ultimo dragon's entrance, he slips, everybody's waiting for their WrestleMania moment and ultimo dragon's unfortunately was slipping on the ramp. Did you see it live? And did you think it was a big deal? I mean, obviously it's embarrassing for him, but man to this day fans still point to that slip for ultimo as if it doomed his W. W. Career. I don't know if he did that or not extreme, frankly, human error. You know, you got guys doing their own stunts and doing their own setups and all those things, uh, for their moves and so forth, it's inevitable that's going to happen. It probably happens more often than we even talk about, but because, uh, you know, there was, there was great hope by the, some of the real hardcore fans for, because they followed Ultimate Dragon and Japan and Mexico and so forth, that he was going to be a big deal for us. Another great example, putting a bunch of really good workers into a match that means nothing, No build up, no personal hot issues going into it cold as ice. So I don't know that, uh, that the company did a great service to those dudes in that match because it felt like it was another way of getting more people in the card. So they get a payday. It's a lot of guys to chavo wins. But you've gotta Keogh who we also know as jimmy, wang yang billy Kidman, Funaki, Jamie Noble, nunzio Shannon moore to Jiri ultimo dragon. And I can't believe this Rey Mysterio, don't get me wrong. A lot of talented performers don't mean to single in on Ray. But knowing that Ray is going to be in some world title matches in this era, This feels a little out of place for Ray. Was this the best use of right, Mysterio on this card at the time? I think it was Conrad, he didn't have a story going in, right? Uh this wasn't, you know, because what you're thinking, I think about where it all went quite all would end up where all we went with Ray at that time, Those weren't on the top of the list of things to do. We knew he was a star and he was extremely talented just like he is today, he's Athena. But you know, I don't know that there was anything any any better for Ray, you know, you so well you can put him with a hot hell okay to do that. You gotta have a program, you gotta have a build up roll into WrestleMania with momentum, you just can't throw him in a kettle of fish there and sent him to be the prominent taste of your stew. But he was, he had got to the he had not gained the confidence events at that point to the level that he would eventually when he became the champion. So, uh, in a true sense to answer your question, it probably wasn't the best thing, but it was the best thing that we had available considering that we didn't have a program and something to build momentum going into this match featuring Ray or with Ray with a, with a hot wrestling son of a gun. Uh, hell that he could have a match and do with all the spots and he could, uh, the styles would be compatible. So it was just a different place in time in that regard. But everybody that, you know, followed Ray and on all of us. And you know what? I hired Ray. Uh, Ray had a contract, he had time left on his contract. He came to see me in the in la staples center. It was ready to go to work and his contract was up with WCW but they still owed him a lot of money. It's like until maybe you come to see me at Summerslam and then on, I think it was getting big money until january if I'm not mistaken. I said, here's the deal man. I can't match that faye anyway. Is to be honest with you, you can make more than that and he did Lord, you did. But there's got to be some motivation. You gotta hit the more you produce, the more money you make types arresting scenario salesmen, whatever it may be. And I said, here's my advice. Here's what I'd like to do. I want to hire you and I will hire you. You're, you're great talent and you can become even more famous than you are by being on this television. But the smart money right now for you is to stay home, train, Get over your, he's been resting. So he was like 14 Conrad, goddamn You know, Why don't you just enjoy the money? You're making that mailbox money, Get your body. That's exactly where you want it, and then we'll bring you in, uh.
