Andrew Novick is the director of JonBenet’s Tricycle, a documentary premiering at Denver Film Festival 40. Intrigued? I certainly was. Here’s the synopsis:
“Andrew Novick – a Mile-High legend as the man who collects almost everything – forges all sorts of emotional connections to the objects he acquires: either memories, curiosity or interest in the darker side of humanity. He was living in Boulder 20 years ago when JonBenét Ramsey’s tricycle fell into his hands after her notorious murder took place.
Recently compelled to tackle the unsolved mystery in his own way, Novick took the tricycle on a journey into the realm of psychic phenomena – or did it take him? This quirky autobiographical documentary is also an investigation of the human urge to possess what we value and the impact that pop culture and the media have on our experience of tragedy.”
It’s an amazingly entertaining film, and Andrew is a fascinating guy. We spend a lot of time talking about the film, but also touch on issues of culture, his collections, and a ton more in a pointed, but meandering chat.
And lucky for you, there are opportunities to see it at #DFF40! It premieres Saturday, November 11 at the Denver Pavilions at 4 pm, and then plays again Sunday, November 12 at 2 pm. You can get tickets here. You can follow JonBenet’s Tricycle on Twitter.
