In addition, Real served as an instructor at the Marine Artillery Scout Observer Course aboard the Army's Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. In 2012, Real deployed with his Supporting Arms Liaison Team (SALT) from 1st ANGLICO to Afghanistan to be the fire support specialist for a Georgian Liaison Team.
