Buck Off Podcast: The best Big Ten Conference Preview On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined by Jordan Williams, and we get into our Big Ten conference preview for the 2022 season. Before we get into the preview we get into some news and notes with the start of Fall Camp on the horizon. We discuss the impending football season and how last year goes into the dumpster when Fall Camp starts. We also get into the stories we’re most excited about for the first day of camp.To start our conference preview with Big Ten West and discuss how all seven teams will fare this season. We start with the teams projected at the bottom including the lifeless Northwestern program and the steadily improving Illinois program. We then get into the discussion about the middle of the pack programs and teams looking to improve including Nebraska, Minnesota, and Purdue. We then discuss the division champs Iowa and why Wisconsin should be the safe bet to reclaim their conference thrown. (13:33)After the break, we get into the Big Ten East division and how this division should have a defined pecking order once again. Indiana is getting a lot of 6th place hype which we disagree with whole heartedly, and we discuss why Rutgers can be a bowl team this year. After that we discuss Maryland who exists in the middle on their own and what they can do to have a successful season. We then get into Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State discussing how they can be better or worse than last year. We don’t get into Ohio State because we will be doing an in depth preview closer to the season. (1:04:39)To close out the show, we make award predictions including conference MVP, offensive player of the year, defensive player of the year, and biggest upset to close out a loaded show.Connect with the Show:Twitter: @BuckOffPodConnect with Chris Renne:Twitter: @ChrisRenneCFBConnect with Jordan WilliamsTwitter: @JordanW330 Learn more about your ad choices. LGHL Uncut: Chris Holtmann speaks ahead of Ohio State’s trip to Bahamas (08/02/22) Throughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions.During this episode, we heard from Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann leading up to his team’s trip to the Bahamas, which is set to take place from Thursday, August 4th through Tuesday, August 9th. The Buckeyes will face the Egyptian and Puerto Rican national teams at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Unfortunately, there will be no way to watch or stream Ohio State’s games in the Bahamas. Holtmann also discussed the health of players who have been nursing injuries, including Seth Towns, Justice Sueing, and Gene Brown. Neither Sueing nor Towns will play in this week’s game action. Ohio State’s sixth-year head coach also discussed November’s Maui Invitational for a bit, but was noncommittal on if he would wear a Hawaaian shirt or not during and of the Buckeyes’ three games at the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui. I-70 Football Show: Tier Four - Non Bowl Participants Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s I-70 podcast. On this show we talk all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. We are a few weeks away from the 2022-23 football season, so it is time to switch gears from talking off-season to diving headfirst into real football content. What better way to start football season than ranking teams and picking games? In our season preview, we rank the Big Ten into four tiers, the non-bowl tier, the low-bowl tier, the NY6 bowl tier, and the contender’s tier. We also predict records and finishes for all fourteen teams leading to 168 games picked.Last year Jordan won the competition with a record of 95-73, while Dante was close behind with a record of 93-75. Looking to improve on last year, the guys both agree that Indiana, Northwestern, Rutgers, and Nebraska will not make bowl games in the 2022-23 football season. Not all tiers are created evenly as Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano and Northwestern’s head coach Pat Fitzgerald are safe even with a poor season. On the other hand, this should put the nail in the coffin of the Scott Frost experiment while Tom Allen hopes his administration will show him some love and give him another season. Maybe he will end up with the Jim Harbaugh, “prove it” contract. In their weekly pitstops, Jordan is tired of the Yankees not spending money. It is time to bring back the Yankees who operated with a blank check and would do and pay anything to win; it is no coincidence they have not won since they closed the checkbooks. Dante is tired of the double standard in the NBA where players are expected to be loyal to teams while teams are anything but loyal to their players and will lie to them or trade them in a heartbeat.Connect with us on Twitter:Jordan: @JordanW330Dante: @DanteM10216 Learn more about your ad choices. The Buckeyes still have one of the top classes in the country, but it has been a real tough stretch in terms of misses on defense. They then get into the previews, where the Terrapins could have one of the conference’s top offenses if everything works out, while the Illini are still finding their way in year two under Bret Bielema.Connect with the Podcast:Twitter: @HolyLandPodConnect with Gene:Twitter: @Gene_Ross23Connect with Josh:Twitter: @jdooleybuckeye Learn more about your ad choices. Buck Off Podcast: Defensive recruiting struggles, B1G media day takeaways, and a fall Camp preview On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined by Jordan Williams, and we get into Ohio State’s upcoming season for the Buckeyes after we heard from Ryan Day and the player representatives at Big Ten Media Day.Before we get into the players on the roster we have a conversation about the current recruiting struggles the Buckeyes are facing. In this conversation we discuss the recent recruitments, and how recruiting is not straightforward. We discuss the variables that effect recruitments and when the defensive recruiting might take a turn to the positive again. After that, we get into our discussions from the media days for the Big Ten. We start the the head ball coach Ryan Day, who definitely should not be fired. His expectations for the defense sound high, but are actually pretty reasonable. We then get into his comments about how 11-2 is an unsuccessful season for the Buckeyes.Once back from the break, we get into C.J. Stroud, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Ronnie Hickman’s appearance. The Buckeyes showed a lot of confidence on the podium and each showed a new side to themselves in their conversations. The confidence and conviction has me and Jordan excited for the Fall camp to start. To close out the show, we discuss Ohio State starting Fall camp next week. We get into potential position battles, our biggest questions, and a relatively injury free roster starting the Fall camp.Connect with the Show:Twitter: @BuckOffPodConnect with Chris Renne:Twitter: @ChrisRenneCFBConnect with Jordan WilliamsTwitter: @JordanW330 Learn more about your ad choices. The rest of the show is all about the Huskers and the Scarlet Knights, two teams that are looking to improve in 2022 with new quarterbacks. Will Scott Frost do enough to keep his job? Can Rutgers survive in the B1G East? Who knows!“Hangout in the Holy Land” is will be dropping one episode per week during the offseason, coming out every Wednesday (don’t hold us to that). I-70 Football Show: A New College Football Players Association Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s I-70 podcast. After a spirit discussion around if the show should be called I-80 Football Show, we get into Penn State starting quarterback Sean Clifford hoping to lead the charge of a new college football players association with Penn State at the forefront. Clifford and the association have begun talks with the Big Ten regarding health insurance for sports related injuries post career, a representative on each campus to support students and advocate especially around medical conversations and revenue sharing from the media rights deal. The guys discuss what a player’s association could look like as well as if the players should unionize. Plus, they get into how revenue sharing could work, is it fair if only football players get paid? What would it look like for all athletes to benefit from revenue sharing? After a brief conversation about the future of the XFL and USFL the guys finish the Big Ten schedule preview. It is time for the Big Ten to change the scheduling model because it is rough! The best games in the last few weeks revolve around Iowa, Minnesota, Purdue, and Wisconsin. After a remarkably close race in 2021 the fight to win the Big Ten West should be exciting as the champion will be decided in the last few weeks. In their weekly pitstops, Jordan is in search of a support group since he plans to buy Madden 23. He cannot stop himself from buying it every year despite the fact it hardly changes and usually gets worse. Dante is anti-pre ordering video games. After multiple video games have come out unfinished Dante thinks it is a waste to pre-order video games especially when they have not released game play. Stay tuned as next week we begin our season preview where we break the teams into tiers and predict their records.Connect with us on Twitter:Jordan: @JordanW330Dante: @DanteM10216 Learn more about your ad choices.
