149: Linda Spellman is Trauma-Inspired Linda Spellman grew up in the north suburbs of Chicago. She earned her MBA and spent years as a successful marketing executive for high-profile national retailers from Southern California to Atlanta. She was known throughout the Direct Marketing Industry, as a well-respected industry event speaker, and was on the advisory board for several industry conferences. She was enjoying a thriving career when a sexual assault changed everything.  A silent survivor of sexual abuse since childhood, Linda’s life began to take a series of unexpected, sometimes devastating, other times remarkable turns. Her journey of self-discovery soon expanded into an exploration into the world of other trauma survivors, their experiences and healing journeys and their gifts.  Linda is now an author, speaker and gifted psychic medium with clients around the world. Her self-described purpose in life is to “give people hope.” In her free time, you can find Linda playing with her big-hearted Sheepadoodle, Griffin in Raleigh, where they currently reside. Her new book, “Trauma-Inspired” is part memoir, part self-help book, and wholly unique in its approach. Follow the trauma healing journey of one survivor — together with the compelling input of 50 others.  This eye-opening account reveals and explores the raw emotions and lingering effects of trauma, while displaying the incredible resilience of the human spirit as it transforms tragedy into triumph.  Trauma-Inspired blends a step-by-step path to healing, tips and tricks from survivors, and transformational exercises into its powerful narrative. The result is a trauma recovery toolkit for survivors — and those trying to help them heal. And the twist? All 50 of these survivors were inspired by an unexpected gift… an extra-sensory connection. “Stop. No really, stop. You need to read this book. This isn’t just another trauma survival story. When we have a tragedy we think that’s where we have to stay, but this book shows you another path. Trauma-Inspired is eye-opening, thought-provoking, and enlightening.” — Erin Brockovich, Environmental activist  JONES.SHOW is a weekly podcast featuring host Randall Kenneth Jones (author, speaker & creative communications consultant) and Susan C. 146: Erin Brockovich, Right Wrong & Be Still Erin Brockovich is an environmental activist, consumer advocate, renowned crusader, and champion fighter whose courageous case against Pacific Gas and Electric was dramatized in an Oscar-winning film that earned Julia Roberts an Oscar in 2001.  Julia's Brockovich may be frozen in time in the late 20th century, but Erin's Brockovich is fixated on the issues of today. She is older and wiser, yet wickedly funny and refreshing. Nonetheless, like her cinematic Ghost of Brockovich Past, she is still a force of nature and FOR nature. Erin is the president of Brockovich Research & Consulting and the founder of the Erin Brockovich Foundation, a nonprofit organization created to educate and empower communities in their fight for clean water.  In Erin's latest book —"Superman's Not Coming: Our National Water Crisis and What We the People Can Do about it" — she makes clear why we are in trouble and warns us that if we're waiting for someone to save us, Superman isn't coming. Nor is the government or the environmental agencies. No one is going to solve this for us. It is up to us, we the people, and Erin shows us how. ABC’s “Rebel,” inspired by Erin’s life today and starring Katey Sagal, aired in 2021 and is available on streaming platforms. This is Erin's fourth appearance on JONES.SHOW!  JONES.SHOW is a weekly podcast featuring host Randall Kenneth Jones (author, speaker & creative communications consultant) and Susan C. 143: Actress Mia Massaro is Up Where She Belongs On the cusp of her big break as Paula Pokrifki—the Debra Winger role—in the National Tour of “An Officer and a Gentleman, The Musical,” 24-year-old New York theater actress Mia Massaro received a devastating diagnosis. But the show must go on—and it did. Mia Massaro is a New York City based actor but grew up in Vineland, New Jersey (basically the South) with her parents Andrea and Dominic Massaro and two older brothers, Andrew and Patrick. She studied musical theatre performance at Marymount Manhattan College and graduated in 2019.  Since then she’s been killing the survival job game while also getting her first two equity jobs in March of 2020, and we all know what happened there.  She started doing theatre with The Gabriel Project which is a nonprofit organization based out of South Jersey that would produce and put on musicals to raise money for children in Africa. That money would go towards bringing those children over to the United States to have life saving surgeries, something she now knows a little something about.  Mia Massaro Online:  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/miacmassaro Twitter: https://twitter.com/mia_massaro  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mia.massaro JONES.SHOW Online:    Join us in the Jones.Show Lounge on Facebook.
