http://www.americanantigravity.com - In this tour of the Hamilton-Sundstrand booth at the STAIF Conference, product representative Stan Pinkowski discusses the future of space-nuclear power, and gives us a walk-through of space nuclear and solar power technologies that this aerospace contractor specializes in integrating into the space-technology systems of tomorrow.

Given the new focus on utilizing "heritage technologies" to eventually build a permanent human presence on the moon, the Hamilton-Sundstrand message becomes particularly relevant to today's space-economy: Whether you're running a nuclear power resource or a solar panel array, you're going to need thermal-to-electric conversion technology to convert and condition the power into a form capable of powering the myriad of electrical devices required in the space environment. Hamilton-Sundstrand hopes to become the leading integrator of these power-conversion systems, and believes that their technologies can be used to keep life-support, navigation, computing, and other systems running at full steam no matter what the mission duration is.

Stan Pinkowski cites Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators (RTG's), Brayton, Rankine, and photovoltaic systems as being some of the key enabling products produced by Hamilton-Sundstrand corporation. Hamilton Sundstrand, Pratt & Whitney, and the Rocketdyne corporate are all corporate subsidiaries of the Unified Technologies Corporation (UTC), a diversified company providing high-tech products and services to the aerospace industry.
