Episode 75: Vampire's Kiss 1989 Yikes! This week our theme was "Vampires" and Bob's pick won the vote even though there is arguably no vampire in this movie. We all sat down and watched the notorious Vampire's Kiss from 1989. None have us had ever seen the film and did NOT set out to rip a film a part but this episode ended up being less then kind to the film at hand. If you'r a fan of the film, we apologize it just missed the mark with us... By a large margin. While you listen don't forget to cast your vote for which movie we review next! Episode 74: Pitch Black 2000 We have had a myriad of issues at the movies Against Time studio the last 2 weeks. We've missed an episode for the first time in 2 years, our main computer died, the internet in our studio went down for a week, we lost an episode and to top it all off the mixer disconnected at the end of our recording on this episode. The audio is recorded off of the built in microphone on the Mac for the last 20 minutes or so on this one. All of these issues have been addressed and here on it we should be business as usual. Please enjoy and we apologize for the wait on this one.
Episode 73: Stargate 1994 This week YOU voted for Stargate from 1994! Written and directed by Roland Emmerich alongside writing partner Dean Devlin, Stargate stars Kurt Russell, James Spader and Jaye Davidson alongside a talented cast of supporting actors. This Science fiction classic may not have become the trilogy it was intended to be but it was popular enough to spawn 5 tv series. Theme for our next film will be "water" the picks are:Bob - 20,000 leagues under the sea (1954)James - The Abyss (1989)Sylvia - Ghost Ship (2002)Dustin - Point Break (1991)Vote Now on twitter @MoviesAgainstMovies Against Time is a bi-weekly film retrospective podcast hosted by married couple Sylvia and Dustin along with their long time friend Bob. Episode 70: John Carpenters The Thing 1982 This week you chose John Carpenters The Thing 1982You had your choice between Jurassic Park, TMNT II: Secret Of The Ooze or John Carpenters The Thing. John Carpenter was panned by critics and audiences alike who weren't ready for the in your face practical effects and the expertly depicted body horror jump scares littered throughout this masterpiece of horror and suspense. While we can appreciate the genius in this film now, the backlash upon release had a long term effect on John Carpenters career and ultimately made him somewhat bitter towards the film industry as a whole. This film stands against the test of time defiantly as proof of when we all let a legendary film maker down and a reminder of what we could have missed out on for being so quick to dismiss a film. While you listen don't forget to cast your vote for which movie we review next! Episode 69: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - 1990 (TMNT) James joined the gang on our first listener voted episode pick. TMNT may not have had the biggest stars, greatest director or biggest budget at 13 million dollars, but what it liked in money and star power it made up for with an amazing Intellectual property and the master puppetry of the late great Jim Henson. This little movie changed the way we looked at superhero movies forever. With a great mix of humor and grit TMNT stays with you long after you watch it looks amazing 32 years later, better then some coming out today with half a billion dollar budgets and the biggest actors. While it was fun to watch and reminisce on this classic it's important not to forget the most underrated sequel in history. Secret of the ooze look out cause were coming!!!!You voted on twitter @Moviesagainst for your pick before and it's that time again. The choices are...TMNT 2 - The Secret Of The Ooze - 1991Jurassic Park - 1993John Carpenters The Thing - 1982Get your votes in now and defend your picks in the comments, we'll be fighting for ours in there too.Movies Against Time is a bi-weekly film retrospective podcast hosted by married couple Sylvia and Dustin along with their long time friend Bob. Episode 68: Crossroads - 1986 This week Bob had us revisit the 1986 romance / drama Crossroads. Directed by Walter Hill and written by John Fusco. Crossroads is an exemplary showcase of southern blues that would make a fantastic family film but was unfortunately hidden inside a rated R release that most fans of Ralph Macchio from The Karate Kid weren't allowed to see in theaters. This marks the last round robin style host picked episode.Starting today it will be up to you, the listener to choose from 3 films on Twitter @Moviesagainst or through email moviesagainsttime@gmail.com or instagram @Moviesagainst.Next Episode choices:Shadow of The Vampire (2000)Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)Heartbreak Ridge (1986)Voting is already in progress...
