EPISODE 439-KT439-Double-Rainbow-May-Cloud-of-the-Month
GRATITUDE IN A MINUTE WITH KAREN TREIGER

I know we are some days into June, but I must take us back to May and describe May’s cloud of the month.  It’s a photo of a gray cloudy sky with a double rainbow.  “The inner bow,” the Cloud Appreciation Society explains, “is always brighter than the outer bow. . .  Both forms of rainbow appear only when sunlight shines uninterrupted from behind you onto a curtain of rain up ahead.”  That’s not all.  The colors of the two rainbows are opposite. The primary bow has red on the outside and the secondary bow has red on the inside. One final fascinating fact – if you look at the photo, which I highly recommend, you see the sky in between the two bows is darker than on the outside.  This is called the “Alexander’s Dark Bank,” after the Ancient Greek philosopher Alexander of Aphrodisias, who wrote about this in 200 CE.  I’m grateful to the Cloud Appreciation Society for yet again, gathering amazing photos and making them available for all to see.
