Luke Proctor preaches from John 8 on March 21, 2021.

Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future.

JOHN 8:2-6
2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

LEVITICUS 20:10
"If a man commits adultery with another man's wife--with the wife of his neighbor--both the adulterer and the adulteress are to be put to death."

JOHN 8:6
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.

JEREMIAH 17:13
Those who turn away from you will be written in the dust because they have forsaken the LORD...

JOHN 8:7-9
7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground. 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.

JOHN 8:10-11
10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Three Characteristics of ROCK-THROWERS
ROCK-THROWERS hide their junk.

JOHN 8:12
"I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

JOHN 3:19-20
“Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.”

"It is the saints who have a sense of sin...the sense of sin is the measure of a soul's awareness of God."
Father Danielou

Three Characteristics of ROCK-THROWERS
2. ROCK-THROWERS think too highly of themselves.

1 TIMOTHY 1:13-15
13"Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.”

A grace-filled attitude says, "The biggest sinner I know is me."

Three Characteristics of ROCK-THROWERS
3.ROCK-THROWERS aren't much fun.

"I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
Mahatma Gandhi

1 JOHN 1:6-7
6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

ROMANS 8:33-34
33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

ROMANS 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus...
