you know, it is, oddly enough, a great segue to our guest, who is also, by his own admission, not exactly clear whether he's alive. He's also made by man. It's a golden Boris Karloff, and we're gonna get right to his interview right after these messages from our newest sponsor. Hey, son, how what are you getting up to this weekend? I'm checking off. What? Shouldn't you be up with your friends? I don't got any friends. What? No son of mine is not going to have any friends. Tell you what. Let me let you in on a little secret, huh? It's not a beer. It's liquid charisma. Give me a That's right. The major is down at Pepsi Company Have gone and done it again. You've heard of strength. You've heard of healing. You've heard of decks potions. But now it's a new summer classic with charisma. I felt 10 times as handsome, Dad, and you look like it to get out there, son. Oh, friends. Here I come. This lands. It's a great time. And the great taste of charisma. Uh, yeah. Wow. Some of Spain, uh, we say this literally have episode, but I think this may be the best sponsor we've had yet. I mean, it's for a good cause, you know? It's for a great cause. And speaking of great guys, you know, there's a There's a lot of there's a story history of men of all sorts and women, mortals of all kinds making creatures for causes great and small. And we have one such incredible constructed creature here today on the show. Please be excited. Excited? He's incredible. He's a gholam. Please welcome Boris Karlan. Hello. Hi, everyone. I'm sorry, Boris. Thanks for having me. Thanks for being on the show. You know, you're the first magical construct we've we've had as a guest. Oh, Frankie. Yes. Well, um, I guess a little about that. I'm I'm a for the audience listening. I'm a 15 ft tall homunculus. I'm made of clay like a dreidel. And, uh, I am Jewish. Uh, and you know, I was created by Talmudic wizard. That's pretty cool. You know, one of the first wizards ever in film was was was a sign of film about a gholam being made. Really? Oh, I think I've heard of that. It's called Dura Gholam. I'm not sure the name, but, yeah, you have a long history and entertainment, and we're glad to have used the first goal amount of podcast. Yeah. You know, I think I'm a little bit different than what you would see on, you know, the silver screen. Sure. Okay. How so, Boris? Well, you know, on the silver screen there just large and lumbering and they, like, throw rocks at you and they guard scrolls, and you know that I actually do all of that. That's actually pretty accurate, but there's more to you, I assume. Right? Well, yeah. There's also a lot of clerical work. Oh, really? Really critical work. Yeah. You know, I have to keep track of the amounts of, like, attempted invasions into, uh, the boss man's chambers, which, you know, he hasn't occupied the space in a while. You know, he went out for a pack of smokes and said he'd be right back in the That's a while back. But that's okay. Okay. How long ago did that happen? God, what's in a year? Um, 365 days. Okay, given that, like 20 of those. Okay. All right. All right. He stepped out for a while and left me in charge. But thankfully, I'm a self starter. So that's good. I mean, you sound very bright and sprightly, right? Yeah. You know, I've taught myself Excel. Okay, that's that's huge. You know, I can't tell you how many professional models I've met who have still can't even work a basic spreadsheet that's honestly shocking. You would think so. But it's it's pretty well and and and for you as a you know, Gholam, if I'm recalling the law correctly, you generally have a sort of a set mission. You mentioned hurling rocks, guarding your your creatives quarters and for you to go off and teach yourself things and expand yourself. I think that's huge, sort of growing beyond what you were created to do what I was created to throw large boulders at people who were invading to steal my master's personal documents. Um, and that really only happens ever so often. You know, I guess there's a lot of downtime as a goal. Yeah, I don't have that much to do or have have the invasions kept up since your master lift. You know, the last one was about five years ago. Uh, it was really sad. Honestly, How so? So I think it was less of an invasion. And just like some kids who are exploring And, uh, you know, you know, like when you're writing a function like when you're on excel and you write a function, you know, you're like, you know, you would insert these into these cells and then this result comes out. That's sort of like what my programming is. I really can't not throw boulders at the invaders. Sure. How do you feel about that? You know, you have so much free free will all the other times. But when you know when these functions come in, you have to put out this output. You know, it was rough at first, um, because I've had a sort of, like, meta cognitively think about my own free will and whether free will really exists in the first place. And, uh, I guess the way I've coped with it is by convincing myself that free will just doesn't exist for anyone. It's just usually more complicated for other creatures, and it's a little more simple with myself. I just throw rocks at into
