another 17 Children. And I think the the Alston's of 19 and same as the Williams. They were 19. So we were only a small family. And, um but, um, yeah, I mean, we we were very fortunate, you know, we because we lived in an area and everything was grown, everything was fresh. Um, every day, you know, um, and it wasn't really difficult to to fight, you know, your siblings or elder brothers or whatever for food. Because that is one thing we did eat, Uh, well, and, uh, that was good food. Uh, the shot put was never when I was at school. Anyway, what you would, you know, one of the events. So what do you think? The direction of that particular event when I was, you know, participant in most sports, I was pretty good in most things. In fact, I put talking five different sports at county level, and, uh, one day I I was representing representing the school in middle distance events, and they had a shot competition. We didn't have a shop with it. So, uh, from that day on, you know, because I was taller and stronger, I suppose the most kids. They put me in the shop and I went And, uh, although in those early days I wasn't that good. In fact, I finished second from last in the all England Schools Championships. And, uh, but it was only a year later that I improved, um, somewhat, 20 ft further and became the best young shop put her in the country. So it was by sheer accident, really? And you had 67 international caps. I've got this right. I completed for Great Britain on 67 occasions. But also I completed for for England many times as well. And because obviously, when used to do, you know, kind of England events, they didn't count as full international. So I suppose I was went over 100 international and national captain. My career. If you go back to the 1980 must go Olympics. Now, you finished fifth in that particular final, was it? Do you think something that But there always seems to be the eastern countries. Yeah, well, you know, the Eastern Bloc, they were now in the Russians in these Germans and everything else. They were very technically minded and a very efficient. Um, most of the athletes in this country or our country. A lot of it was pure chance. You know, those were more. Those countries were all more like machines. Um, not a lot was left to chance. They were put into sports schools. They were trained every day. They didn't have to work for a living. Um, you know, it wasn't part time as we we did. You know, you know, a great athletes. It's not so much now because there are full time athletes, and, you know, the rules have changed. But, um, you know, it was formidable task to actually compete against the Russians in these German because that that sort of what I was going to ask you whether if you felt that maybe you now competed levels that you've competed different environment Do you think that there would have been a more even playing field? Do you think that we've improved enough, or do you think that there's still a problem
