A difficult thing to discuss when such a monumental issue requires more than a lifetime of progress to be corrected, is that massive inroads laid to equality are dwarfed in mind, body, and masses by the progress still to be made. As King says, the quest to this point has been one aimed at achieving decency, at merely ending the extreme behavior done unto the black community, but that true equality lay still indeterminately ahead, suggests the burden of King's leadership, that his plan for the next phase of the movement was mistaken for a loss of momentum.
