today. I wanted to talk about a quote from Maya Angelou. She just recently passed away on May 28th, and I wanted to honor her by mentioning one of her quotes. And this particular quote means a lot to me because it really has a lot to do with my past and the things that I went through to get where I am today. So the quote is, I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life. And that is just so true. I think, especially in America here. We don't often take the time to actually appreciate our life and to get out and enjoy it. Too often I feel that were just kind of in, ah, robotic state of mind. We're just on neutral, I suppose, and just kind of going We're not really living the life that we want to live, much less the life that we're supposed to be living. And this really rings true for me. Back when I used to work at biotech company in the Pharmaceutical Department, I did that for about eight years, and I wasn't happy to say the least. I often found myself just getting in that rut. Getting in that routine every single day was the same. I would wake up. I'll go work out, come back home, go driving toe work, sit through that traffic, which was horrendous Gettinto work, you know, kind of beyond the computer, going to the lab and do some work. Go eat lunch, go back to the lab, go back to the computer, kind of puts around on the computer a little bit more. And then on a good night, I would go and do some mountain biking and then go home and watch TV eat dinner. And that would be my day. That was about that. And that was a good night on a bad night. I just sat in more traffic, and oftentimes I would just stop off at Taco Bell or Jack in the box because I was so stressed out from the day. I just want a garbage for the night. I'll go home and plot myself in front of the TV and watch for maybe 3 to 4 hours while I ate garbage. That was my life. That was my life, and I was in that rut and it's hard to get out of that. So I know it's really difficult to get out of that rut to get out of that same day to day routine. But we need to We need to learn for ourselves that making a living is not the same thing is making a life if you're frustrated, if you're angry, if you're upset, make the changes that you need to make to make your life happen, not to just make a living. So for me, I'll always remember the conversation I had with a friend of mine that pretty much change the course of my life. I was talking with her about nutrition and all the different things that I could do in that field. And it wasn't this big sign in the sky saying, You need to do this with your life. No, it was just these little subtle hints and subtle push is subtle nudges in the right direction, and I started listening to them because I was so frustrated. I was so fed up because I knew I wasn't the living. I wasn't living the life I was supposed to live, So I started listening and I started following my passion. My passion for nutrition, for lifestyle, for how the body works. I had no idea where I was going to go with it had no idea what I was going to dio. It never never dawned on me. Toe actually open up my own business. Scared the heck out of me to do that, so I never thought I would. But things just progressed, and here we are. You have to follow your passion. You have to figure out what your passion is first, and then you have to follow that passion. That's your life. That's the life that you need to make. You can't just make a living. Well, you can, but I don't know that you're going to be all that happy doing it. If it's your life. If that's what you're meant to be doing great, that's your life. But if you find yourself often frustrated in that same day to day, right, start thinking about what your passion is. Start thinking about what you want to be doing with your life. Stop worrying about the money. Stop worrying about Oh, I can't do this because it's not going to pay the bills. I had no clue what I was going to do when I first started getting into nutrition into lifestyle into fitness, I had no idea. But I knew that it was my passion and I had to keep going with it or else I was going to continue to be frustrated and angry and upset. Don't worry about the money. Just start following your passion. Start following your goals, your dreams. Everything else will work itself out. So again honor Maya Angelou by taking her quote toe heart. I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life. Do what you want to do, not what society is telling you to do. Not what everybody else is telling you to dio do what you want to do. Make that life your life because it is yours.
