drag buddy. I am so excited to talk about this with you because I know I know because I feel like sometimes you sit at home and you scroll on the instagram or twitter and you watch draggers and you're like, what are these fucking kids doing? And I admittedly have those feelings sometimes, even though I'm, you know, a little younger than you, much younger than you, I still look back at the drag of this era and sometimes I look at the screen and I put my head to the side and I'm like, girl, what is that? And it's very interesting this new wave of not wearing titties, not wearing hips, not wearing corset. Um the super, super minimal makeup and I am a queen. I don't, I don't do like the big trixie eyes or the big heavy bob makeup or Bianca, but I still wear a lot of makeup in my opinion. So, um it is this, this new evolution and iteration of drag is very interesting. What are your thoughts about it? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Do you want more of it? Um, I mean, listen someone uh was talking, saying something to a friend of mine about how they don't like Cardi Ds music and my friend said, you know what, it's not for our age group. And I thought that was a really good point because it's like, yeah, at some point you stopped taking in new influences and you know, because I perform in nightclubs and parody songs or whatever. I kind of have to know what's going on. You know, I have to kind of keep my hand in there. But yeah, I mean it's like the, this is, we're not talking about music, we're talking about drag, but everyone always wants to ask me about how drag has changed. I don't want to go into that whole thing now. But one thing that I did notice that money and I were just chatting about is that I did watch the lip sync from the past friday's drag race and Candy versus Olivia. That's right. And so Olivia would be more traditional drag with big hair the way snipped in. She had on a beautiful dress with like a bow that accentuated the hips. And you know then Candy was she? I mean, honestly, if I had just seen uh photo, I'm not sure that I would have known that she was in drag because the wig wasn't um very big. You know, Olivia's was big, probably two or three wigs definitely jacked out and Candy was wearing like an asymmetrical um bob, which can be a fashioning look, but maybe it's more fashion if it looks like it wasn't cut by a lawnmower. Um but so the other thing is, uh, I was trying to look at. Um, so, I mean, so, so the candies wig did not make her face look very feminine and she does have a cute face. But you know, I like big wigs. So that's like an old, you know, Tommy Draghi, you know, thing. And if somebody wants to be more androgynous, well then that's perfectly, perfectly fine. But usually in a show or runway presentation, you do think a bigger. But then I looked down from the wig and because she doesn't, where does she never wear boobs? Candy? I mean throughout this entire season and maybe see her where boobs once. Candy does not wear boobs. She has her own, you know, fleshy, you know, boobs. So if that's what she wants to wear. But when, when I saw it without the heels from like a mid angle, I mean it didn't exactly look like she was even in drag because you know, the, the shape, you know, and I'm not saying how many different the shape was boxing, you know? Yeah. Well, I mean this, this is definitely, this has been a trend. I mean more so than any of the drag season I've seen. Yes, aquarium would sometimes uh we're not, we're not, sometimes a lot of times did not wear wigs in my season. And that's just not Aquarius thing, but aquariums like one of like the, when, when all the rest of us did And then like season 11, a few, a little more season to a little more, but season 13 this current season. I mean a lot of the girls, at least at least seven of them like candy got mixed Simone. Uh I'm trying to think of what's on the season. Uh Utica, Sometimes a lot of them just don't wear boobs and um, they will wear hips more so than not wear boobs and or they won't court or they weren't sent or anything. And then sometimes when I would critique them, I'm slipping, I'm slipping lottery. The fans like, you need to embrace all types of bodies. Like this is like, this is like their drag and like, and like not all women have boobs, not all women wear hips, not women since. And I'm like, yeah, I get that. But this is drag where you're like creating this fantasy in this, like you're heightening it. So if if they don't, if not all women have boobs, well, you know what? Not all women wear heels, not all women wear makeup. So why bother getting in drag? Right. Yeah. Put any makeup. I put on an earring look. I understand there's always been like an androgynous drag where people don't fully get into drag. They they uh you know, maybe it's like a man who wears heels and I mean this has been going on, you know for for ages and ages and ages. And so they won't wear boobs because unlike me, they're not doing like a drag look. I mean they may be wearing slacks and heels, they're not really, they're not doing like a looks, they're not wearing a big woman's hair. So it's kind of like a fashion, it has traditionally been like a fashion manic and thing. Like if you're wearing a very, very chic look, there were some guys that went out to studio 54 wearing that. There was a Todd Oldham used a male model named Billy Beyond who was literally walking with linda evangelista and honey, nobody was laughing and he didn't wear boobs because probably the suits and stuff did not would not be big enough for him to put boobs into. So you know, it can look like a chic man occurred. But I'm gonna tell you as someone who is, you know, on the heavy side. Um so when you don't wear boobs and you have a big stomach, the stomach sticks out further than your natural man's boobs and that's gonna be, you know, I'm not body shaming. But in terms of what is chic, that's not gonna strike most people as chic and all I know is that is my guts got bigger out. The tits have gotten bigger too honey because we want to, it's a little race to see which one can poke out the furthest, you know, and I am losing. But I do try so, but but you know, I think that the the idea is that you hit on is that people think that drag could and should be anything. And I I respect that. I mean there have been people that don't people that like more traditional drag. They're not gonna like milks drag, which is, you know, makeup and a wig and guys body. But I don't, I never shit on milks desire. Yeah, his his I think what he does is actually cool. So I take it on a case by case basis, you know. Yeah. Well what this competition I've
