first stop is Eddie's saloon, one of La's oldest saloons, and this is located off of 1 31 East Fifth Street. So on their website, King Eddy saloon boasts that the sub level bar is part of an enormous network of underground tunnels, brawling the greater part of downtown Los Angeles. So their bar also holds the longest standing liquor license in the city. Wow! Now, back in the 20s and 30s, it was rumored to have sold pianos and I say that with finger home during prohibition, with drinkers sneaking in through a tunnel into the basement, bootleg speakeasy. And it was also a favorite of boujee novelists such as john fonte and our favorite dirty old man Charles Bukowski. Of course it was drink from the well of yourself and begin again, quote. Now, King Eddie became a skid row legend and may have been inspiration for Fontes autobiographical, ask the Dust that gave this place the legendary story of you guessed it, the ghostly hitchhiker F. Y. I. The saloon also claims to be the true origin of this often told and famous goes tail, the hitchhiker ghost. Now here's the things. According to legend. One repeat customer has been an inebriated woman who shows up just before closing and asks a male patron for a ride home to the Velvet Ear or the Velvet Dark Garden neighborhood in East Los Angeles, also another very haunted place. One man who took the bait alleged that he offered her his coat before getting into his car and they passed evergreen cemetery. She demanded he pulled over where she mysteriously jumps out of the car and disappears into the dark graveyard. This is where the story kind of gets a little weird, the driver goes out to look for her and his jacket. Of course, he finds that she has completely vanished and as he's leaving he notices his jacket is draped over a tombstone bearing the same name as the one the woman gave him. Yeah but also like 5050 odds that it's just like Bernice from finance and she is like really drunk that night and she's just like drive me to the Belvidere and he's like I couldn't find her after that but he left her in a graveyard. Like this bitch is drunk. I'm out. I'm going to say she was a ghost to start doing that when dates go back. I'm going to tell that it was a ghost. She was just white girl drunk. Yeah. No it was Rose's fault. That's really creepy though. Isn't really especially like something a little mm What's the word? Like calculated about like a ghost draping the coat over as opposed to like on the ground or crumpled or just like oh it was draped on the tombs down you with your name on it. Gross.
