In this episode of the Pawareness Podcast, we welcome Julian Javor, Founder of Pet Rescue Pilots. As a 501(c)(3) organization, Pet Rescue Pilots pursues the mission to provide animals from overcrowded kill shelters in California with suitable homes and loving families. By flying them across the west coast of the United States and Canada, they give hope to animals by sending them to rescue groups, foster homes, and a safer environment to live in.
Julian shares how he finds his purpose in helping animals and special needs dogs by using his aviation education. After discovering what most rescues and shelters lack, which usually involves transportation in relocating their animals to their forever homes, Julian realizes that he can help address this problem by volunteering with his aviation skills. He also participates in local government efforts to improve the lives of pets and support animal welfare and encourage officials to further address the recurring problems that the animal community faces, such as euthanasia.
By establishing a network of rescues and building their partnerships, Pet Rescue Pilots continues its mission to help animals that are in need of loving families. Whether or not their potential adopters are located in different states, the organization makes it possible for these animals to become united with people who are committed to taking good care of them and giving them the best lives that they deserve.
“There are so many people who don’t even know that a million cats and dogs are being euthanized all over the country annually. That’s not making good on our part of the deal. We didn’t domesticate them so they could be born to be killed. We just need everybody’s cooperation to do the right thing.” - Julian Javor
