The analogy used most often to describe Yeshua's community is that of family. It's not that we're like a family, we are a family of talmidim. Spirit is thicker than blood. Reading from Reimagining Church by Frank Viola and Organic Church and Church 3.0 by Neil Cole. Basilica church versus home setting, pros and cons. Quote from Winston Churchill, first we share our buildings, then they shape us. Quote from Watchman Nee on intimacy of upper room. Best group size, extended family of 12-15. How do we resolve conflict and confront sin, in the context of secure family relationships, as with a dad, mom, brother, or sister. How do we train leaders, it starts with a man serving his wife and children. Two extremes of neglecting family for kingdom work, and hiding behind family from kingdom work. How do we understand mission. Not that the church has a mission, the mission has a church. Our missiology determines our ecclesiology, as Alan Hirsch says. Did Jesus die for this?! We want to change the world and have a cause worth living and dying for. What do we do with the kids? Kids don't interrupt family, kids are family!
