Guesting on Big Boy's Fully Loaded Interviews, Mike Tyson offers his thoughts on face tattoos and explains the origins of his own. According to Tyson, he frequently forgets about his own face tattoo, so when he sees other people with designs on the faces, it freaks him out a little. Tyson is largely credited as the celebrity who pioneered face tattoos in America, but he credits his own inspiration to the Maui people.
you know what I'm saying? Mike Tyson, I want to ask you this man, we're in a position now where we see all these rappers. Everybody got tattoos on their face now. Years ago, you were like the first person that we knew? You know, there's other tribals. But you were like one of the first people that we saw, sit down and put a tattoo on their face when you first got that tattoo. What were some of the things that you heard about having a tattoo on your face? No man, I was totally crazy. It sounds crazy and I was out of my mind. Do you look at it now with regret or is it just because it was cutting edge? Mm Did it hurt? Not much. I just feel like it would rattle your school or something? Well, he mike Tyson I think is the remaining behind it and some Maui tag from New Zealand Native Tribe. When you, when you look at a lot of people now, just with everything on their face, do you think like they'll regret that? Or do you just feel like, well that's your face? No, because I'm unconscious that I have a tattoo on my face because I have in my face, but I don't feel it. But when I see somebody else with a bunch of crazy tattoos, I'm saying, whoa, this guy's out there, like look at this. But you know what, I couldn't imagine you now, we can go through found footage and look at stuff, but I can't imagine mike Tyson now without the tattoo on his face. Neither could I.
