Welcome to the podcast of Hindi Poetry and Poets! This is the first episode and we are starting with Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan's epic creation - Madhushala (मधुशाला), written in 1935. Madhushala is a part of Bachchan's trilogy that includes Madhubala and Madhukalash. We will not only recite the complete poem - Madhushala but will also talk about the poet's life, interesting stories, inspirations, experiences around poem itself, starting from India of 1920, to Cambridge and what not! This episode is an introduction to Madhushala, followed by the first few verses. Each verse is a four-lines poem, aka चार पंक्ति की चतुष्पदी.

After Madhushala, we will talk about other good poems. This podcast is meant to be a conversation :-) so, do send your feedback. If you want a poem to be covered in this podcast, do let us know - your own poem, or one of your favorites!

You can connect with me on Facebook, Instagram, or Youtube
Thanks for listening :-) stay safe.

Credits: Opening lines were recited by Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan in an album composed by Jaydev and Manna Dey. The album, titled 'Madhushala' had 20 select verses.
