Dissolving the masks of masculine programming with Ben Bidwell Welcome to another episode of the Soul Surgery podcast and our Surrender Series where I dive deeply into my guests’ greatest points of surrender.
This week I am joined by the wonderfully wise Ben Bidwell. Ben is a mindset and purpose coach, a writer and public speaker. His purpose in this world is to open up and strip back the conversation around mental health and release the stigma that still exists here.
Ben is on a journey to dissolve the story around what it means to be a man in this world. He shares how in service of his truth and authenticity he has had to surrender the ideas, pictures, conditioning and stories that he had absorbed around what it means to be a man.
Ben courageously faced judgements and losing friends as he learned to truly let go and trust. He came to realise that this was in fact a way to connect with people on a much deeper level.
Make sure to share your biggest takeaways and aha moments in the comments.
Episode Highlights:
· When we live our lives trying not to be a certain way what we are creating is a huge amount of resistance which blocks us from being our authentic selves.
· Conditioning can become stronger and have more of an influence over how we live than what feels natural and this causes huge confusion.
· It can feel easy to stay stuck in our way of being, despite the suffering it causes, it feels familiar and safe. But we will get to a point where the discomfort of staying the same is worse than the discomfort of changing.
· To truly become free we have to let go of everything – the stories, conditioning and who we have known ourselves to be.
· Our most important relationship is the one we have with ourself.
If you too feel ready to re-create your relationships or your life by breaking free of old patterns on a holistic level, across mind, body and soul, I invite you to order my book SURRENDER.
SURRENDER will walk you through a life changing process of maturation. Of breaking free of the vicious cycle of repeated stuck patterns, stories and belief systems, trauma and ancestral wounds.
It’s more than just a book. It’s a guide through a deep healing journey of SURRENDERING of who you are NOT so that you can unfurl into who you were BORN TO BE.

RMP 186 - Lean Into What Makes You Cringe with Ben Bidwell “The cringe is just a load of BS, it’s society trying to tell you who you should be.”   Ben Bidwell is a mindset coach, author, and speaker dedicated to stripping the masks of masculinity and mental health. Today’s authentic conversation focuses on the power of vulnerability and its ability to create intimacy. We also cover why to take heartfelt action rather than conforming, how to move past the fear of not knowing, and why self-understanding is foundational to happiness.   Highlights:   How can we navigate periods of uncertainty? Why vulnerability leads to greater connection and trust. The difference between what you think and what you know. Why the leader in the room is the one willing to go the deepest. How can we simultaneously be completely vulnerable and maintain our masculine edge? Does needing to know the future hold us back? Why fear prevents us from being present to the moment. How can we lean into the aspects of masculinity that scare us the most? Who do I want to be and who do I need to be? 'Life Happens' ... with Ben Bidwell 'Life Happens' is the podcast that helps you build mental fitness, speaking to inspirational people about life’s ups and downs, how they’ve overcome setbacks and what it means to them to be mentally fit.
A very special guest on this episode of ‘Life Happens’ because of his standing in the world of mental health, Ben Bidwell has been on a journey of self-discovery and is on a mission to help others understand who they truly are.
From a life in which he ‘once lived uninspired’, struggling with creativity and a sense of purpose, Ben has reinvented himself as a prominent mindset coach, writer, public speaker and vocal campaigner for the need to change the stigma about mental health.
In an open and honest conversation with our marketing director, James Gwinnett, Ben talks about overcoming the pressure to conform and seek acceptance in today’s society. He challenges us to ask ourselves whether there is more we could be doing to connect with our bodies, learning to listen to how we’re feeling and ultimately finding greater fulfilment.
Doing so allows us to move away from the idea of having to ‘do, do, do’ all the time, and find balance. Allowing what Ben calls ‘flow’ and surrendering rather than constantly feeling like we have to work things out, is a much lighter, more natural and less stressful way of being.
It is a powerful conversation that will encourage you to think about your ‘flow’ and how you can better connect with yourself and learn who you truly are.
We hope you enjoy the episode. If you do, please subscribe and share it with your friends as this will help us in our mission to improve the mental fitness of society percent by percent.
EP85: Men, Masculinity & Love Featuring Ben Bidwell, Jamie Clements & James Walsham Do men fear not finding love?    Do men fear being abandoned while in a relationship? Where does this idea that men don't want to open their hearts to love come from?   All these and many more questions about men, masculinity and their effect on a man's willingness and capacity to love.   In this episode of The Authentic Man podcast, David is joined by three incredible men he is lucky enough to call friends.    Ben Bidwell a mindset & purpose coach, writer & public speaker. Jamie Clements, a breathwork coach and mental health ambassador and James Walsham Men's Coach & Mental Health Advocate.   This is a very raw, honest, and moving account of 4 men's experience falling in love, being broken-hearted, breaking other people's hearts, being avoidant of relationships, and being anxious about love and lying to partners.    What you get from listening to this episode is to hear four men show up with vulnerability and courage and tell you what it has taken them to get over their love and relationships fears, and shift into a place where they are open-hearted, unafraid, and are now inviting love into their lives.     The key topics are:   👑 Why men are avoidant or anxious about love 👑 Do men want to love 👑 How can man overcome the fear of falling in love 👑 Why men are scared of love and connection 👑 Why men lie when in a relationship 👑 The magic of surrendering 👑 Why men are taught not to be vulnerable  👑 How to be vulnerable  👑 How to open up to receiving love      Connect With Ben Bidwell:   Instagram: Website:   Connect With Jamie Clements:   Instagram: Website:   Connect With James Walsham:   Instagram: Website:   Connect With David - The Authentic Man:   Instagram: Website: For Coaching:   Upcoming Events:  Intimate: The Reimagined 19.07.21 - 22.07.21 I am teaming up with my wonderful partner @coachwithasa alongside @thesecretyogaclub and @templeofthefeminine. 53. Healing, Honouring and Tackling the Wounded Masculine with Ben Bidwell Ben Bidwell is a mindset & purpose coach, writer & public speaker who is stripping back the conversation to change the stigma about mental health.
He once lived uninspired, driven by other people’s expectations at the cost of his own unique authenticity, but what he now knows is that external validation doesn’t bring an internal sense of fulfillment. Whilst he was ticking boxes that society deemed successful, the empty feeling he felt on the inside often led him to ask himself, “Is there more to life?”.
Having been on his own journey, his goal is very clear. Every day he aims to show up authentically to inspire his audience to connect more with who they are at their best, the person their heart craves them to be.
In this episode, we talk all about masculine and feminine energy, toxic masculinity (or, toxic conditioning), wounded masculine traits, sex and intimacy, feeling our feelings and what we can do to help the men in our lives be more authentic.
