Episode 60 - Fanboy Will Attends the 2009 Big Apple Comic Convention Fanboy Will attended the 2009 Big Apple Comic Convention most specifically a panel that was supposed to include The Dukes of Hazzard stars Catherine Bach, Tom Wopat, and John Schneider. It turned out the only one able to attend due to various reasons was John Schneider. He did not disappoint as he talked very candidly about both Hazzard and his other SUPER acting gig on Smallville.

Episode 59 - Kellen Gibbs and George Norman Lippert - Harry Potter Themed Fan Film This week we’ve got two – two shows in one. The first half of this week’s show we speak to Kellen Gibbs and George Norman Lippert about the Harry Potter themed fan film production “James Potter and the Hall of Elders’ Crossing”. There’s an interesting spin on how this film came about. George wrote a full length fan fiction novel continuing the series originally created by J. K. Rowling. Kellen, in turn, found the story online visualizing George’s writing into a short film. On Saturday, November 21st that film will be put online for the world to see.

The second half of this week’s show we’ll talk to Fanboy Will about his experiences at this year’s Big Apple Comic Convention that was held October 16th through the 18th. He was able to briefly speak with Supergirl’s Helen Slater and Smallville’s John Schneider.

Episode 57 - Dan Poole - Alpha Dog Productions - Part 1 Dan Poole from Alpha Dog Productions is another fan film legend who has helped pave the way for today’s fan film makers. For Fanboy Will, Dan and his film “Green Goblin’s Last Stand” is the single reason why he’s a fan of the genre and the reason we do this podcast today. Thanks, Dan!

In this interview we not only talk about Dan’s Spiderman film, but we also discuss his second fan production “Wolverine Last Call” made for the San Diego Comic Con. When the San Diego Comic Con refused to play anymore fan films due to the success of Sandy Collora’s “Batman: Dead End” a year before and the license holders having a pissy fit the Wolvie film had to change venues via a local bar near the convention center. This experience tainted Dan’s want to continue with his fan film career so he does what most fan film makers eventually do – he turned to his own original concepts.

This is part one of the two part interview with Dan.

Episode 56 - Cameron McCasland - EZ Chewie We don’t cover a lot of Star Wars fan films here on the FFP so with that acknowledged Fanboy Will and I are very happy to be talking to Cameron McCasland who is one of the many, many, many people who have directed their fan film making towards the Star Wars universe in this case with his short film EZ Chewie. Equally as interesting is a little trivia which may be news to a lot of die hard fanboys and girls. Cameron, at the age of four, was instrumental in creating some of the characters appearing in the 80’s He-Man spin off She-Ra. How is that you say? Well, just listen to this week’s podcast to find out.

Episode 55 - James Cawley - Star Trek: Phase II - Part 2 I’m all shook up because we have part two of our interview with Mr. James Cawley this week. Some people think he’s nothing, but a hound dog – but let me tell you from experience he’s just a teddy bear. In fact he’s been described as a big hunk of love. If the bridge of the Star Trek was a jailhouse that jailhouse would rock if it was Mr. Cawley’s film set located in Upstate New York where Star Trek: Phase II is filmed. Don’t be cruel if you don’t understand Mr. Cawley’s passion towards this project. More suspicious minds would think he’s stepping on the foundation of what Gene Roddenberry has created. If you don’t see his commitment due to the love of the source material then you’ve lost that loving feeling. If you think all these Elvis Presley song references are ‘too much’ then I‘ll stop now. HEH! It’s not easy to write these blurbs for every episode. If you don’t like it then I am going to sit right down and cry. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go get a banana and peanut butter sandwich. Listen to this Podcast while I’m gone.

Episode 54 - James Cawley - Star Trek: Phase II - Part 1 Now if I was to sit down the write the most bizarre movie script I could conceive I would write about an Elvis Presley impersonator who loves Star Trek so much he makes an exact duplicate of the 1960’s enterprise bridge in a used car dealership and then starts filming his own movies guest starring the cast, crew, and writers of the original series on said bridge. I think the Farrelly brothers would have a field day with this idea. Who would play this character? Perhaps we could rejuvenate Macaulay Culkin’s career in playing this part or maybe get an unknown actor to take on the lead – like – say – James Cawley. Cawley’s name was totally off the cuff, but I do recall him being in some Hidden Frontier show or something. Then we would invite some of the original Star Trek alumni aboard such as Walter Koenig, George Takei, Denise Crosby and the list goes on. WOW! This movie could play in all the cool art houses. Screw the art houses this is going to Festival de Cannes, baby! We’ll call it “Heartbreak Enterprise” or “Blue Trek Shoes” or “Viva Warp 5” or something to that affect.

James Cawley is our guest this week on the Fan Film Podcast. Mr. Cawley produces a well known series for the internet called Star Trek: Phase II, a show that is literally downloaded by millions of people around the world. This is history in the making folks. This is what fan films are all about. James is feeding the desire for more Trek out to the masses and let me tell you those masses are eating like crazy. What the original license holders will do with this unprecedented popularity is not yet known, but I guarantee in a few years the way Fan Films are perceived are going to be “a” changin’.

Episode 53 - Jeff Hayes - Plasma Fire Graphics A nice little change on this week’s Fan Film Podcast. We’re talking art. If you’re into Fan Films then I can bet dollars to donuts you’ve seen this gentleman’s work. Jeff Hayes is literally the “poster boy” of the Fan Film world designing some of the most visually stunning one-sheets that could rival any cinema imagery from this summer’s (or any summer’s) Hollywood Blockbusters. His work puts another layer of legitimacy on the very subject we cover here.

Jeff’s work includes – Star Trek: Phase II, Star Trek: Hidden Frontier, G.I. Joe: Battle for the Serpent Stone, Lord of the Rings: Hunt for Gollum, Spider-Man: Peter’s Web, and the list extends as far as the eye can see. And Jeff is just getting started!
