolf event. For more information about the C-10 Mentoring & Leadership program for high school students, visit our website. To make a financial gift to give students life-changing one-on-one mentoring, visit our secure donation page. For all episodes of the C-10 podcast and ways you can listen, click here.If you’d like to make a comment, have a suggestion for a future guest, or your company would like to help underwrite this podcast, please visit our contact page.
International Grantmaking We are excited to be joined on this episode by a former colleague and guest from NGOsource, Shyaam Subramanian. NGOsource is helping to streamline the international grantmaking process and ease both restrictions and reporting requirements for international grant awards by making equivalency determinations. NGOs (or international nonprofits) that receive grants through this process are better able to build collective power and address issues faced in their communities.   Not only are we excited about this topic, but we’re excited to have Shyaam back on this show. You all might remember him from earlier pod episodes… recorded back when Shayaam was Senior Counsel for AFJ’s Bolder Advocacy program.  Shyaam and his colleagues work with US donors and NGOs to determine if an international nonprofit is organized and operated like a U.S. public charity. This process is called an equivalency determination or ED. NGOs that receive an ED can receive general support from U.S. private foundations and donor-advised funds, and potentially use the funds for more types of advocacy activities, including lobbying or legislative campaigns.    Attorneys for this episode Natalie Ossenfort Leslie Barnes    Guest Shyaam Subramanian, Legal Counsel at NGOsource     Shownotes Key concepts in Grantmaking  What is an Equivalency Determination (ED)?  What options does a funder have if an NGO does not receive an ED?  A brief overview of ED requirements  NGOsource’s repository model and collaboration with Council on Foundations  Impact stories  Resources NGOsource – all about equivalency determinations, newsletters, and more  Can A Private Foundation Make a Grant to  Non-Public Charity  International Advocacy & Lobbying Podcast  Responding to the Ukraine Crisis: What Nonprofits and Foundations Need to Know

[Special Episode] She Leads in Africa: Amplifying the Voices of Girls and Young Women How can we ensure that the voices of girls and young women, particularly those from socially excluded and exploited groups, are heard and included in decision-making processes?
In Africa and around the world, girls and young women from socially excluded and exploited groups face numerous challenges when it comes to participating in decision-making processes.   In this episode, we're focusing on the progress being made in Kenya by our member organization, Kenya Alliance ACR, as well as members of parliament and survivors.
Join us as we explore the importance of centering the voices of girls and young women in decision-making processes and work together to create a better, more equitable future for all.

ABOUT SHE LEADS
She Leads is a joint programme of Plan International Netherlands, Defence for Children – ECPAT the Netherlands (DCI-ECPAT), African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), and Terre des Hommes the Netherlands (TdH). Equal Measures 2030 is a technical partner.
The She Leads consortium brings together child rights organisations, feminist/women’s rights organisations, and GYW-led groups and aims to increase the sustained influence of girls and young women (GYW) on decision-making and the transformation of gender norms in formal and informal institutions
The geographic focus of the programme is East Africa (Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya), West Africa (Ghana, Mali, Sierra Leone, Liberia) and the Middle East (Lebanon, Jordan). In addition to programming in these countries, a considerable part of the programming will be done at regional level, targeting regional institutions and other stakeholders operating at regional level.
