Are you ready to take your voiceover career to the next level? The Voiceover Network is an organisation for voiceover professionals providing voiceover training, webinars, The Buzz magazine, support, networking events and an amazing voiceover community. If you are thinking of getting in to voiceover work or if you already work in this area and just want to know what’s going on in the industry – then this podcast is for you. Today’s guest is Gina Mellotte who is one of the busiest and most heard UK voiceovers. She has worked as a live continuity announcer for many years, and has been the voice of God at the Baftas as well as working for television and radio stations such as MTV, the London Olympics, ITV, Channel 5, Asda, National Geographic and many more. When Gina was just starting out in voiceover someone in the industry told her she’d never make it. Big mistake! She tells us how she was determined to turn around that criticism and to prove them wrong! We discuss changes in the industry and the different career paths that can lead to voiceover work – not everyone has to start as an actor as Gina’s background in television production can testify. For Gina, sight-reading is one of the most important skills you can have as a voiceover artist and she gives us her tips on how to prepare for a job. Gina is an inspiring guest and she believes that if voiceover is for you, then you have to stick with it through the ups and downs. We talk about how changes in technology have affected the industry and she discusses the importance of promoting yourself and your voiceover business. Gina gives us her advice on how best to market yourself to achieve voiceover success in the industry today. Our host is Rachael Naylor, founder and director of The Voiceover Network as well as an experienced voiceover artist.
