Elena Rybakina 1st time Wimbledon Champion Deep Dive + Wimbledon Tournament Revisited This episode we are doing a deep dive on the new singles womens grand slam champ Elena Rybakina! I was personally really surprised and taken by her super solid play in the finals and how she was able to mentally stay strong and come back from a 1 set down position to beat the favorite no#2 ranked player in the world Ons Jaber.
Behind her powerful groundstrokes and even more powerful serve, Rybakina became the 57th different Slam winner in the Open Era, but the first representing Kazakhstan.
Rybakina’s previous Wimbledon best performance was reaching last year’s fourth round. Her previous Grand Slam best was a quarterfinals appearance at the 2021 French Open.

Tennis Players Who Are Hard on Themselves How do you stop being hard on yourself when you're committing errors inside the court? In this week's tennis psychology podcast, mental game of tennis expert, Dr. Patrick Cohn answers a question from Barry. Here's what Barry had to say about his game: "How can I stop being so hard on myself and getting so frustrated when I miss shots? I’m a 3.5 player and love the game. When others miss shots or hit unforced errors I’m super encouraging and positive, but when I do it it’s like I am so hard on myself, which effects my performance."   Listen to the podcast to hear what Dr. Cohn has to say about staying calm and keeping your focus on the game and not letting the frustration take control. Was week one of Wimbledon real life or a blockbuster movie? In this episode I recap the first week at Wimbledon. A TON happened from unexpected early exits to one of the most dramatic matches tennis has ever seen. Americans had a great showing and Novak and Rafa are rolling (shocker). Venus and Serena Williams made an appearance and eight time Wimbledon Champion R*&$^ F^$%#*% (listen and see) showed up for the 100th anniversary. Jon Isner broke a record. So much happened, and I break it all down.
Djokovic Wins 4th Straight Wimbledon Novak Djokovic won Wimbledon, again. In this episode I recap the second week of Wimbledon and the wild path to the finals for both Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios. An incredible tournament for Kyrgios and the best finish of his career. Also, a tough, unexpected exit for Nadal. A lot to break down and I do it all here.
Wimbledon 2022 Debrief After a brief COVID interruption, the boys return to dissect the ascent of Saint Nick and the emergence of a new unlikely podcast mascot, Elena Rebackhander.
Wimbledon Catch-Up: Finals - Rybakina rules Centre as Djokovic reaches 'seventh heaven' alongside Sampras In the latest episode of Tennis Weekly, Joel and Kim round up the Wimbledon Finals action, which saw Elena Rybakina clinch her maiden Slam Title and Novak Djokovic claim a 4th consecutive Championship on the lawns of SW19.With Rybakina sealing a comeback victory over Ons Jabeur, she has made history for Kazakhstan, becoming the first player representing the nation to win a Grand Slam. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic put to bed any hopes of Nick Kyrgios winning his first Slam by putting together a solid 4 set victory against the young pretender.Joel and Kim also discuss the Finals action from the Doubles, with Aussie pair Ebden and Purcell coming back from the brink several times to win the title in epic fashion, and Czech Champions Krejickova and Siniakova cruising to victory to capture their 2nd Wimbledon title. They also reflect on Alfie Hewett’s close encounter in the Wheelchair Singles Final, which saw him serve for the title four times but ultimately come out second best. The winner of Collect A Set is also announced!______________LOCAL TENNIS LEAGUESOur Wimbledon coverage this year is sponsored by Local Tennis Leagues, the home of friendly, competitive tennis in the U.K.With over 10,000 players already signed up, it’s never been easier to find someone locally with a similar ability to have a hit with plus get access to great benefits including access to the Wimbledon Ballot...Find your Local Tennis League hereAnd don't forget to use 'WEEKLY 50' at the checkout for 50% off your £18 entry fee.______________DOWNLOADTENNIS.COMTo stay up to date on all tennis around the world including ATP, WTA and Challenger tours, download TNNS Live Scores.Download on Apple PodcastsDownload on Google PlayFollow  TNNS Live Scores on TwitterAnd check out the TNNS Lives Scores website at www.downloadtennis.com______________SOCIAL MEDIAShare your fan thoughts on the week with the #passingshotpod on social media.Twitter: @tennisweeklypodInstagram: @tennisweeklypodWebsite: tennisweekly.co.ukWritten, presented and produced by Joel Girling and Kim MackenzieCrowdfunded by our listeners.Recorded on 10th July 2022.
Episode 101: In a Wimby Tizzy We’re wrapping up Wimbledon in classy fashion with this episode and an awesome event thrown by Wimbledon, the Hill in NY, featuring live viewing of the finals at an NYC replication of Henman Hill. We dive right into the conversation that needs to be had, the Kyrgios allegations. We discuss victim erasure in the media and different conversations (or lack thereof) that are being had regarding Chiara Passari, Nick’s ex-girlfriend, taking him to Canberra court. It’s disappointing how little the issue has been discussed in tennis media due to Nick’s recent success in making the men's final at Wimbledon. After wrapping up that necessary discussion, we get into the tennis. The women's final brought plenty of entertainment with Ons’ big grand slam breakout performance and Elena’s cool as a cucumber celebration (?) after the biggest win of her young career; an awesome women’s tournament and classy final duo. When we move to the mens’ final, we talk about the ghost finalist that could have been Berrettini and the birth of a cringe worthy bromance. Instead, we have Novak Djokovic eating grass and effectively dapping up Nick Kyrgios. So that’s that for Wimbledon 2022.

Wimbledon Day 8 - Calm Kyrgios, Halep comes home, Nadal countdown On what used to be Magic Monday, everything felt a lot calmer and more manageable at Wimbledon today, meaning we had time to do our favourite thing and record on site.
