them. And she was like, Well, wait a minute. What? So this stuff that's cameras will do in order to get money from you, and they will work any means necessary. So you might be wondering, How do they contact you? Well, they go to so many extremes to contact you either by social media, chat groups, dating sites, you name it, they on it. They don't care what you say or do. If you're looking for love, they will find ways to play with your emotions and take your money. Thes money. Hungry ass ninjas will not stop until they either get little or all your money and they have a quota to make. And that is to take, take, take. They contact you by social media on all sorts of platforms. Social media is one of the many major platforms they use to find both the victims to steal identities and to scam some in which searches those that just had broken up complicated relationships, divorced, widowed with or or just playing single. They prey on your loneliness to achieve their monetary goals. So one of these platforms I mentioned a few Facebook because I hate to say it, but I think we all know that Facebook is the stalker's dream. In a mecca for romance scams, it has everything about you. Relationship, relationship, status, pictures, etcetera, everything. Uh, they have your D M or direct message. Taken direct message you until you ah, convincing story about them. They know some will not look at their site, you know, their profiles and everything, but others will. Either way, Facebook so far has the most traffic for romance. Scamming I get asked to be a friend Seems like every week by five different people because I put my relationship status as complicated. And let me tell you, my relationship was talking about me, not anyone in my life. I would never put my relationship on blast like that. It's nobody's business, and nobody needs to know if I'm single, married, dating, whatever. That's none of their business. But I felt like the relationship for me was complicated because I was going through a complicated time. So there you go. But instagram, it's not as detailed as Facebook or to some of the dating sites, but they try to take a chance to get to know you there to, uh they they d m you or direct message? You there, uh, make it look like they got their shit together. It's like a former mesmerizing the person they see fit their agenda and trying to let you know a girl. Boy, I got you this. That any other don't believe that height. Thank got you. But if you assume enough to send them that money, then they got you. Okay? Dating sites. And of course, you know, there's a plethora of them. You've got plenty of fish e harmony. Um, black people meet you. Name it, they got it. They're scoping everything as long as they get their next payday. So what means do they use? You know what? To be honest with you, all some of these guys aren't smart. They're not. Therefore, they use a script to follow and maybe a trainer in order to get you to fall for them. I think sometimes they actually like school them first and let them do a dry run and then let them out. Kind of like, I don't know, like a insurance agent or something like that. E don't know, uh, but the scripts are sometimes verbatim, and they can actually make some of those fall or butch keyword some. So please don't fall in that category of some being that category of no hell, no. Hell, no. Hell to the No, no, no, we ain't having that. Okay. When I say means literally, it's tools that they use that will indicate that this person you are talking to is raising red flags. Romance. Scamming is a Fortune 500 business that has people all over the world helping them. So my advice to you is to proceed with caution, Ask for money. What's your way? Say I want you by asking for money when you have never met them. Never, ever seen them in your life. They usually wait till they feel you are eating out of their hands before asking. I cannot be any clearer when I say For the love of all that is holy do not send money. They will ask you to send money by Western Union MoneyGram or which I thought was crazy. When I was asked your bank, they will either use a name belonging. Toa a coworker, family member or friend is never them and say, Oh, well, my coworker could go pick it up for me because I'm doing something right now or I'm really sick right now. And I'm gonna have my mom pick it up for me Or put it in this name. Put it in that name. Um, etcetera, etcetera. Nobu, Nobu Don't believe that that no, that's not happening. That's not happening. It ain't no friend. It's somebody that's going to take that money. And then they're gonna transfer it from another Western Union Thio another Western unit to make sure it's not traceable because Western Union, MoneyGram and all that is not traceable. Um, sometimes they ask you to use a gift card and send them the gift card information either through phone or email or the little, um, direct message and mhm. I hate to say this y'all, but these methods are non traceable. So once they got you, they got you as far as the bank. I had my friends to marry. Check it out and they have a ton of information. In order to send funds, they have to have addresses. Um, they want driver's license and all this other stuff. So basically now, because I was advised to go to a bank. The banks ain't doing it that way anymore is now traceable. Um, so they might wanna take that out of their head now, so you know, and sometimes they just not that smart and they use their own name. That's even more suspicious. Because if that's supposed to be overseas, why are they picking up a Western union in Texas, Right, Just I'm baffled with this. Thank, before you send anything, don't don't even send anything. Just don't just just say no. Cut it off. They will ask you to go on a different platform for texting or other forms of contacting. I don't know what it what it is with the WhatsApp or Google meets, but this is another red flag to follow. They know that on the social media platforms that they are, they could be tracked. So they take you off off the platform that's non traceable. And if they delete you or block you, the conversation has gone off those untraceable platforms like WhatsApp or Google meets. But at least with, for instance, Facebook, the direct message
a lot. This show will help you not be that victim. Someone once asked me, What's the difference between catfishing and romance scams? Well with both, they use the same methods to lure the victims. Some even followed the same script. The only difference is catfishing does not ask for financial gains or methods. Cat fishers don't ask you to send the money nor ask you to give up your house or car. They just use it to fantasize, being with you or want to play with your emotions. There's two victims of romance scams, though, and I hate to say it. It's a double edged sword. Both have no clue what's happened or what they got into. So Victim number one, Those are the people who had pictures and information stolen off their social media site. They used, usually not used, but they usually would not know until somebody context them like friends or family, or sometimes by the people that got scammed. And the one thing that really gets under my skin is thes sick. Owes even use their Children's pictures as a way to hook somebody into believing them and falling for them, And it's just is unacceptable. Victim number two is those that actually fell in love with the scammer. Either have given the scammers money or assets of value are was there. And then all of a sudden, you know, told him, um, that they didn't have the money in May assist with the money laundering that they're doing right now. But either way, um, some has actually given up millions of dollars and of dollars in assets. And when I say assets of value, it could be cars. It could be your house deed. Um, you sing cars, these people or your house want you toe sign your house over to the bank and send them the money. Um, and that actually has happened. I've read reports One lady, um, she was a widow, and so her. Or shipped her to cars to Nigeria for the scammer. And another lady who she She got the awakening of lifetime. When the scammer told her thio sign it, signed a deed over to the bank, take the money from the bank and actually send it to them. And she was like, Well, wait a minute. What? So this stuff that's cameras will do in order to get money from you and they will work any means necessary. So you might be wondering, How do they contact you?
