Divorce Devil Podcast 084: The illusive post-divorce happy - what it is? Just when I thought we couldn’t do a podcast with more laughter than the Divorce and Laughter Podcast 074, we did it with this one.  With a new mixer with some pretty awesome effects, it definitely gets a test.  Discussing your post-divorce happy was interesting.  Subjects of why do you need it?, where to find it?, fake it to make it, being your genuine self, being happy with your new self, other people can’t make you happy, being on time, Funky Cold Medina, Fig Newtons are sexy, and what the hell is wrong with the girl on the podcast are knocked out of the park during this podcast.  We both decided that you need your happy in order to laugh again.  And laughter is important with your post-divorce recovery healing.  We are definitely not judging anyone.  No matter how you came to being divorced - finding your happy is worth the effort!  Not your happiness but your happy!  Enjoy

Keeping Kids as the Focus: Successful Co-Parenting with Sarah Armstrong “We owe it to them to ensure they’re not collateral damage due to this divorce.”Meet Sarah ArmstrongSarah works at Google but decided as a side gig to write her book “The Mom’s Guide to a Good Divorce: What to Think Through When Children Are Involved” largely because it gave her the opportunity to share what she’d learned during her own divorce with others. And that’s not to say her divorce was a cakewalk. It was hard. It provided challenges for her, her ex, and their daughter. But through it all, they maintained the belief that they had to do what was best for their daughter. Hence, the good divorce.Seth and Pete talk to Sarah about the decision to make the divorce a good one and how it shaped everything from that point forward. They talk about what it means to ‘do what’s best for the children.’ They discuss logistics, scheduling conflicts, and soccer games. They also talk about the battles over things like first right of refusal. It’s also important to think beyond the years your kids will be under your roofs. What about when they’re older? Are you working to build that relationship beyond 18? How should you act when they’re young? Should you consider counseling for your child? It’s a wide ranging conversation that digs into a lot of topics that can help you as you work through your own divorce.About SarahSarah Armstrong, good divorce proponent and author of The Mom’s Guide to a Good Divorce, is vice president, global marketing operations, at Google and proud mom of Grace, who will be a sophomore in college in the fall of 2022. Reliving vs Reflecting on Your Past in Your Divorce Recovery After a divorce, we are constantly living on the hamster wheel of reliving specific moments of the marriage, and that can be emotionally exhausting. But, it’s definitely possible to improve our mindset when remembering our past through the process of reflection. I’ll be sharing the difference between relieving and reflecting and the benefits of reflecting in your journey to healing. Tune in to this episode on Reliving vs Reflecting on Your Past in Your Divorce Recovery. Key points covered in this episode:   ✔️Reliving vs Reflecting. Reliving means allowing the anger and betrayal to come back and hurt us. Reflecting means processing what happened, taking the lessons, and appreciating how far you’ve come. If you’re able to tell them apart and choose the latter, that means you’re in a better place in your healing. ✔️Reflection allows you to celebrate. We don’t give ourselves much time to notice our small wins and distance from our past selves because of constant comparison. Despite what you’ve been through, take pride in where you are today ✔️Reflection shifts your perspective. Directing your energy toward a positive viewpoint is more productive than forcing one that doesn’t fit. Always remember that divorce happens FOR us. You have overcome so much!  ✔️Reflection lets you reassess your present and future. Remember when you used to silence yourself? Now, you can live your life on your own terms. You can be as authentic as ever. There’s so much going on for you now that you’ve released yourself from the shackles of that person. ______________________________________________________________ Connect with Wendy Sterling: Website: https://wendysterling.net/ Instagram: @divorcerehabwithwendy Twitter: @thedivorcerehab Facebook: @wendytsterling  Need an opportunity to share your pain points and receive judgment-free support? The Brown Girl’s (or Guy’s) Guide to Divorce: What to Do When Your Culture Collides with Your Divorce with Author and Coach, Cindy Gunraj on Divorce & Beyond #247 On this week's episode, Host, Susan Guthrie and Special Guest, Cindy Gunraj discuss the layered and nuanced topic of cultural norms as they relate to divorce and how your family's expectations and beliefs can make a difficult experience even harder.
Cindy Gunraj is a brown woman who has tackled the difficult experience of divorce within a family construct and culture that prizes marriage and family above the individual.  Her experience brought her into direct conflict with her parents and extended family in a way that made her divorce feel like a failure not only on a personal level, but on a societal one as well.  The bright side is that Cindy persevered, worked to understand and appreciate the love while also challenging those cultural norms in a way that ultimately resulted in her receiving her family's support for her divorce and her parents' blessing.  Cindy shares her experience and her insights to help others who are facing a divorce that collides with their family, culture, religion and more in her book, Winning Your Parents' Approval for Divorce: 7 Practices to Leave Your Marriage with Their Blessing.
Some topics that Cindy and Susan discuss:
How Cindy's parents and extended family reacted to her announcement that she was getting a divorce
The ways in which a brown woman's or man's self-image are tied to their cultural norms and challenged when those norms and broken
Why boundary setting is a necessary part of seeking family approval and support in divorce
Why "priming" is an essential tool for dealing with family get-togethers and events
How self-care is at the core of finding a way to merge your own happiness with your family's expectations

This episode is the essential starter guide for merging your family, culture and your need for personal happiness and growth - be sure to listen!

High Conflict Divorce: Parental Alienation Parental Alienation is a persistent, consistent rejection of a parent caused by the actions of the other parent. It is a form of domestic violence and child abuse as the child has been manipulated to reject one parent.  The psychological impact this has on the child is severe. The child develops a psychological split.  The impact on the alienated parent is devastating as their child sees him or her as all bad and totally rejected.   Dr. Jennifer Harman explains the difference between alienation and estrangement, how alienation takes place, the often generational pattern that has taken place, and the psychological impact on both the child and the alienated parent.  Jennifer guides us in the strategies the alienated parent can engage in to help minimize the alienation as well as the support that is available to assist you.  We also discuss experts you can enlist to support during the legal process as you advocate for shared parenting while navigate divorce.   Request a Free Rapid Relief Call at  www.rapidreliefcall.com For more information on Journey Beyond Divorce visit:  www.jbddivorcesupport.com   Contact Jennifer Harman here: http://jenniferjillharman.com https://www.simplyparent.org Jennifer’s TedX on Parental Alienation www.pa-vi.org   Other resources: www.Pasg.info Documentary: Erasing Family

What a Lawyer Has to Say About Representing Yourself During Divorce | S2, Ep. 50 "Do I need a lawyer?" is a common question for many people when faced with the reality that they're getting divorced. There are common perceptions that you'll save a ton of money and a judge may even feel bad for you because you are the underdog, but if you don't get a lawyer, then you have to be prepared and understand the letter of the law. The harsh reality is that not having a lawyer may hurt you, especially if you have to go to court. This episode exposes the real truth on whether or not you should really do it alone. Our REAL PRODUCER Meet David Vox Mullen! He's a comedian, actor, musician, producer, writer, and he is the official producer of the Divorce Diaries TV series.
About a year from the original proof of concept/pilot being shot, lots of flakey people and potential 'producers', some heart to heart with the universe, I found the right fit for a producer for Divorce Diaries.
Up until this point I've been producing the show similar to my role as a parent...alone. I have EP's but that is a bit different than a producer, Vox has come on board to produce the show and make Season 1 come to fruition. I couldn't be more excited is an understatement.
I'm excited for you to listen to this episode and hear how David connects to the world of Divorce, comedy, Divorce Diaries, and how he puts some of my exes into a really funny spot during our improv section of the show.

Healthy Romantic Relationships: Fierce Love Demands Fierce Conversations Welcome back as we continue our conversation around Healthy Romantic Relationships, I am thrilled to be speaking with Susan Scott author of “Fierce Love”, about the essential role of conversations. I was first exposed to Susan’s work about a decade ago, when beginning my divorce coaching career and came upon her book Fierce Conversations which over the years has helped me help my clients communicate more effectively.      In Fierce Love, Susan asserts that “the conversation IS the relationship!”  What we talk about and how we talk about it determine whether our relationships will thrive, flatline, or fail.    Susan is the best selling author of Fierce Conversations: Achieving Success at Work and in Life /  One Conversation at a Time / Fierce Leadership: An Alternative to the Worst “Best” Practices of Business Today / and Fierce Love, Creating a Love That Lasts - One Conversation at a Time..   Susan is a popular and sought-after Fortune 100 speaker who has been challenging people to say the things that are hard to say for over two decades.   susanscott.io     Request a Free Jump Start Call at https://www.jbddivorcesupport.com/jumpstart   For more information on Journey Beyond Divorce visit:  www.jbddivorcesupport.com
How to Spot the Red Flags of Financial Abuse in Divorce with Top Forensic Accountant, Tracy Coenen on Divorce & Beyond #246 On this week's episode, Host, Susan Guthrie and Special Guest, Tracy Coenen, CPA, CFF, MAFF, one of the leading forensic accountants in the country, review the essential red flags you need to look for if you suspect financial abuse or infidelity in your divorce!
According to the National Endowment for Financial Education, nearly one-third of U.S. couples filing for divorce engage in financial infidelity. Financial fraud in divorce commonly involves one spouse hiding or misrepresenting assets to tweak the divorce settlement in his or her favor.  This is the world that this week's guest, Tracy Coenen lives in.  Tracy is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CFF (Certified ForensicL and a MAFF (Master Analyst in Financial Forensics) and her entire career is based on uncovering fraud and financial deception in both divorce and business matters.
Although financial abuse is common, it can be very difficult to prove, especially when you don't know what to look for.  In this episode, Tracy shares her top RED FLAGS to look for to see if you can spot financial abuse in your relationship.
Tracy also has created the first ever financial program available to the public that will help people to analyze the martital finances to uncover the clues and evidence of financial abuse in a cost-effective manner.  Not everyone can afford the tens of thousands of dollars that it may cost to hire a forensic accountant like Tracy, so her Divorce Money Guide is the gamechanger you have been looking for!

Divorce Devil Podcast 083: Our top 5 positive events and/or lessons that we have experienced after our divorce. As usual, we don’t stick to the actual number in the title.  We just get so carried away.  We decided to infuse a little positivity into the podcast today.  These are the 5 positive events/lessons we have experienced in our post-divorce life.  You can experience these too.  Topics of no f^cks crown, going to the movies by yourself, the deafening silence, narcissism, 10-pack of Twinkies,  HR PufnStuf, fake it to you make it, the red wire, sexual healing, and it takes two all are covered in this episode.  As you can see, divorce can be a positive event in your life when you look at it differently.  Enjoy.
Divorce Devil Podcast 084: Your post-divorce happy - what it is? Enjoy
