This book was a unique slog out of all of the books that we have red for a terrible book club. I had some of the hardest times just willing myself to reopen this thing and get through more of these. 620. Some pages 600 And 20. No, no, no, it's, I believe it was 672. Okay. Even worse. So um I yeah, I similarly had this problem where I'd be like, okay, it's nice out. I'm gonna go sit on the back deck and read and so I did this and it made it a lot more pleasant. Uh there's a, there's a fountain out there now, you know, the yard's full of all kinds of good flowers and stuff, it's a good time. And I'm like, all right, I can handle this sitting in the sunshine or in the shade of the tree and whatever it is, it's a shitty book. At least I'm sitting outside. You got a nice fountain going while I'm reading this book, Bird shit on my laptop. For me, that was like the ultimate sign that this is not to be trifled with. Yeah, this was such a hard time for me that the terrifying visage of terrible himself is now emblazoned upon me. I have been marked by this book paris, but by the book, God, it's true. Chris actually has a really rad tattoo of the book. God that we I don't want to say pretend exist because I think we've actually willed him into existence at this point be manifested on my arm is how I'm taking this deal. Actually. I think this is a uniquely horrific experience for me. I think terry blow. I always, I always say him, but I think terrible as they them, I don't think we know to be below has a has a general, I would not assign any gender to that. But chris has been, Yeah, I have been marked. Wait, no, that's the other vampire series. It um Yeah, I don't know. We'll probably post pictures on social media and it's done. But chris get all the line work done. It looks fucking awesome and fun fact. That's going to sort of be sort of what's on some of our new words. So get excited for Eldridge before we dive into this Eldridge Eldridge book. God's uh One more thing about the uniquely terrible experience of reading this book. So like I said, you know, I was sitting outside one of the times, I was sitting outside reading my laptop did get shit on by a bird. I did have to dig bird shit out of my laptop keys. Do not recommend. Um Secondly though, on more than one occasion I'd be reading and reading for like 15, 20 minutes and then realize this isn't the right spot. I've already read this fucking chapter. Not thinking it works for yourself. Great. It happened I thought you can't read and tell Right, right. Exactly, yes, it happened three I think three or four times and I was like, God fucking dammit. Like because yeah, like chris and it runs to it all runs together so much in The first, I don't know 80% of the book that you actually don't know. Like it doesn't matter where you are. A lot of the same shit. A lot of these pages. Yes, so All right. That's that's kind of our preamble. Uh Let's let's talk about things that were good, it'll be brief. All right. Um So I will say I was surprised by two things about the writing. one. It actually seems to be edited in terms of Grammar, spelling, syntax um although not edited for redundancy but edited for technicalities sake you know. Um it's definitely not, it is not tightly written at all. Um and the dialogue and behaviors of characters are definitely alien a lot of the time but but the writing was overall better than I imagined it would be. There were even a couple of phrases that were okay, you know, it's a step below and rice but not nearly as bad as the selections I've read from like shade 50 shades of grey and which for some reason I thought that this was kind of on the same level as, but she was like a copy of this which is like horrendous. Yeah. So I will say it's um, I didn't enjoy it but at least I wasn't, you know like stumbling over excess commas or like trying to even understand what a sentence meant. You know, you can read it as a human. Yes. No, any Meyer is like competence with putting paragraphs and ideas together and I don't usually I didn't feel too lost. There's a couple of parts where I was like wait, what happened here? I really yeah, I really think the only part that was confusing was just when what during the chase thing at the end and I kind of figured out what happened. But yeah, it was it was pretty unclear. Yeah, but like there's Edwards air monologue is just the problem with it is that it's the same shit over and over again. But if you had cut that for some redundancy perfectly readable, I would say not something I'd enjoy all the time, but certainly a step above a cut above a lot of the other stuff we read here. Yeah, so I was I was definitely surprised by the fact that it yeah, you know, the writing wasn't quite as terrible as I imagined. Don't take that to mean that I'm saying this was well written or that I don't have any problems with it. I do. But creditors do you know for the fact that it was it was, you know, uh it was edited, it was closely edited for at least tactical writing aspects. And you know, you could read a sentence and know what it meant. There you go. And I know this sounds like why are you even saying this? But if you've ever listened to the show before, you will not miss many times. Yeah. That basic ass bar not often cleared on the show.
