The Story of the Ossett Exorcist Murder Told Through Podcasts In the small town of Ossett, England a gruesome murder occurred after an attempted exorcism of Michael Taylor in 1974. Sheryl "Mac" McCollum | Cold Case Investigative Research Institute This episode might be best enjoyed on a front porch with some sweet tea. I don’t live in the south, but my guest’s stories made me feel I was there; creaky doors closing to keep the mosquitos out, and humid air thick with mystery and secrets. I was transported as today’s guest told me stories of her life and career.I met Sheryl McCollum at CrimeCon and knew she must come on the show and share about her work. She is currently a crime scene analyst, but got her start volunteering at a rape crisis center at Grady Hospital. But her love of mysteries and solving cold cases goes way back to childhood when her mama introduced her to criminal couple, Bonnie and Clyde.Sheryl is an Emmy Award winning CSI from CBS46’s CSI Atlanta, Director of the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute (CCIRI), a writer for CrimeOnLine, Forensic and Crime Scene Expert for Crime Stories with Nancy Grace, and a CSI for a metro Atlanta Police Department.Did you enjoy this episode of DIE-ALOGUE? REPLAY: Justin Evans | Generation Why I am just about recovered from Covid, but need another week to get the new series in tact. To that end, please enjoy a REPLAY with my friend and one of the OG true crime podcasters, Justin Evans. Justin even does the show's intro so enjoy his smooth voice until I am back with an all new episode next week. Thank you, Justin for lending your voice and for the fun walk down memory lane in this February 2020 interview!Original show notes Feb 2020:Before there was SERIAL, there was Generation Why. Justin Evans is one half of Generation WHY - the actual OG of true crime podcasts. He's also the one of the kindest guys in podcasting if you ask me. What a thrill to speak with him, hear about the early days of true crime podcasting, how he keeps it fresh with Aaron after 8 years, and where he finds himself now. He's also the host of The Peripheral podcast which I am particularly loving as it brings these PERIPHERAL topics around true crime, straight to the top...it's very raw and vulnerable. I like it. Justin and I recorded in NYC and my only regret is that we didn't have more time. Thank you, Justin, killing the small talk, and I hope to continue the DIE-ALOGUE! __________________________________________________________________________________________________Did you enjoy this episode of DIE-ALOGUE? Tamar Sarai Davis | Missing, Murdered + The Media What if “the media” isn’t the problem? What if it’s us? Today’s guest believes the imbalance of media coverage for black women begins with our own broken values. This episode is part 3 of the series, MISSING, MURDERED + THE MEDIA. I couldn’t cover this subject without a journalist's perspective. Today, I'm speaking with Tamar Sarai Davis, features reporter at PRISM, a non-profit media company. Tamar wrote about Lauren Smith Fields’ case and focused specifically on the ways Black TikTok and Twitter elevated Lauren’s story to the public’s consciousness. You can read her article here. https://prismreports.org/2022/02/11/justice-for-lauren-smith-fields-and-the-black-tiktokers-who-made-sure-we-knew-her-name/Your can follow Tamar on twitter and below are the articles she references in the interview. https://www.motherjones.com/media/2020/06/true-crime-podcasts-white-women/https://prismreports.org/2021/10/01/alive-but-still-not-free/https://prismreports.org/2020/07/07/scripted-cop-dramas-paint-a-dangerously-false-picture/Join me next week as continue this conversation with journalist Jonquilyn Hill, host of the podcast, Through the Cracks. The podcast promo you heard today is SINISTERHOOD. Dr. Danielle Slakoff | Missing, Murdered and The Media New Series: MISSING, MURDERED + THE MEDIA.As we explore which came first; the media's projection of who we value as a victim, or our own societal values that media reflects back to us, we continue the conversation around the disparity of coverage for women and girls of color.Today's guest has extensive first hand knowledge of this reality. Dr. Danielle Slakoff's dissertation was the media's portrayal of women and girls as victims of crime, with a particular focus on how race and ethnicity may impact these portrayals. Dr. Slakoff is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Sacramento State, and is frequently called upon by the media to speak about missing white woman syndrome and related topics. Amara Cofer | Black Girl Gone Podcast New Series: MISSING, MURDERED + THE MEDIA.Kicking it off with my first guest, Amara Cofer — host of the podcast, Black Girl Gone. Amara brings a whole new perspective to the conversation, one that actually inspired me to change the title of the series. She speaks a lot about the importance of social media as a tactic in helping to raise awareness for cases that are historically left out of the mainstream media's coverage. With 95k TikTok followers, Amara knows a thing or two about leveraging the power of social media to help a case. She does it all the time on her podcast and TikTok channel.Amara set this series up perfectly and I will be exploring more facets of this complicated subject over the next few weeks.Below is a link to the TikTok played in today's episode. The Business of Cults Part 2 The Business of Cults is a three-part series hosted by Rebekah Sebastian with the DIE-ALOGUE Podcast and Javier Leiva of PRETEND podcast. Over the next three episodes, you will hear from; cult experts Rick Alan Ross and Dr. Janja Lalich, author and linguist, Amanda Montell, ABC Correspondent, Rebecca Jarvis, Cult Survivors, Frank Lyford, and Sarah Edmondson.Cults are businesses too. Like any company, cults recruit, have middle management, and some even have succession plans. Many of these religious sects are tax-exempt. Like Scientology, even some fringe religions are recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. Not all cults are religious. At first glance, some cults don't seem culty at all. For example, take a closer look at businesses such as multi-level marketing companies. These companies are masquerading as a business, but in reality, they're run by narcissistic ego-maniacs. The Cult Startup Like businesses, cults go through different phases. First, there's a startup phase where an entrepreneurial cult leader leads a movement and brings new innovative and revolutionary ideas. Take, for example, , leader of the People's Temple. In the beginning, he integrated his congregation during the Civil Rights Movement. After that, he was heavily involved in politics and social activism. The allure was undeniable. But in the end, Jones ordered 909 commune members to end their lives. Part one focuses on The C Suite: Chief Cult Executives. Part two features an interview with former NXIVM member Sarah Edmondson. And Part three explores the question, can a cult survive without its leader?Listen to part one of the Business of Cults on either the PRETEND or DIE-ALOGUE Podcast feeds.Join us as we explore the evolution of cults; from start up to succession plan, and everything in between, we want to know what practices cults take from businesses — and perhaps even scarier, what tactics businesses borrow from cults. Javier and I also take it out of the studio and into the field for some on the ground research in businesses that have active ties to known cults.Listen along and find out more about The Business of Cults.Part 3 drops on Feb. 23If you enjoy this episode and series, please leave a five star rating and review on Apple + Spotify!APPLE: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/die-alogue-a-true-crime-conversation/id1470890320SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/show/64IHCryN2jFaswrVIzMV8wSpeaking of cults, follow us:Rebekah Sebastian DIE-ALOGUE PODCAST @diealoguepod | https://www.rebekahsebastian.com/Javier Leiva PRETEND PODCAST @pretendpod | https://pretendradio.org/Can’t wait for the next episode? Dr. Scott + Dr. Shiloh | Forensic Psychologists: We Need to Talk About Jerry from Cheer Content warning: today’s episode covers sensitive topics including pedophilia and sexual abuse, please take care while listening. If you need support for sexual abuse, please visit: https://www.rainn.org/about-national-sexual-assault-telephone-hotlineI watched Cheer Season 2 and decided: We need to talk about Jerry. Our beloved athlete known for his inspiring “mat talks” has had a fall from grace after being sued for child sexual abuse and subsequently charged with attempting to receive child pornography, using the internet to "persuade, induce, and entice" a minor, and traveling from Texas to Florida "for the purpose of engaging in illicit sexual conduct" with a minor, using, persuading, inducing, and enticing a minor "to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct."I invited past guests (and current friends) Dr. Shiloh and Dr. Scott, of the LA Not So Confidential Podcast. Learn more about them and their show here:https://www.la-not-so-confidential.com/In addition to their current roles as forensic psychologists, the doctors bring past experience working with sex offenders to help us process the complicated feelings around Jerry’s arrest and alleged crimes. This is a tough conversation and I am grateful to Dr. Shiloh and Dr. Scott for their professional insight and ability to explore the nuance in this complex situation. For a little levity, stick around to the very end of the episode to hear my favorite scene from CHEER Season 2. It’s the end of Episode 4 called “Hell Week.” Stunning cinematography but since you can’t see that, you can hear and enjoy the great music and audio clips. You heard a trailer for my next series called THE BUSINESS OF CULTS in collaboration with Javier Levia of Pretend Podcast. https://pretendradio.org/SUPPORT:Do you love DIE-ALOGUE? Jake Halpern | Mob Land Let's go back to 1970's Chicago when the mob ruled the courts. What could go wrong? I had an incredible conversation with the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Jake Halpern. Jake is the host of the new investigative podcast, Mob Land, which just dropped this week! The story centers around Bob Cooley - a mafia "fixer" turned FBI cooperator. Jake and I get into whether or not Bob can be trusted, what justice is or isn't — especially when corruption exists — and I think I stun Jake into silence with a Real Housewives analogy. Jake is an excellent storyteller making this a highly enjoyable conversation. Listen, enjoy, then go check out Mob Land! Laurie Gilbertson | Legal Entrepreneurs for Justice! Ethical, transparent and accessible. Is that what comes to mind when you think of private law practice? Me either. But the work my guest today is doing, is trying to change all that.Laurie Gilbert left her work as a Prosecutor in New York City, where she tried everything from fraud to murder cases. In fact her last case was highly unique in that it took three times to get the defendant an attempted murder conviction despite the plethora of evidence and solid witnesses. This was the trial of Christopher Prince in Queens, New York. She now sits on the board of Legal Entrepreneurs for Justice - a legal incubator, designed to operate in a totally new way. I loved learning about this and was thrilled when Laurie shared that these are cropping up across the Unites States, with about 70- 80 in existence. You can check and see if your state has a "legal incubator" here:https://www.americanbar.org/groups/delivery_legal_services/initiatives_awards/program_main/Listen as Laurie shares the many ways these new models of practicing law are helping level the playing field. Sam Walker | American Vigilante Podcast Content warning: Today's episode deals with kidnapping and abuse of minors and has some harsh language in one part. Please listen with care.Today's big question: Is it ever ok to do the wrong thing, for the right reason? We're talking about vigilantes on the show today. My guest, Sam Walker, is a multi-award winning journalist, broadcaster and podcaster. Her show, American Vigilante, is about a man named KC. KC is the American Vigilante. A hugely complex, intelligent, contradictory man who could save your life but end it too. He leads a group of violent men standing on the blurred line between right and wrong, between revenge and redemption. A man you want on your side when it all falls apart. American Vigilante is true crime, but so much more. It’s saving abducted children, it’s stepping beyond the law. It’s rescue missions, assassination attempts and last-gasp protection. It’s all the stuff you hope never comes to you, until it does. We delve into the ethics around vigilantism, the American spirit that seems to support this rogue work, and we find ourselves going around and around the question landing somewhere in that murky gray area, which should really be familiar by now.Listen to American Vigilante wherever you get your podcasts! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/american-vigilante/id1583938816Today's show in sponsored in part by Pair Networks:www.pair.com/freePromo code is QUICKSTARTDo you love DIE-ALOGUE? Roo Powell | Undercover Underage CONTENT WARNING: This episode deals with topics of sexual abuse against minors. As you prepare to gather with loved ones this holiday, think about how you might have some difficult, but very important conversations., particularly with the kids and teens in your life about online safety. Perhaps you're like me and you go back and forth between wanting to educate myself on this topic and, also wanting to stick my fingers in my ears and pretend it doesn't effect me or my family because the subject is so dark and so scary.Luckily for all of us, today's guest, Roo Powell, is an expert in this area. Roo is a writer, an advocate, founder of a non-profit, SOSA (safe from sex abuse online) and the subject of the new limited series on Discovery Plus called "Undercover Underage."We discuss how Roo transforms herself from a 38 year old mother of three to a teenage girl online, in hopes of obtaining useful information from online sex predators. She works closely with law enforcement and has a tight protocol to ensure that her team's work is useful should it be needed in court. This show is fast paced and features her team who work tirelessly to aid law enforcement in their quest to get these predators offline (and in jail if needed), and her non-profit also consults with tech companies on ways to make their sites safer! Our conversation covers a lot of ground and I think it will leave you feeling more hopeful than not.You will learn so much on this one but you will also enjoy it because Roo is so great.Share this with any guardians and parents you know so we can start having better conversations about inappropriate online behavior , apps to avoid and red flags.Watch Undercover Underage here: https://www.discoveryplus.com/show/undercover-underage-usLearn more about the non -profit SOSA and in this time of giving, consider supporting their work! https://sosatogether.org/Learn more about Roo Powell and follow her on social media:http://roopowell.com/@roo_powPlease rate and review DIE-ALOGUE on apple podcasts if you haven't already?! Justine Van der Leun | BELIEVE HER Podcast Content Warning: Today’s episode deals with sexual abuse and domestic violence. Please take care while listening. If you need help, please reach out to the National Domestic Abuse Hotline: 1-888- 799-SAFE.This is not a whodunnit. This is a complicated look at what happens when a woman who has endured abuse at the hands of her partner, shoots and kills him. Nikki Addimando went from being viewed as a victim to a cold blooded killer when she shot and killed her partner, Chris Grover, in 2017.Today’s conversation explores the many complex issues at the heart of this “upside down” true crime story; believing victims, women in prison, domestic abuse, trauma, and whether it’s bad luck or a flawed system that lands people in prison. Elle Johnson | TV Writer + Author, 'The Officer's Daughter' Elle Johnson knows how to tell a cop story. Her father was a New York City parole officer. Her uncle was an NYPD homicide detective. She’s written and produced for several shows including Homicide Life on the Street, Law & Order, and Bosch. She also wrote a memoir about her cousin Karen’s 1981 murder. Her book, The Officer’s Daughter: A Memoir of Family and Forgiveness, explores that tragedy, her complicated relationship with her father, and the surrounding criminal justice themes like sentencing and parole. She faces a big question about whether or not to speak out for or against the release of her cousin’s murderer and her memoir will compel you to consider what you would do in the same situation.Elle and I discuss her book’s themes, her entry into show business, and what restorative justice could look like. I hope you will check out this book and also follow her on social media as she has a new show and book coming out soon! Here's her book: https://www.amazon.com/Officers-Daughter-Memoir-Family-Forgiveness/dp/0063011328/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1635295735&sr=8-1Could you please rate and review DIE-ALOGUE on apple podcasts if you haven't already?! Elie Honig | Up Against the Mob This episode is one of my favorites to date, and I did not see that coming! I absolutely loved talking to Elie Honig. Elie is currently private counsel at a law firm, but he spent 14 years as federal and NJ state Prosecutor in Organized crime. He is responsible for taking down big names in the Italian mafia of NYC and NJ. His stories are better than the movies ( which I confess, I haven't seen) and he's telling them all in his new podcast, UP AGAINST THE MOB. Listen here: https://open.spotify.com/show/2a5TRZy1PqfjDpbOrvMNgxI love this podcast and I can't help but see parallels between it and DIE-ALOGUE. Listen and learn why. Elie is also a Senior legal analyst at CNN. We bonded over our Jersey roots and love of Italian food. We cover the code of ethics and conduct within the mafia, our cultural obsession with the mob, and I am most proud that I got him to agree (slightly reluctantly), that Mob bosses are akin to cult leaders! This conversation surprised and delighted me - would love to hear what you think! Also, could you please rate and review DIE-ALOGUE on apple podcasts if you haven't already?!https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/die-alogue-a-true-crime-conversation/id1470890320 Liked this episode? Sarah Treleavan | The Followers: Madness of Two Welcome to the perfect storm. Today's interview is with Sarah Treleavan, a writer, who produced and hosted the new podcast about Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell, called The Followers: Madness of Two. You will hear a trailer at the top of the episode! In keeping with the 'Cult Adjacent' series, we discuss how Lori and Chad's beliefs factor into this story. Was Chad a cult leader? Was Lori a follower? Or vice versa? OR are the doomsday beliefs just a distraction for us, and a justification for what this story is really about: sex and money ?Listen to this interview, then check out the whole 'Madness of Two' series if you haven't already. Amanda Montell | CULTISH I had so much fun talking with Amanda Montell, a linguist, who uses that background as the lens through which to explore cults. Between that and her Dad coming of age in the cult, Synanon, she has a lot to say about cults, and the language we all have grown used to which is ... cultish. Lula Rich Directors | Jenner Furst + Julia Willoughby Nason Let's kick off Season 3 with a really interesting conversation around MLM's, shall we?Are MLM's a cult? Why do so many end in disaster? The directors of LuluRich, Jenner Furst and Julia Willoughby Nason, delve into their why's and how they got LulaRow founders, Mark and Deanne, to talk, and also a burgeoning new category of content: TRUE COMEDY.Our conversation transcends leggings and gets into a more meta exploration of the genre, our broken country, and how it makes us long for something we can't attain so we end up hawking products to friends in the hopes of a life changing opportunity.Jenner and Julia founded Cinemart in 2011( partnered with Jay Z, nbd) and are responsible for an incredible slate of projects including: FYRE FRAUD, TIME: The Kalief Browder Story, The Pharmacist, and Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story. DIE-ALOGUE: a state of the union conversation | Rebekah Sebastian If DIE-ALOGUE did state of the union addresses, this episode would be considered one. WELCOME! Today you will hear all about what is ahead for Season 3 of DIE-ALOGUE. I will continue to host and produce the long form interviews you know ( and I hope love,) and I will also be adding to a few elements to the show! Time for a shake up!In addition to two in depth interviews a month, I will be adding one TRIALOGUE courtroom conversation to the main feed once a month. In these sometimes shorter, sometimes not, concentrated conversations, we look deep into a specific trial or case that is playing out currently. Normally, these were reserved for Patrons, but after releasing some this summer and hearing the feedback, I am adding one to the main feed. I will continue to do one PATREON EXCLUSIVE TRIALOGUE episode a month that will not be heard elsewhere. The other fun addition to the show is TRIVIA. That’s right. David Rudolf + Sonya Pfeiffer | Derek Chauvin Sentencing + Defunding the Police SUMMER SERIES!Many of you know that I followed Derek Chauvin's trial very closely, and so his sentencing was of particular interest to me. TRIALOGUE was the perfect place to debrief the sentence which was ruled on Friday, June 25. I am playing that episode for everyone here on the main feed as it is an important conversation, not just about Chauvin's sentence, but about criminal justice reform and the matters of defunding the police/police reform. I brought on two experienced lawyers and fantastic people: David Rudolf ( criminal defense attorney for Michael Peterson) and his wife, Sonya Pfeiffer, former award winning journalist, turned lawyer. The two now focus entirely on wrongful convictions and host a podcast, ABUSE OF POWER, which recently won a webby- YAY!We discuss the sentence, the judge, police reform, then David and Sonya have a moment about BLM, and finally, we get to CHAUVIN'S INSANE STATEMENT. You will hear that audio at the top before the conversation begins. It's a real head scratcher. This is the book Sonya mentions- CASTE by Isabel Wilkerson- a book many have suggested and that I have on the short list! This episode was previously released to Patrons only as part of my bonus companion show, TRIALOGUE: a courtroom conversation - you can learn more about TRIALOGUE and become a patron here: https://www.patreon.com/diealogueLove DIE-ALOGUE? Dr. Scott | On Britney Spears + Convervatorshships First of all, #FREEBRITNEYI was lucky ( subtle Britney reference) enough to grab some time with my friend and podcast colleague, Dr. Scott, of LA Not So Confidential Podcast. As a former dancer and forensic psychologist who works with clients facing conservatorships, he was the perfect guest to break down the ongoing legal saga around Britney Spears' conservatorship. He and his co-host, Dr. Shiloh, did an excellent deep dive episode on their show, which you can find here: https://anchor.fm/lansc/episodes/71--Overprotected-Conservatorships--5150s--the-Britney-Spears-Saga-e104d01I've included the full audio of her recent testimony because Dr. Scott and I discuss what we hear quite a bit. If you want to skip that, our conversation picks up at 24:55, but I think it is more than worth a listen. It breaks my heart and makes my blood boil. Sarah Berman | Author, Don't Call it a Cult We learned A LOT about NXIVM last year. But we barely scratched the surface. My guest today, reporter and author, Sarah Berman, has covered NXIVM extensively for years — first at VICE, and most recently, in her new book, DON'T CALL IT A CULT. This book is THE place to get the whole story of how NXIVM came to be and ALL the players within. Sarah and I get into all the details including the branding, the coercion and trafficking, as well as getting comfortable with the inconceivable.I promise you will learn something ( if not many things) you didn't know about NXIVM before and I think you will appreciate Sarah's thoughtful coverage as much as I do.More on Sarah and her work can be found here: https://sarahberms.com/Check with your local bookseller or get her book here! https://www.amazon.com/Dont-Call-Cult-Shocking-Raniere/dp/B08XN45Y7F/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=don%27t+call+it+a+cult&qid=1621368538&sr=8-1Even more of my conversation with Sarah Berman can be heard on TRIALOGUE: a court room conversation. Dana Goodyear | Lost Hills Podcast + The New Yorker Malibu, California is a practically mythical place. I love the new podcast, LOST HILLS, because of the way host, writer and producer, Dana Goodyear, sets the scene in the wild hills of Malibu - a series of shootings, one murder, a reluctant investigation, and an uncooperative suspect. It makes for a really good podcast.Dana Goodyear is a journalist and writer for The New Yorker. When she began reporting on this story, she soon realized she wanted it to be a podcast, so she FOLLOWED HER CURIOSITY ( my favorite thing) and assembled a team to do just that.I loved this podcast and not just because I listened to it while driving through Malibu. Dana lifts the veil on her process, how she thinks about story, if she believes the prime suspect did it, AND what she is working on next. Jia Wertz | Director CONVICTION documentary Jia Wertz won numerous awards for her debut documentary, CONVICTION, which tells the story of Jeff Deskovic, and the aftermath of his wrongful conviction. Jeff was a guest on DIE-ALOGUE, so it was a special thrill to see his story told in this way. Jia shares what led her to pick up filmmaking, her passion for criminal justice reform, and how Serial Season 1 had a direct connection to her beginning this film.A full length version of this story is coming later this year, as well as an entirely different film that will also be about wrongful convictions. I loved getting to know Jia and I can't wait to see what does next. Well, if you are Andy Hale, you start making documentaries. Andy recognized that another way to effect change ( other than his law practice) is to tell important stories. Retired FBI agent, Jerri Williams, entered the FBI in 1982, one of very few women, and even fewer women of color. Jerri specialized in white collar crime and was later given the role of media spokesperson for the FBI. Charlotte Bismuth | Author, Bad Medicine: Catching New York's Deadliest Pill Pusher Charlotte Bismuth, former ADA at the NYC Special Narcotics office, joins me for a heartfelt conversation about her new book - Bad Medicine: Catching New York's Deadliest Pill Pusher. The book is a investigative true crime story that culminates in a precedent setting trial and conviction, coupled with a vulnerable memoir of Charlotte's own personal struggles, making this book an exquisite combination of both genres. Charlotte is donating a portion of book sales to the FedUp! Coalition, which works to Prevent our children, friends, and loved ones from becoming addicted to opioids.

Tyler Maroney | The Modern Detective Tyler Maroney, Private Investigator and author of the book, MODERN DETECTIVE: How Corporate Intelligence is Reshaping the World. Inside this book, will hear the very up close and personal, insiders stories on what PI's like Tyler and his colleagues do in the world of financial crime, business, and much more. The stereotypes are not factual...mostly. Listen to how Tyler breaks it down for us, and if you fancy yourself a citizen detective, get your magnifying glass out ( or high speed internet ready), because he has a serious call to action for you!
To make an interesting conversation even more fascinating, we touch on Adnan Syed's case ( Tyler's firm QRI was featured in the 2019 HBO doc), Q anon ( let's find him!), and another case and documentary he worked on featuring Philadelphia hip hop artist, Meek Mills. Check that doc out via link below and definitely check out Tyler's book, also linked!

Anthony Redgrave | Trans Doe Task Force Today I am joined by Anthony Redgrave to highlight the work of the Trans Doe Task Force; TDTF was created to research cold cases in which the subject may have been transgender or gender-variant. TDTF also advises and educates the public, media, and law enforcement regarding the needs of and sensitive differences between Trans Doe cases and other Doe cases. The TDTF also reaches out to assist law enforcement departments, medical examiners, and forensic anthropologists with getting their cases submitted for forensic genealogy.
This is an area that I know little about but am totally fascinated by. I am thankful to Anthony for breaking down this important work and how the true crime community can help.

Amber Hunt | Crimes of the Centuries Podcast Welcome our 4th guest to our November series on True Crime Podcast series, AMBER HUNT. As I learned, Amber is so much more than a podcaster, she is an award winning (hello, 2018 Pulitzer Prize for local reporting) reporter, an author, and someone who reminded me about ZINES! Amber’s reporting is thorough, well-respected and you will hear she blazed a path into journalism. She shares about her latest podcast, Crimes of the Centuries, on the Obsessed Network, and how every case she selects has historical significance above and beyond the story itself. Thank you, Amber for killing the small talk!

Small Town Dicks Hosts | Yeardley Smith + Detectives Dan + Dave You might know my next guests podcast, SMALL TOWN DICKS. If you don't, you still might feel like you know of my hosts. What do I mean? Well, Yeardley Smith, one host and producer of Small Town Dicks podcast, is also the iconic voice of Lisa Simpson. She's a legend. What. DELIGHT to speak with her. And her co-hosts and co-producers, Detectives Dan and Dave? They are pretty stellar as well.
Small Town Dicks is a new favorite of mine and you will hear exactly why once you listen to this episode. Yeardley's love of and talent for storytelling shines through the great detective work that Dave and Dan share each week. They are often joined by other police officers who share the cases and stories that have stayed with them throughout their careers.
The four of us ( what a crowd!) talked podcasting, true crime, and how they all approached the national conversation around police reform this year. I got to find out what they are listening to and watching, and the cold cases they can't stop thinking about.

Female Persuasion: Women and Cults with Rebekah Sebastian and Tori Telfer Today's episode is from a LIVE event last October at Caveat in New York City. Co-hosted with the lovely and talented Tori Telfer, we delved into the feminine side of cults, with some cult trivia for good measure!
If you just want to hear my spiel on NXIVM skip to about 3o minutes in and you will hear me breakdown what I know then about the women leadership who helped Keith Raniere run the operation. I know so much more one year later, but my enthusiasm for the subject has not waned since then as you will hear in my voice.
We are officially concluded our series on cults, but there are still a few conversations I might be having in light of recent events regarding Keith Raniere. I will release those as bonus content as they are ready, but next week we start a new series: TRUE CRIME PODCASTERS, and I talked to some GOOD ones!
Make sure you are subscribed so you don't miss an episode!
