well actually cinco de Mayo go, let me go ahead and be my history teacher right now. Um it's Actually when in 1862 when uh mexicans over overpowered the french um in the battle of I think it was possible. Uh so um so basically getting people from all parts of Mexico and bring them in to fight the french defeating them. And it's actually, I think uh if we want to be really specific about it, it's more widely celebrated here um then it is all over Mexico. Yeah, I I heard that it's not even like a mexican holiday and it's not even celebrated in Mexico. Um And the largest think a two mile festival in the world is in California in Los Angeles. So it's not even in Mexico. So like Americans of like 100 bob this their holiday and they don't even celebrate it down there. Yeah. Well you know why we brought it to America right, and why we celebrate it here? No enlighten us. So pretty much it's a it's a way to commemorate mexican culture And so that it was really originally developed in the 1960s by a Latin group who wanted to acknowledge um mexican rights and hispanic rights during the time of the civil rights movement. Right? But it really wasn't, It really wasn't recognized until the 1980s due to the commercialization of alcohol companies and think about it. I think meaning three selected the same thing with the new york Times article I'm guessing. Um and it talks about like actually how much like their importance would be is like very various important beers, corona, very uh and Mondello, you know, which is used a lot here in America. Uh That in the year 2013 it says that here in America we bought for Cinco de Mayo. And for us I'm I'm gonna go ahead and say that it really is a holiday about engaging in alcohol and stuff like that. You know, getting your being lit, do what you gotta do. Uh We got more than $600 million worth of beer. That was more than the Super Bowl and you know, we like to be you know little but we also like to pay attention to what's happening so you can't get too late. And then another holiday that we know is known for alcohol ST Patrick's day more than enough to. So yeah, I've kind of read that uh Cinco de bio now like americans originally tried to make it a celebration of culture but it kind of slowly has developed into a reason for alcohol and like the the corona and uh whatever the other one was you said.
