The Boys Season 3 review Eric Kripke, Karl Urban, Antony Starr and the gang are all back for Season 3 of the hit Amazon series, The Boys, so of course these boys weren't going to miss out on more of the gore-riddled satirical mayhem!

Is this the best season of the show yet? Or is starting to spin its wheels? Should Antony Starr be nominated for an Emmy? And perhaps most importantly, what exactly is the line that Wayne won't cross when it comes to taboo sexual practices?

Learn the answers to all these questions and more, as The Countdown continues ...

Top 10 Dystopian Films Countdown #383

This week, top level Patron to the show, David Powell, decided to reflect the world's fast evolving reality, by having the guys countdown their Top 10 Dystopian Films.

Both Wayne and Paul shop out a bunch of their more commonly discussed films, making for some surprises within each of their lists, even as they consider what kind of societal decay and levels of injustice make for better viewing.

Can Paul possibly leave Mad Max alone? Does Wayne feature a Paul Verhoeven film on his list? And what two films will both co-hosts have?

Learn the answers to all these questions and more, as The Countdown continues ...

The Gray Man review The divide between the critics' and audiences' Rotten Tomatoes scores have never been greater when it comes to a big budget film, and with Netflix investing $200 million into this potential kick-starter for a new cinematic universe, the stakes have never been higher for the streaming giant.
So what do Paul and Wayne - two armchair critics from Australia whom Rotten Tomatoes wouldn't even deign to reply to - think of The Gray Man?

And more importantly, how many times will Wayne refer to Ryan Gosling as Ryan Reynolds?

What TV We’ve Been Watching in 2022 Countdown #382

Something a bit different for you this week, valued listener, as Paul and Wayne countdown ten television shows they've watched in 2022 but have not covered as a main episode review. Think of it like the Top 10 Last 10 - as the boys structure their list from worst to best shows - but for television which means two things that the hardcore fans of the podcast (at the very least!) love:

1. The return of the Growing Pains theme song; and
2. Wayne regularly calling a show a film throughout the episode.

Amid all of that, the guys cover everything from reality TV to sci-fi, and cross the Atlantic to discuss some British television as well. In other words, get ready to race amazingly to survive the murders that only happen in a building, prompting a Lazarus style return from the dead, and just like that, you'll marvel at how many you'll want to reach(er) for after listening to this Ep.

All this and more, as The Countdown continues ...

The Black Phone review It's Paul's birthday week, so he activates Executive Birthday Protocol #1, forcing Wayne to see a horror film for the first time in a long while. That horror film? The just dropped into Australian cinemas, The Black Phone.

How does Wayne deal with sitting in a cinema for his first horror film in a long while? And aside from laughing at Wayne, how did Paul find this adaptation of a Joe Hill short story - an author whom he has long admired?

The latest Top 10 Last 10 - in which the guys rank ten of their most recent viewings (not previously discussed on the show) from worst to best - features a slew of foreign films, recent releases, divisive flicks and more than a few surprises. Not least of which being Wayne has a foreign film ranked higher than Paul AND has lowered himself to watching an animated film when he doesn't have to ...

Thor: Love and Thunder review Some 6 films and 7 series into Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Paul and Wayne are starting to ask: Just what are Kevin Feige and Marvel up to? Have they completely lost the reigns on how to build a compelling multi-picture narrative? Or is the long game ultimately going to be worth it, much as the Infinity Stones saga more than justified its process over the years through the earlier phases?

Regardless, they have some mixed feelings about the fourth official Thor adventure and the second under the guidance of Mr New Zealand himself Taika Waititi.

Listen in to hear the boys process those mixed feelings as The Countdown continues ...

Battle of the Directors: Spielberg Vs Cameron vs Tarantino vs Nolan Countdown #380

Adam Mileur, top level Patron, is responsible for this week's impossible task: Countdown the top ten films from between directors Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Quentin Tarantino and Christoper Nolan, and then crown one as the modern day king of them all!

So enjoy Wayne and Paul's minds breaking as they try to justify how they pare this incredible pool of films back to just ten. Then psych yourself up to be outraged as they invariably miss at least one masterpiece from one (or all) of these incredible artists.

Yes, it's that kind of episode - one where there will be more hot takes than good calls. But that's what this podcast is all about, so take a deep breath and join the boys on a way trip to Controver-City ... as The Countdown continues.

Stranger Things Season 4 review The Netflix phenomenon, Stranger Things with its fourth season, has now been released in its entirety, meaning Paul and Wayne are dropping into the Upside Down to give you their full review of ALL nine episodes!

Is Steve the best character of all time? Is it a distraction that the young actors have grown up so much, yet they're meant to be the same age? Do the many, many story lines all justify themselves or does the show the who fold under the weight of 13 full hours? And just how svelte is David Harbour now?

Learn the answers to all these questions - as well as hear one too many genitalia puns - in the longest review episode ever, as The Countdown continues ...
