@vincetracy and @ericmalpus discussed the takeover at Newcastle United and looked at some of the ramifications of this deal. There are voices of disapproval in the Guardian and Steve Bruce is now awaiting his dismissal. There some dodgy aspects to the deal. Meanwhile, John Barnes has written a very intelligent and well thought out article on racism in the game and racism in general. There's concern over a game which can be seen to encourage gambling which we discussed befor moving to the money-making aspect of the Bation's League final and a controversial VAR decision which went against Spain in favour of France. We predicted the Premiership games ahead.

it's talking football with ERIC Malpass and Vince Tracy. Okay, so a very good morning everybody. I'm hoping that eric can hear me from the frozen waste of Albania up here um near Denia, it's bright, it's definitely a bit cooler, which makes life a little bit easier for everybody. So uh to weigh them down to the frozen wastes and good morning to you, erIC, how's your weather down there? Good morning, Vincent, the weather is absolutely perfect. These are what I call good english summer days, you know, and uh it's just nice. That's spot on now, Beauty, what not to couple spot on, Okay, so we've got over the excitement of last week, big birthday for you, Big problems for various technology, so hopefully we can now look ahead and see if things can get back to normal, although normal doesn't mean too much anywhere at the moment. I mean if you look at Newcastle um they of course have just been taken over. So uh I I think both of us would agree it's a huge club and it needed something to happen. Mike Ashley has been sort of beleaguered to say the least and I think people do forget that these guys do put a lot of money in the club, but he's had a lot of criticism, so what's your take on the whole situation? Well, first of all, I think the Newcastle fans are great, you know, really good support is over the years. I remember when I first started watching football, Newcastle fans, it was a pleasure to go down to the ST James's Park and also when you come to our place, that main road, good fun, good band to really good support, unusual as well. Not like we've got some of nowadays, you know where I'm not going to go on about certain clubs about, you know, a bit thick some of them. But anyway, uh you castle the club itself, I mean he did put some money in trouble. Is he the, it didn't take to him because it was like coming from London and he was calling them all, you know, we brought in uh his number two, well not number two, uh, to overrun the club and that was a little and you used to play for Chelsea, Captain of his name now and uh overall it was actually London was taken over Newcastle and I think that was one of the big things at the very beginning when he first went down there. So uh yeah, it's been going backwards something that's the problem with Newcastle, everybody else is moving on. I mean you got really gate then he got back straightaway under Benitez. Nobody expected beneath us to stay when he got really great, but he did and brought them back. You have a series of blinking uh, managers that none of them really of it at the house really, Benitez was playing up kind of football, he want to play, they've been brought up on the Jackie Milk open days and kevin keegan, you know when Newcastle was Attack attack attack, you know, we say you know the people like that and now they're being fed kind of stuff defensive football and all these kind of things didn't help kind of so I reckon now that hopefully we'll get it all sorted out, you've got the money and it's up to them now the only trouble is you got the right people making the right decisions now getting the right manager and getting the right players and it's going to take time. Man City didn't up and over that. You know, we had about three or four managers before Pet got there but it takes time just remind me about those days because I've forgotten a little bit. Who did you have in for City? Well originally with Mark Hughes, he came in uh then we had Mancini and then before Pet we had Pellegrini, you know, so without the three managers joe royal was there originally before before Mark used but he wasn't in there when we had the money, you know it's when the money come in and he was one pushed out so that Mark use come in and Mark Hughes was pushed out to that Mancini come in and so on and so it was a progress of doing well and setting up the team, you know like Mancini is a great job for say apart from winning the league, I mean on that famous day when Aguero scored that goal in the 99th minute or whatever it was, it was a fantastic time for Man City supporter. Well he didn't just up and over now. So I say to New Castle families, be patient because it takes time to work everything out. And now obviously we're at the top now we've been taught for us, well we won the league for three of the last four seasons, Man City, so it just takes time, so I just take him to a patient because they do talk about it being um uh one of the great clubs and basically, you know, it's like, it seemed it does seem to be quite sad to to see a great club like that languishing when you look at all those great names that you mentioned before and the history of uh of that area of Britain and England's great heritage when it comes to football and I think um sometimes we need to think why are the fans um or not so much fans? It seems to be other people involved in the purchasing of clubs by the Saudis. Why do you think really there's this little undercurrent of why people aren't very happy about it. Yeah, well, because people in particular ones at the top, they want to keep their place at the top table and if Newcastle comes along and takes one of their place, I mean we've already seen arsenal and Tottenham drop out of the
