EP 139: Georgia- Gulambara and Sulambara (Marjory Wardrop 1894) In this story, a boy is kicked out of his kindgom after setting a magic fish free. He then goes on a wild adventure all over town with his new friend, going on adventure after adventure. Will he trust his new friend? Will he give up his princess? Who are Gulambara and Sulambara? Listen and find out!
This is a special episode because it will also be released on the History of Saqartvelo Georgia podcast. It was a cool collaboration with my friend Roberto who runs the show. Since it was a special one, I didn't have any listener shoutout or Podcast Shoutout. Instead, just go listen to the History of Georgia Saqartvelo podcast and enjoy learning about all the cool history of a very small but determined country. Enjoy!

EP 138: Nigeria- The Voices of Birds, Three Magicians, Isokun and the Baby (M.I. Ogumefu 1929) In the first story, a magician is off on a walk in the woods. He came to a place where there were a lot of dull brown birds with beautiful voices. He asked the birds if they would be up for a bit of swapping: their beautiful voices for some lovely feathers.
In the second story, we learn about the origin of a beautiful flowing river and the betrayal that lead to the stagnant one next to it.
And in the third story, we hear the sad tale of Isokun, who just wants a baby of her own.

EP 136: Azores- Fresh Figs and The Master of Magic (Elsie Spicer Eells 1922) In the first story, there are two brothers. One brother is cunning, but the other is a bit dull. They are tasked with bringing the rich man's daughter some figs to make her feel better. But it is the middle of January and there are hardly any figs. Luckily, the brothers meet a mysterious woman with child. One lies to her and pays the price, but the other tells the truth and is rewarded.
And in the second story, the youngest brother of three goes to school instead of working the fields like his brothers. They are mad at him for not working hard like them. The boy shows his worth by using the magic he learned in school to make his father more money than either of the other two brothers. Will his magic be enough to beat the wizard though?

Kweku finds a way to trick the dragon's pet cock, and then leads people to safety through a series of tricks. For these good deeds, he is transformed into the Sun. Long live Kweku Tsin!

Podcast Shoutout: Irish History Podcast My Name is Fin Dwyer, I am 39 year old historian, author and podcaster. I studied archaeology and Greek and Roman Civilisation in University College Dublin and completed a masters in archaeology in 2004. After working in archaeology for several years in the Dublin region a combination of recession and ill-health ended my aspirations to become Indiana Jones. In 2010 I created the Irish history podcast. For the first few years the show focused on medieval history.
Listener Shoutout: The city of Tehran has a population of approximately 10 million in 2016. With its cosmopolitan atmosphere, Tehran is home to diverse ethnic and linguistic groups from all over the country. The present-day dominant language of Tehran is the Tehrani variety of the Persian language, and the majority of people in Tehran identify themselves as Persians. However, before, the native language of the Tehran–Ray region was not Persian, which is linguistically Southwest Iranian and originates in Fars, but a now extinct Northwestern Iranian language.
