But but boy uh the special effects in this movie really are bad, starting with well, the opening sequence, but then when you eventually get to where Jim finds Madame Leota, because now he's gone down the staircase in the hidden staircase and it's jennifer Tilly great casting, Great casting, she sounds great, she looks great, she's in the crystal ball, looks pretty good. But then you get the scene from the ride and this is where it comes off as a cash grab the scene in the ride, where you go around and she's talking about the spirits from Last Halloween and all that and you've got trumpets and drums, tambourines, tambourines and playing cards that are all floating. They basically forced it into this scene and Eddie Murphy is like in a chair that's spinning around the table and the special effects look really bad, which is crazy because of the length that they went through to get that shot. They had Eddie Murphy go in and they had, it was like a plastic ball that they lit from the inside so that no matter where he was, you got the glow from the ball on his face properly and it matched up the island. Okay, great. Then they sat him in a chair and they didn't spin the camera. It was a rig. He was in the rig as if he was on a ride and they just kept spinning him around and around the table and then for jennifer Tilly they shot her blue screen and then superimposed that into the ball. They had all the pieces there, but it just looks so fake and again, I feel like that's where it would have been a better choice to have the kids find her because that scene, it's a little bit more light, it's a little bit more colorful than the rest of the film. And I feel like it just would have worked better if it was the kids because they might realize that something was up, but they might have had a little fun with it.
