Jack The Ripper wrote the Central News Agency widely known as "The Dear Boss Letter." In it, he claimed that he would "clip the lady's ear off" and that he "wants to get to work right away." Although police initially ignored the letter, believing it to be a hoax, they were in for a rude awakening after the double murder of Elizabeth Stride and Catherine Eddowes — whose ear was cut off.
