031 The Immigrant Advantage with Egbert von Frankenberg On one of the podcasts I used to listen to (Open for Business hosted by John Henry) there was a particular episode that really inspired me. In it, he tells the story about 2 fishes swimming along their day. A big fish swims by and greets them “hows the water?” He says as he goes by. Afterwards, the 2 fishes, stunned, turn to each other and ask “what’s water?” That story pained a clear picture for me of the immigrant's advantage. Because they’re put into an entirely new situation and way of living, they have a unique eye for things natives only think of as the norm. That perspective was one of the huge benefits that got Egbert to where he is in his company Knightfox App Design here in Jamaica, and it’s one of the things I wanted to understand more, which is why he had to be on this podcast. His story was also interesting to me because he lived in several countries, but decided to put his roots here when many natives are looking for the first plane off this rock. If you’re as curious as I was, you’ll find a lot in this episode. 030 Top 3 Lessons From Our First Year in Business Starting this season, I’ve decided to add solo episodes every other week, in between interviews, where I’ll be answering your questions, sharing insights and lessons from my own journey. On today's episode, I was joined by my business partner, producer, and wife, Alexandra, and we talk about the top three lessons we learned from our first year in business in 2018. Some of these perspective shifts were uncomfortable, and they really showed us that being adaptable and open to learning would be a top skill if we wanted to make it in the marathon of new business. We talk about: How to focus on the process instead of the outcome Why health has to be your number one priority How figuring out our target customers changed the trajectory of our business And so much more! - Connect with me and let me know what you thought of this format: Instagram - @pastennett Facebook - @paulstennett LinkedIn - Paul Stennett Twitter - @pastennett The Transformation Blueprint Podcast - http://ttb.show Podcast Consulting Website - https://amazinggains.net Paul Stennett is a Podcast Consultant and co-owner of a production company which helps coaches, consultants, and experts create and grow engaging and profitable podcasts. 029 Intrapreneur Success Secrets with Sloane Jackson Sitting down for this interview I had only one objective: to understand how this guy makes it his duty to make as many luxury cars disappear out of the lot as possible. I wanted to break it down in a way that anyone listening - myself included - could replicate, raise their prices and get more customers. I got that, and a lot more. As you'll hear on this episode, Sloane is knowledgable (don’t take my word for it), and his competitive spirit has led him to break records for luxury car sales, including his own. We talk about everything from his university background to how he manages money and how it all comes together to build his courageous and wise character. Sloane Jackson is a Zoologist, Head of Business at BMW/Mini a true intrapreneur, and he’s my guest today. Enjoy.  In this episode we talk about: How to set yourself up for success with a 10-year plan, Leveraging your perspective and innate abilities to become an intrapreneur, The mindset you need to create solutions when others only see problems, And so much more! 028 Taking Huge Risks in the Face of Adversity with Garth Walker It’s easy to take things for granted once they start to feel like the norm. We forget that they weren’t always there and that they could actually be gone one day. Louis CK makes this joke about travelling by plane. He says it’s one of the most marvellous inventions of the last century (* I know the first flight was 1903, this sounds better *), yet we’re totally over it when the Wi-Fi on our flight doesn’t work. We’ve come to accept as the norm, the increased focus and transparency on entrepreneurship and the business landscape in Jamaica. But it wasn’t always that way and many of those strides were made by Wealth Magazine and Business Access TV. Garth Walker has co-founded many companies in many niches. From Creative Media & Events to Adam and Eve Day Spa, Wealth Magazine, Wealth Access Financial, Business Access TV, Growth Tech and I’m sure there are more to come. He’s a true entrepreneur who has taken massive risks, even in the face of what seemed to be a failure, when many others would have faltered. In this episode we talk about: How to create balance in your entrepreneurial endeavours, How to take action on an idea that revolutionizes your niche, How to live a rich life while taking big risks in business, And so much more!
